The "Galactic Evolution"
>> Main Mess hall 2
>> 13:37 Board time

Things have been busy the last few days. There was a lot of training, a lot of missions to supervise and an awful lack of sleep. At least in her opinion. Sure, the meditation could easily replace sleep, was easier and faster... but there was something about the normal sleep she missed. But there was simply not enough time per day to do so.

Now, that she was a Master (something she still had to get used to), she sat in the mess hall and looked around. She just checked the roster this morning and was a little sad to see so many Padawans without a 'master' to train them. So she decided to take a look around and pick one or more additive padawans. Someone she actually could train in a way they actually wanted to evolve. Since she was more of a defensive type, taking a 'hit-first-ask-later-padawan' would certainly prove a challenge.

Nevertheless, she did post a message for all padawans this morning that she was willing to check up on the Padawans aboard the ship to find someone to train and was now actually waiting for some kind of responses.

Anara entered the mess intent on fetching herself some breakfast, not caring it was already afternoon shipboard time, that was something that would take some getting used to. The new timezone. She browsed about the cafeteria and picked a selection of fruits and vegetables, no meat.

She got her tray of food and was about to sit down but decided to view the notice board detaling which masters were looking for padawans. As she mowed over the list she frowned at how few masters there were. She was hoping she might be able to find a master herself, considering there are so many other padawans out there.

Sitting there on the table, the Chiss Master looked around attentively while blending into the crowd by means of movements and mentally. It was actually a small training of a certain Force ability, but the Chiss so far had problems getting this. Sure, she could not vanish completely, but being overlooked could be a tremendous advantage too.

That's when she spotted Anara. The young togruta was standing there and looked at the boards created to help Padawans and Masters get together and train, exchange philosophy and of course follow one of these Master and student relations that somehow got really rare the last decades, as Taruna understood. What most piqued her interest though was the face the young girl made by looking at the board. Was she missing her master's name? Or maybe she was expected to be there too? Either on the Master's list or on the Padawan's list.

Taking off the upper robe and rolling it to a cushion, thus marking her place as 'still used' (and also make her look more a ordinary Jedi then a Master), she moved closer to the Togruta and took a small look with her red glowing eyes over the padawan's shoulder, then speaking up gently "Anything amiss with the list? You look like someone who is searching for something but can't find it"

Jack walked into the mess hall after finishing his workout. He had worked overtime and more often pulled all nighters to train with his lightsaber and study to keep himself up to speed with his fellow padawans. He worked up quiet a sweat and his regime was paying off. His baby fat was burning off and in its place toned muscle

He took a quick scan around spotting some familiar faces including Anara. he placed his towel over his shoulder and grabbed as he joined the queue

Anara turned around to see a Chiss Jedi who she assumed to be a knight or master, judging by how proper she spoke and as a side thought she wondered if she herself will starting speaking like that,"Oh hello..... I was just looking to see if there were any masters still taking padawans.....and it seems they are quite busy already. If you can see over here....I'm right at the bottom. Along with Jack End...", at that moment she sensed the very boy she was talking about and instinctively turns to see him in queue. She had a habit of being able to sense him when she thought about him, like a lot more than she could sense others. Also another thing she noted, has he been working out? She shut her eyes tightly as she tried to discard the thoughts and turned around to continue with the matter at hand and when she opened her eyes her heart started beating fast as she forgot what she was talking about.

"Anyway..."

Taruna indeed took a look at the list and read the name. Anara, huh?

Then she felt the padawan being distracted, a behaviour she did have no difficulty to read, since she knew feelung and urge to turn around when she sensed someone she thouht highly of herself. Following the line of the padawans sight she saw a young boy in line for the food. And she noticed the Togrita's lekku being a little better provided with blood. That made her smile broadly, but she managed to get back to her neutral face before the young one could turn back to her.

"Oh, well. It's less a problem of being busy then it is a problem of compatibility and Skills. Most knights on the list here are quite fresh, as this one.. Lynn for example. I on the other hand.." she then pointed at her Name, Taruna Eskarian "Am still looking for Padawan in need of guidance. Much in the traditional ways went extinct as the Order was forced to hide. Nowadays Padawans can get the Knight status trough classes, training sessons with Knights and masters, via Holoceons and of cours by honing their skills in Missions. Not all padawans can bear the full time tutelage and even less posess the required discipline to listen to the teachings all day. How about you? Are you certain that you can be a good student?"

The last question was asked in a neutral but inquiring way, sincd Taruna did not want to force a decision on the padawan. There were indeed some Masters still looking to train someone. Maybe, but only naybe Taruna either found another padawan or a padawan for a better suiting master. The possibilities at this poinf were still wide open.

Anara's face lit up and she let out her excitement by almost shouting out at Taruna, "You would be my master? Well of course! I'll-I'll make a great student! Yes!", she almost felt like hugging her now, but decided against by pulling back just as she was about to stretch out her arms. Her excitement was a true testiment to how glad she was to finally find a master. Well atleast that's what she assumed she was offering.

Welll.. that was quick the young one's enthusiasm was quite something, that the Master had to admit immediately. But Enthusiasm does not make a compatible padawan.

Smiling down at the Togruta she decided not to crush her enthusiasm all too much "Well, let's say I am willing to have a little chat, to see if we can work together. How about we sit down, eat and get acquainted? This way you don't hop into a scholarship with a master you can not really learn much from, eh?" she ended her little speech with a wink and pointed her nose to her place "It's over there. Grab your food and I am sure we can figure out how to proceed from there."

In fact.. Taruna already decided deep down to give it another try, she did not yet get this into her conscious mind.

Anara was a little hesitant as she sat down where she was indicated. She was definitely aware that her personality was quite flawed and knew for sure she was going to get rejected, "Umm....sure ok. I don't know if you saw or not but my name is Anara. I only just became a padawan a week ago and I haven't had much formal training"

"A pleasure to meet you, Anara. I'm Taruna Eskarian, please call me Taruna." the Chiss answered and went back on her place after a respectful bow.

Sitting back at the table, she took one more piece of the vegetables and gnawed onto it before she decided to start this off with some easier questions. There was no need to know everything about her, she just had to determine if she could train this Padawan, or if not what master she would be best suited to. "As you are accepted as padawan, can I assume you do know the Jedi Code so far?"

She looked down at her plate of salad while she answered,"Well.....no....I haven't been to many classes since I joined. Only about two or three. And that was just a little bit of lightsaber handling and meditation. I was in a small class for Form III training but I mostly just practice with friends or on my own. I haven't really picked up any other skills and I could really use some guidance"

The Chiss' red glowing eyes remained fixated on the young togrita while she listened to her explanations as well as some time after. Taruna did not even eat while she was thinking.

Finally, she spoke up with a smile "That is some pretty impressive insight into your own ability you have there, Padawan. What impresses me the most is the fact that you not sit around until a Master happens to come along but you went on to train with others to improve and prevent yourself from stalling. With that in mind, I would like to propose that we try this. Let's take a month with you as my student and then we will sit together and see if this thing will be plausible for us both. What do you think about this?"

Anara smiled and was glad to hear what Taruna had said and still had some of her previous excitement left in her when she spoke,"Oh yes! Of course! I can't believe I got a master!"

@Taruna sorry for short post, I'm in a thread with like 10 people and I have to write a lot

Taruna was getting optimistic on the enthusiasm and if she learned anything in her time as Jedi then it was the fact that one should make use of momentum as long as it was there. So she slightly leaned forward and asked "Well then, let's jump straight into it. How much do you know about the Jedi, about being a Jedi and the Jedi Code?"

"Umm...well......my mom would teach us about the Jedi order long ago and I don't remember much except: There is no emotion, there is peace. There is no ignorance, there is knowledge. There is no passion, there is serenity. There is no chaos, there is harmony. There is no death, there is the Force. I haven't been taught much other than that"

With a nod she acknowledged what the Padawan gave her in regards of information. It's not a bad start after all, and something that can be easily.. and vastly.. enhanced.

But this also meant she dodged the question what she thinks about actually being a Jedi.
"That's a Jedi Code. It's a older one, but in its essence not wrong. What does it tell you? What do you make of these lines? Everyone does have his own sight of how the Code is to be applied. This diversity is one of the most interesting aspects. And most important will it help me guide you later on"

"And don't really know what to make of it. Like I said, I don't have that much formal training. I wasn't taught any philosophy other than what I was taught several years ago. Which I have now forgotten. I'm mostly too busy to attend some of the classes they offer anyway. My only only real teachers are my fellow padawans that accompany me"

This was worrysome. There was a good thing in padawans training together but also a disadvantage. The plus side of course was that the basics spread more easily but the downside of course the lack of the Jedi Philosophy and spirit. Would this continue, the Jedi would survive, but more like a warrior tribe then a actual order.

Before the troubles she had could become visible too much on fer face, sche changed her focus to more constructive matters "I would like to take a look of what you have learned so far tomorrow, so I can see in what areas I should start the physical training. Knowing why we do what we do and how we are supposed to do them on the other hand is at least equally important. Every Force user can swing a Lightsaber and lift candles with their minds, but what makes a Jedi a Jedi is how and why they do so. Do you understand that?"

"I do, I know very well what the main purpose of the Jedi Order is, if that is what you were asking. Well I guess I'll see you tomorrow then. Thank you, master", she was about to get up when she realised she hadn't even eaten her breakfast/salad, but decided to throw it away anyway. She bowed before she left the mess hall.
