Ger-Belus was one of the many famous cities of G’wenee. The city was located in the same landmass where the planet’s capital, Lay Pa-Sidian, was located. However, this city was built on several hills ,being completely surrounded by mountains. In the ancient past, this land used to be considered sacred to the Arandu.

Recently, in one of the mountains that surround Ger-Belus, was discovered the ruins of an ancient Arandu temple. The University of Lay Pa-Sidian had started to explore it, seeking to study it. Apparently, it had connections with some of the rituals that were realized by the religious caste.

Senin had decided to pursue his interest in Ancient cultures by becoming a student of Archaeology at this University. With the announcement of the discovery of the ruins, the Acolyte had used the influence of the Ravelo to become part of the expedition that was going to explore it.

However, he wasn’t going alone. For some reason, maybe due to the will of the Force, the Sith Champion Telo Nass was visiting G’wenee and decided to participate in the expedition. Obviously, all the other members were afraid of the Champion. Due to that, Senin ended up being forced to act as their mediator with Telo.

The once excited Acolyte was now feeling annoyed. Once again he was going to act as the babysitter of another Sith. While the expedition prepared to start a walk through the forest to reach the ruins in the mountain, Senin decided to forget Telo and focus on what they were going to explore. What secrets could this place be hiding?

Telo Nass had found himself G’wenee, as though forced had guided him here in his quest for power, with the possibility that their could be untapped relics and power within ruins. The young sith could feel annoyance and fear as he came closer to the group, as though there was a reason to hate him. Though Telo was surprisingly very casual for a Sith Champion, he had no traits of physical corruption and if someone was to truly look at his aura they would even seem glitters of the light side.

But he lavished power and wealth, and the sith would allow him to gain this.

It was clear to Telo that his presence wasn’t welcomed by the Sith Acoylte known as Senin, a smirk ran across his face as he followed the young man towards the foot of the forest which would lead them to the ruins.

“You aren’t a very talkative one are you?” He said with a snort, his helmet under one arm resting gently against his ribs.

If Senin didn’t know that Telo was a Sith Champion, he would never have thought that the man could be one. All the other Champions that he had met had at least yellow eyes, but this guy didn’t have it. He could easily pass off as a simple citizen of the Galaxy.

They were preparing to enter the forest when Telo approached the group. The rest of the members of the expedition were staying far away from them. This made Senin roll his eyes. It wasn’t like they were going to kill them. He still couldn’t believe how these people seemed to be so afraid of the Sith.

I’m not this way usually. It’s because of that.” Senin showed to Telo how the other members of the expedition were avoiding them. “They seem to think that we will kill them if they look at us. It’s really stupid.” he explained. Even during his classes at the College it happened, most of his colleagues avoided him. It was very annoying.

"I think that we never properly meet. I'm Senin Ravelo." the Acolyte offered his hand for the Champion to shake. If they were going to spend so much time together, the best that he could do was to be cordial with the other man.

Telo smirked as he followed Senin’s nod, looking over his shoulder at the others on the expedition and shook his head “Why would they think we’d kill them?” he asked, his voice rung out softly almost as though he was singing. He sometimes forgot how tyrannical the sith order was, he often wondered how many of them could be obsessed with power but we’re nothing but a misery. Why seek power if you couldn’t even enjoy it.

Shaking the mans hand, it was firm but not aggressive “No we haven’t, Telo Nass.” As he revealed his name, “Do you expect us to find much on this expedition?” he queried hoping they’d find some kind of relic of power.

He continued to look behind him at the crowd of people hoping that they wouldn’t hate him, though it came with being a sith. Though sometimes Telo never truly felt like one.

They probably think that we are going to Force choke them if they do something wrong.” even if it’s annoying, Senin knew that they weren’t wrong. Not all the Sith were examples of patience and forgiveness. He could see his Master killing these people if they annoy him. At least, the young man still didn’t reach this point.

Pleasure to meet you, Telo.” he shook the man’s hand. “From what I read, these ruins were used by the religious caste of the ancient species that lived in G’wenee, the Arandu. They had their own way of understanding the Force and used several artifacts to these rituals. We will probably find something interesting.

Senin couldn’t wait to start exploring the ruins. The city of Ger-Belus was built over an ancient Arandu city-state. There were several archeological sites inside the city, but this was going to be the first one found outside of it. The Acolyte was excited to discover why this place was located so far away from the rest.

Then, the leader of the expedition announced that they were going to start the walk to the ruins. While they walked toward the trail, they would pass through a park at the outskirts of the city. There was a giant statue of a scary face and several tourists were around it, taking pictures.

It’s called Carranca. The ancient Arandu of this region used to put it around their cities to ward off evil spirits. This one is only a copy for tourists to take pictures.” he explained to Telo, while pointing to a couple of Pantorans that were doing it with their datapads. “Do you like folklore and mythology?” he asked, hoping for the other man to say yes. This walk would be a bit long, so would be good to have someone to talk.

Telo smiled at Senin, “It’s a pleasure to meet you to.” He was glad to meet another Sith who was so, serious and dull, it got a little tedious from time to time it was just nice to meet someone who felt normal as it were. Well as normal as a deadly trained Sith could be, but normal none the less.

He nodded with interest as Senin went into detail of what they could find within the ruins and the chance of finding artefacts that could channel the force in unique ways. It certainly was an exciting prospect. Would there be untold powers, a unique technique? Or perhaps just something of interesting. Either way Telo was looking forward to it.

Following along the trail they came across a large statue, known as Carranca he looked at with interest and smiled “We should take a photo together with it, it will look nice on my mantle.” He exclaimed as he pulled out his own datapad “Though if we could take a picture with the real one that would be better. I’m not against folklore and mythology but only when it leads to the truth I prefer historical fact.” Answer his new friends question. Assuming that Senin didn’t protest Telo would pass the datapad to the tour guide and asked him politely to take a photo who was happy to accommodate, though it was likely he wouldn’t say no to a Sith Champion. Taking Senin by the shoulder he’d drag him in front of the statue and pull him in close, Telo wasn’t one for noticing personal boundaries “Make sure you get my good side!” he said with a big smile, grinning from ear to ear as he stood in front of the statue.

When Telo said that they should take a picture, Senin stopped walking and looked at the man. The expedition needed to reach the ruins before the sunset, but they would not leave the two Sith behind. With the fear that they had, the team would prefer to delay their departure rather than have the wrath of the Sith falling over them.

Let’s go!” Senin said excitedly. He followed Telo toward the statue, hearing what the champion was saying. “Well, there are some of the original arrancas lost in the forest. It’s possible that we can find one.” the Champion answer to his question made the Acolyte think about how some myths of G’wenee could really be true.

"I have the same opinion. Folklore always has a small bit of truth in it." there were great possibilities that the mythical creatures mentioned by the Arandu in their writings were indeed real. Senin hoped that these ruins could have some clue about it.

He stopped in front of the statue, posing beside Telo and waiting for the picture to be taken. The tour guide was shaking so much with fear that would need some attempts before a good one was taken. After that, they would return to the expedition group. Senin saw how they seemed to be annoyed with the delay, but were too afraid to say anything.

With the group united again, they entered the forest. The trail that they were using was well delimited, with signs showing the path. Occasionally some tourists would pass, walking back to the city. "We are still in the part that is open to tourism." Senin explained to Telos, after a family of Twi’leks walked by them. "The ruins are in a more isolated part."

After he said that, the leader of the expedition turned to the right. They were going deep in the forest, through a path that wasn't well delimited. Even the forest was more dark and dense. The walk would take some time and it would be a bit tedious. "Would you like to hear a myth about this forest?" Senin asked Telo. This could be a good way to pass the time.

Telo smiled widely for the photograph, his eyes narrowed at the fearful guide who was struggling to take the photo he sighed loudly and gestured for him to hurry up “You needn’t worry, my friend and I won’t bite…” he snorted as they finally got a good photo. He took the datapad and looked over the photo and was pleased with the results. Telo was one for collecting memorabilia and photos from his trips, he was a rather social person. He placed the data pad back on his utility belt, latching it on as the pair made their way back to the expedition group and towards the forest.

It was nice to see people enjoying the pleasures the planet had to offer and was clearly a popular tourist destination, it made Telo even more excited to see what was hidden away. Telo had become quite a strong sith champion and could best most he’d come across, but to truly attain greatness he’d need even more power and if their was an interesting artifact perhaps it could take him to the next level. Though he wouldn’t make his intentions clear to Senin and if there wasn’t anything he’d still enjoy the exploration and Senin would have first ‘dibs’ on anything anyway. Telo had no intention of throwing his weight around.

The prospect of a story peaked Telo’s interested as he nodded “Yes, I’d love to hear a myth… I hope it’s spooky.” He said with a soft chuckle.

Senin smiled at Telo. “Oh, it’s very scary. It was so scary that the Arandu built the Carrancas due to fear of it.” the Acolyte loved a good horror story, even more if there was some possibility of it being true. “It’s the myth of the Jaci Jaterê, one of the Sete Horrores.

According to the myth, millenia before the arrival of the first Humbariner settlers, this region was plagued by the Jaci Jaterê.” the Acolyte pulled his Datapad and showed an image of the creature to Telo. “According to the legend, this creature was active during the night and dawn, when it wandered around and surrounded shacks, houses and camps in the middle of the forest. Emitting loud screams, this monster feeds on anything that was alive, using its sharp and long tongue to penetrate its prey a suck their life, leaving behind only an empty husk. Neither dead nor alive.

He would not tell Telo, but if the Jaci Jaterê was really a real creature, Senin had the theory that the creature was able to suck the Force from its prey. “The Jaci Jaterê ravaged several Arandu settlements, leaving only its victims behind. Since the creature couldn't be killed by any know weapon, they didn't know how to stop it. Desperate, the people prayed to the three gods for help, they heard and sent Tyrytyry-Manha, the great kaiman.” he showed a representation of this creature. “The two fought, but due to their hard skin Tyrytyry-Manha was immune to the tongue of Jaci Jaterê. This way the kaiman won and threw the monster in a fissure and sealed it. The Arandu of the region remained so afraid that the Jaci Jaterê could return, that they made the Carrancas. Thinking that it could scare the creature.

They would continue walking for some more time until finally arriving at the ruins. They were going to make a camp in front of them and when it was finished the group would be able to enter it. Senin can’t wait to see which secrets this place could be hiding.
