Ship graveyard, Ord Mantell
2037 local time

Dusk began to set slowly upon the sea of twisted metal, the sun's rays reflecting off the durasteel and sending orange light bouncing around as the sky exploded in tinges of yellow and pink. Visibility slowly lowered, which is what Cinere was most concerned with, uncaring of the pretty landscape. He was here to sacrifice his life in the search for power, a thought that sobered him and lingered in his mind. His face set hard, the Sith trudged through the filthy slush of garbage below his feet, seeking something out. And there it was.

The top wing of the Imperialis stuck out of the landscape like a beacon, rusted and half-broken but still standing proud. This had been Darth Sidious' luxury craft, a ship that should be in a museum, its memory honored, not stuck in some graveyard for bandits to raid. It only served to remind Cinere of how the passage of time will forget us all eventually, regardless of standing. But time also remembers.

Just like how he had remembered of the Mask of Lord Momin. He had no solid leads regarding its final resting place, but word had it that it had last been seen on the Imperialis before it crashed. He was here to confirm that rumor and, should it not be here, find a lead.

He slowly approached the ship, wading through bits of metal until he reached a clearing right in front of it. He looked around, a bit uncomfortable to be standing out in the open like that, then closed his eyes. The Sith felt the Force around him flow like a calm ocean, its waves ebbing back and forth. Here, away from the busy cities full of lifeforms, the Force was much more clear, no garbage to hinder the investigation. Here, he could only see a few things that stuck out, and only one of them was relevant.

Because he felt the mask, calling to him from the wreckage. It was there, tainting the Force like blood in the water, a stain upon the neutrality of the Force.

BEHOLD, DARK SIDER. APPROACH ONLY IF YOU DARE.

The young Wookiee Padawan Wurfuhlla had come to Ord Mantell to grab some materials to work on his lightsabers with. He was hoping one of the ships would have some materials on them for the construction of his new set of lightsabers. The ones he currently has are mostly for training though they have normal capabilities as any other lightsaber. He just wants to make his own set. This shipyard had to be the place to find the raw materials for the very construction.

"Well I found some durasteel. That's about all that this ship has to offer.."

Leaving the ship he would enter an open clearing. One where he noticed an individual standing. It was weird to see this but Wurfuhlla had seen stranger.. strangers. The Wookiee Padawan would call out to the starnger in Shyriiwook.

"Hey, who are you? Why are you here?"

The opening was not meant for any person to be here. Not even Wurfuhlla technically, so now his Jedi instincts are coming to play.

He had found what he was looking for, and so Cinere was just ready to step forward and move toward the ship, only to be cut short as he heard a voice behind him. He rolled his eyes, having thought about this exact thing happening before but dismissing it. Then again, this was not really an issue, but it sure was damn annoying.

He turned to face the idiot who had yelled out asking not only why he was here (a valid question, assuming the man was tasked with guarding the junkyard), but who he was (a dangerous question that the man probably did not want the answer to). Cinere sized him up from a distance of a few dozen meters, observing the Wookie with an analytic eye. Robes, he thought. Interesting.

"I wouldn't worry about me, stranger. I'd mind my own business if I were you,"
he called back to the man. "There's a whole lotta junkyard here, one would think it's big enough for the two of us!"

He kept his hands at his side, only lifting them to gesticulate at the yard around them to emphasize just how huge it was. Hundreds of kilometers, and this guy had chosen this specific part to pester Cinere?

His face set, he just stared at the man, making no move to close the distance or otherwise engage him in any way. Truth be told, Cinere was hoping the dude would just shrug and go scavenge somewhere else.

And yet, he had a feeling that would not be happening.

And somewhere from within the wrecked ship, the mask was observing, hungering for the spilling of blood. A dark energy seemed to set on the clearing like a light mist growing in consistency. For Cinere, it filled him with confidence. For a non-Force user or anyone not a Sith, it would just make them feel uncomfortable. At least the mask's energy was further motivation for the Wookie to just leave.

"Look man, no one should be out here without a permit of license of some kind. I'm going to have to ask you to leave."

Wurfuhlla in that moment set his bag of materials down next to him. Staring a hole through the man in front of him, he would be sure to watch all of his movements. The Wookiee took a couple steps towards the man and looked him up and down. Trying to figure if there were any significant descriptions Wurfuhlla could give to either local police, rangers, or even his fellow Jedi. Depending on the threat it would be sure to not that the man was not welcomed to Ord Mantell.

"Go! Now!"

It was obvious the man was here for something. Though, Wurfuhlla knew not of what the reason for coming here was. Then the Wookiee felt it. The energy, dark energy. It was corrupt. Harsh and unsettling. And it was calling out.. to.. him.. Confusio filled Wurfuhlla's mind. That would have to mean that the man is a Sith... Or at least a dark side user. Wurfuhlla's lightsabers were on each side of his body on his belt in the hip regions. Preparing for a use of force the Wookiee take a deep breath and ready himself mentally.

From the first "look man," Cinere already knew what would go down. He'd spent this entire exchange sizing the man up and down and his robed appearance as well as his goody-two-shoes attitude coupled with a lack of minding his own business had already done far more talking than the man himself had. Either he was a Jedi, or he was training to become one, and Cinere had been absolutely positively itching to stumble upon a Jedi. The invasion and fall of Felucia, as well as the bombing of Denon had not only solidifed his distaste for the monks due to their wordless obedience to the Republic, but had also served to further radicalize him and make the Sith teem with anticipation for the day he actually gets his anger out on one of them. Sector Ranger, Jedi--hell, even a Senator--he did not care, he was ready to unleash hell onto whoever happened to be the poor unfortunate bastard to stumble upon the Marauder. And that day had come.

He grew increasingly angry as the gears shifted in his head and as the idiot in front of him kept talking, and the concentration of the Dark side began sticking to him like moths to a flame. He was swimming in malice, a dark cloud hovering over him attracted by the strong emotion. He was channeling it too, letting the darkness flow through him freely, tapping into it and asking for its aid, which it was much obliged to provide. The Force gathered within him, and, as the man spoke, he slowly focused all this pure, raw emotion into gathering it. He thought about Felucia, and how it had slipped from within their grasp so easily and to who? To a bunch of self-righteous idiots with a savior concept? A bunch of mindless bureaucrats drunk on power that they did not have, eager to enforce useless traditions that could only serve to allow them to shrug their shoulders in the face of any problem and say "not my jurisdiction"? He thought about Denon, and how their bases had been bombed in retaliation, about how the Republic's parrots had spent the day before whining and moaning about how unfair and cruel it is to bomb without warning. The rage within him grew, and the dark aura intensified.

"Go! Now!" yelled the man, and before he could even finish the last word, he would feel a surge of pressure behind him shoving him with the power of a rushing speeder, a wave that would make him lose his balance and stumble.

Cinere sprung into action, rushing forward, lightsaber up in his right hand and ignited as he ran toward the man to meet his stumble. He would swipe his blade at the Wookie as he fell forward, slashing at his feet from right to left, aiming to decapitate him at the shins.

"Who are you to tell me to scram like I was an insolent child?" he growled, the darkness in his voice clear and surprising even to himself. It made his blood boil hearing the Jedi speak to him like this, the Jedi that he considered so much lower than him, that scum of the earth.

The force began to coil around Wurfuhlla. He knew what the stranger was looking to do. When Wurfuhlla felt the tug forward, he let it guide him forward, but there would be no stumbling. No instead he would be leaping over the opposition with a forward flip. As he flipped over the Sith striking low Wurfuhlla ignited his blades and set them on both side of the Sith in front of his shoulders. The Wookiee would land behind the Sith after his counter attack, and would prepare for the defense in case his attack had not landed.

The Sith was eager to act on attacking. The Wookiee Padawan had learned to take his time and find the flaws in the attacks of the enemy. Whether they realize or not, the flaws will show in their movement, positioning, and stance. The Wookiee was trained in Soresu and would use this to his advantage moving forward in the fight.

"I am Wurfuhlla. Jedi. I am commanding you leave, as it is not where you belong.. Sith."

The push hit just a few moments before Cinere reached the man, his feet pounding on the ground as he charged. Seeing the Jedi leap forward, the Sith ducked to the right, twisting his body and ending up facing the Wookie who was now up ahead and to the right just as he also turned. The blade of the Jedi's lightsaber wooshed past Cinere's back as he moved, just narrowly dodging it, the heat getting dangerously close to his back. The other one--in the Wookie's left hand--did not even get close to him, instead soaring through empty air with an aggressive hum.

He grinned in the face of the Wookie, the rush of adrenaline coursing through his body and making him giddy. The somersault had been an interesting twist, and had Cinere not charged in like a maniac, could have spelled disaster. There was a reason fighters avoided acrobatics and that was pragmatism. Engaging in things like flips opened you up to a whole lot of interruption that your opponent could use to cut you down.

But here they both were now. Cinere did not throw himself into battle again this time, instead lifting up his lightsaber so that its blade was diagonally in front of his body, in perfect position to block any blow with just the flick of the wrist. The Sith stepped to the right slowly, starting the beginnnings of a semi-circle.

"Sorry to burst your bubble, Jedi, but some of us don't care if we belong or not. We go where we please. You should try it sometime. No need to diminish yourself and your self worth by yielding to the will of others."

Wurfuhlla had watched as the Sith narrowly dodged death, or at least a limb loss. The man was definitely full of himself as well. Just the way he walked around and acted. The Wookiee didn't think anything of it, his focus would be on defending himself from another attack, only now the Wookiee is ready for the force usage as well.

Walking in the semi circle with his blades set in a perfect Soresu form ready to defend he would listen to the useless banter from the Sith. He thinks he can just do as he pleases without repercussion, of course he did.. That's what all Sith do. Just look at the situation with Firrerre. They decided it would be a good idea to just attack a planet for no reason. Now the Wokiee wondered what they wanted with Ord Mantell.

"Why have you come here?"

The Wookiee had stopped the semi circle with the Sith ready for any attack to come his way. The Wookiee would not be foolish enough to run in and try to attack the Sith, instead he would prepare to save himself from a force pull or push, flying objects, or even the Sith running in with his saber for a swing. Defense was what made a god offense is how Wurfuhlla was taught. So let's put that to use.

They paced around until the Wookie stopped the semi circle, once again asking things that were not his business. Cinere didn't expect him to attack, considering the defensive doctrines of the Jedi, but then again, he had also not expected the man taking such lethal action from the start of the fight.

"Personal business," he replied simply. "Why are you here?"

A wave of darkness pulsed through the clearing, as if reminding Cinere why he was here and what he was fighting for. As if egged on by the mask, he swiped his lightsaber down toward the man in a slash that would cut off his left arm if he wasn't quick enough.

He was a bit surprised to see the lack of reaction to his swipe, and satisfaction coursed through his body as his lightsaber sliced into the Wookie's shoulder and exited through his armpit, the man's hand falling uselessly to the floor, lightsaber turning off in his hand. Cinere didn't wait for the Jedi to collapse from the pain to be disposed of; he laced the tendrils of the Force around the Wookie's neck, constricting his airways slowly but surely, the two men close enough that the action was not as difficult as it would have normally been. Besides, the guy had just lost an arm so resistance was unlikely, but Cinere kept his lightsaber ignited in hand just in case the attack was broken through.

The man would black out and lose consciousness within seconds and despite the glaring opportunity he had, Cinere chose not to kill him. Adrenaline aside, he was very aware that the death of a Jedi would be felt deeply in the Force, and he didn't need a beacon pointing out his position so obviously. So he'd just leave the Jedi there in a mound on the ground. He'd grab the Jedi's lightsabers and inspect them, throwing one out into the wasteland and stashing the other on his belt as a trophy.

"Careful not to tire yourself," he remarked sarcastically to the unconscious mass.

Then he would head toward the ship, dark side flowing through the air, having reached a crescendo as he bested his opponent in combat. It was almost like the mask had purposefully orchestrated this encounter, which would not be implausible judging the abilities of the Force--which some may even deem unnatural.

The Imperialis was dimly-lit, the only lighting streaking in through the grimy windows. The interior was in complete disarray, the craft missing entire sectors. The mask was on a hallway, sitting in the dark like that for Force-knew how many years. As Cinere approached, its eyes slowly grew red, as if greeting him, and he could feel a heavy presence in the Force.

He reached to pick it up and the dread grew in his stomach, but he ignored it. He stashed the mask away and moved to step out of the ship.

STRENGTH LEADS TO POWER.

It was unfortunate timing for Wurfuhlla as he had been focused on other concerns around such as the pulse of dark energy. Yes Wurfuhlla could feel it too but he had not need to seek it out, unlike the Sith. Another thing Wurfuhlla felt was the lightaber rip through his shoulder. The pain was burning and unbelievably painful. Just to add to it the young Wookiee was force choked until unconscious. In most situations this would mean the loss of a limb would remain a loss. Though Wurfuhlla had not been then only Jedi present on Ord Mantell.

It would be only a matter of tiem that the healers on the planet would make it to Wurfuhlla and beable to heal the injury and bring the arm back onto the body. Force energy and abilities was a mystery, though Wurfuhlla had accept it many capabilities and had faith in his Jedi brethren. It would only be a matter of time before he was back to normal and ready to fight again. Though it would not be today.

/exit thread

(OOC: Sorry for the time out, got stuff going on with case work and then my NCO's are making me do stuff on top of it plus I'm dealing some personal stuff. Good pvp sesh, I probably won't be using Wurfuhlla anymore. Not enough muse.)
