OOC :: It's just a Droid -- Casual Smuggling RP :: LF - NPCer, PCs.

So, I currently accepted a mission for the Smugglers Association Indie, that my PC is a part of, and I'm looking for either fellow RPers who want to join in on the fun or for someone to RP the NPCs - possibly even both.

The mission is as follows:

Spoiler: It's Just a Droid

Payment: 10,000 credits each
What Needs to be Smuggled: A fairly simple protocol droid
Pickup:Axxila
Destination:Terminus
Risks: Not a lot of information on this one, just someone wants a protocol droid dropped off on a street corner on Terminus. Which means that this is either some weird wish fulfillment thing, or a dead drop, or a trap. Any which way, it's likely to end in violence if you're not careful.
Notes: The droid just keeps saying "They're everywhere and they're out to get me" so bet on the trap option.
Participants:Nova

The description is enough to let you know that it may end up wit a twist or two near the end, so I'm aiming for this to be a fun RP for all parties involved.
I want it to be casual, with a curve ball or two along the way, but without going overboard or getting too serious into PvP. I'm looking for more of a character development thing and the PCs involved establishing connections, rather than a "kill or die" situation or anything that would seriously alter the fate of any character involved.

@Pernicious Ailill seems a very interesting character to RP with, I'd be glad to have him on board. Any ideas concerning how he would join Nova's crew for the mission?
P.S.: So many ii and ll on his name make it hard to read and write it though! XP

@Melomex The more the merrier! I'd be glad to count you in as well, but I'd like to know a little more about your PC. Can you provide me with a link? Also, what role would your droid be fulfilling? That of the antagonist, probably? Maybe, even that of the droid being smuggled?
Let me know your thoughts.

I also want to wait a bit more and see if anyone still wants in or if they want to do some NPCing at all - although two/three people can come up with a story on their own.

@Melomex I think RPing a droid is quite interesting, though I'm not sure the 8D smelter series existed 1000 years BBY. You might want to check that first.

Aside from that, after reading 8D3's profile I have to say that my PC would never hire it as body guard or merc. I can only see your PC trying to prevent me from delivering the droid or, preferably, being the droid I'm supposed to deliver.

One suggestion: Instead of RPing your own character, 8D3, would you mind RPing the NPC droid?

I suppose so, I actually like the idea. The only thing is, Nova won't actively be scouting for members. Meaning, our characters need to meet first, and then mine can bring Ailill into the SA. Keep in mind, I don't like to steer the plot towards any predictable outcome, so Nova may or may not scout your PC.

Having said all that, any ideia how they actually meet? It doesn't have to be overly complicated. If you don't, I can think of something.

I don't like to plan outcomes too much either.

Ailill could have been hired to load up the droid into your freighter when Nova realized he was running late, and decided to take off while Ailill was still on board accidentally? That's pretty much what I've got.

EDIT: Wait, I have another idea. Ailill could have been hired by the client to bring the droid to Nova, but he ends up being too much of a security risk because he heard everything the droid kept saying. Nova would basically make sure he took off while I was still loading the droid onto the freighter to keep an eye on Ailill until the deal was over.

Hiring Ailill to bring the droid seems simple enough to work. Let's see how it goes from there. I can't get a post done now, I plan to do it the next hour or two. If nobody else joins this OOC untill then, we'll start just the two of us.

My plan is to split the RP into 3 parts. Axxila, Terminus, and probably a space station in between. Also RPing the flight time between them. This should give more people the chance to join mid-RP.

Only @Pernicious and @Melomex may join at this point - Although, Melomex, I still need to hear from you to know who you'll be RPing, dude.
New people might join again once the RP move from Axxila into space. And then again, every time the location changes. Post here if you want to join.

No PvPing at this point. I want Axxila to serve as introduction and set the mood for what's to come.

As always, any ideas or criticism are appreciated.

P.S.: Pernicious, feel free to control the NPC droid in your posts. It is, after all, an NPC.

Sorry about the wait. How does my character conflict with the crew?

If it can't join the crew, it could try to prevent you delivering the droid with my character. Maybe as an antagonist to the story.

I'm sorry dude, read the last couple of posts before yours. Jabonicus already offered to do the NPCing. So you won't be controlling the droid anymore. Also, it was always one or the other, not RPing both a PC and an NPC. I apologize if I wasn't clear enough.

Lastly, if you're going against us, please come up with a good reason for it. You can just say, "because I was hired to". But doesn't really add anything to the plot. Also, bear in mind that Jabonicus will now be controlling the "main" antagonists for this mission. It would be best if you were acting on behalf of a third party. In other words, make up your own story for it.

A PC antagonist has the potential to provide a far better and more interesting experience, so do come up with a good plot/background.

P.S.: I still think you should check the availability of your PC droid model on the timeline. I don't think they existed, but I'm not very tech savvy.

Hmm, I can't really think of a creative way for my character to be in the story. I'll watch the thread for some time and see if there is. I should probably add a few motives for my droid in it character thread.

According to the star wars wikia (not really a reliable or canon source) they were around since the rise of the empire times (1000BBY - 0BBY). In canon I defiantly know it was in the times of the original trilogy and 22BBY in the Clone Wars cartoon. If you find anything proving or disproving it, I will be grateful.

Sure. Since you've showed interested from the start, I don't feel like I'm in a position to completely shut you out.

Feel free to post IC at any time, without prior notice on this OOC. If you feel that the situation is never really suitable, don't feel bad for not joining. We can RP together at a later time.

Just be aware that, like I said, I don't want this to turn into the kind of "kill or die" PvP, "shoot first, ask questions later". We can RP a conflict without going all "guns blazing". The mission is to smuggle, and smugglers prefer to avoid a direct confrontation whenever possible. My goal is for all the parties involved to come out of this alive, unless someone does something really stupid... There is, after all, always risk.

Yup, I'm not aiming to kill any PC characters or try to make fights if I join in, my droid can still accept negotiation. I'd rather not create a huge fight scene, it would kind of derail the RP. I will only let the other RPers start conflicts if they want one.
