Hello. I've just joined up, so I'm introducing myself before getting started with RPing. I've done freeform RPing in the past (it was a DC Comics forum), but that was seven or eight years ago. Wow...that makes me feel really old. I've been interested in Star Wars since I saw Darth Vader in a toy catalogue when I was 6. So I'd say that's a long term obsession. I haven't read nearly as many of the novels as I wish I had (I've read Zahn's work and a few others), but I'm making up for lost time.

I've been writing fiction for as long as I can remember, although when I was in college, unassigned writing certainly dropped in the priorities list. I've been thinking about getting back involved in RPing for a while, and now I'm going to do it. Oh, I'm also excited for the release of The Old Republic, whenever that happens. Sith Empire FTW.

Other geeky things I'm interested in include comic books (DC, Marvel, it's all good), anime, and Magic: The Gathering. I play MTGO as well as my local FNM, but I'm still somewhat of a beginner at that, and I'm interested in too many things to put the time into it necessary to play tournament-level Magic.

One of my hobbies is writing electronic music, so if you like drum n' bass, or have any good recommendations for new dubstep, that's something I love to discuss. I'm also a huge metalhead, and I have a blog where I sort of write reviews, but I've not ever had the motivation to keep it going, because nobody read it. Anyway, hopefully I'll be a bit more consistent with this than I was with my blog.

So that's my little introduction. I look forward to meeting the characters (and player characters) on the site.

I'm thinking that the Hutt Empire sounds very appealing. At this point, I'm not sure what exactly I should do to jump in. It all seems very overwhelming - like I ought to read about a thousand things before I even start to create a character. What would you recommend as essential before I begin?

Wookieepedia is an excellent source of canon information. If you're interested in the Hutt Empire, the Taung, our Mandalorian faction just became open to all species. There's a few things you should read here and there such as the stickied threads in The Story forum. I'd suggest downloading MSN Messenger if you don't have it already, if you do, my contact info is in my profile and I'm usually on to help you out :D

Read the forum rules, of course.

If you want to join a Hutt Faction, perhaps the 'mandalorians of this timeline'.

Or, if you want to go strictly military:

If you want a force sensitive you could join The Dark Jedi. You have to start off as a Acolyte, however.

Or, if you want to join into role playing right away you could make a force sensitive for one of my factions: Labous an Ankou, Pentacle Athame Order

I also suggest reading through other peoples profiles to get a feel of things.
