FROM: Special Agent Van Pax
RE: Concerning the Spice Smuggling

Inspector *****, don't worry about it, I'm on the case. I have one informant that is close to *****'s family, and I have an undercover that has burrowed his way in with the ***** ***** right. We want to collect some more evidence before we start making arrests and raiding compounds, but we already have a pretty rock-solid case. Give me two more days and we'll hit them hard. This will permanently put a major dent in (or at least marginally disrupt, as you put it) illicit trading on Coruscant for the foreseeable future.

44 Standard Hours Later:

Special Agent Van Pax, of the Republic Force, fidgeted with the armored vest he had underneath his shirt. Even since that run-in with the Iridonians he had taken to constantly wearing the vest underneath anything he wore while out on assignment. Those Iridonians were a bloodthirsty bunch, and wouldn't stop unless they were out cold or dead. Van had been forced to use lethal force against them, but not before he took a blaster shot to the ribs.

Van stared through his binocs again, watching the trading that was going on nine stories below him. He had to give it to these gangsters, they were in the Coruscanti Underworld, which was infested with Cthon and other vile creatures. Van had already watched the criminals fight off two waves of Cthon, and had only lost one sentry.

What the RSF had originally thought was simply a small spice smuggling ring had turned out to be a full-blown black market including spice, alcohol, and most unexpectedly, individual trafficking and arms trafficking. The investigation was initially slated to last two standard months, but had actually gone half a standard year. The scene below him still amazed Van. It was a huge flea market of illegal goods, with the Kaleesh Triad running the whole operation.

Behind him an RSF SWAT Team was prepping, just like a dozen other SWAT Teams with their Field Agent handlers. In total there were sixty RSF personnel, not including several support members of various law enforcement agencies with jurisdiction on Coruscant the RSF worked closely with.

In about half an hour the SWAT Teams would make their strike, all were heavily armed and armored. Van activated his comlink, "All Field Agents and support staff, make your final preparations. And be ready for some major fireworks, ladies and gentlemen."

Dr. Valentine Lockhart, commonly known as Doc Love, walked into the 'flea market' of every criminal's fantasies, ranging from drugs to illegal fire arms. Lockhart himself didn't care much for most of the products but attended only because of a personal request from his current dealer.
Doc Love was the leader of the smuggling group Terminal. For the last couple months, this black market flea market nicknamed Rat Alley had hired out several of Lockhart's ships to import several of these illegal goods. However, the handlers for the operations here hadn't been paying the amount promised when Terminal agreed to transport goods so Lockhart had come to give them one last chance. The handlers blew it and Lockhart cancelled the contract. As one last request, one of the handlers had requested Lockhart check out the merchandise, even giving him a brocher, though from the looks of things, Lockhart wasn't finding anything he or the three crewmen with him were interested in, though the Zabrak had bought a bottle of some unpronounceable alcohol.
"Let's get out of here," suggested Doc Love. "It's never a good idea to socialize in places like these for too long."

Kalen Navarr walked through the crowded market, feeling almost at home. He had grown up on the streets, had spent a lot of time in places such as these. A flood of memories was surfacing, some good some bad, and he was lost deep in remembrance. But not so lost in his own thoughts that he did not sense the pick-pocket trying to nip his wallet from his pocket. Deftly catching the small hand pulling away from his pocket, he turned around to see a Twi'lek girl looking up with shock and fear in her eyes. Sensing her fear he couldn't help but sympathize with her a little, she reminded him of his own youth, the same desperation, the same fear, but also the same sense of rebellious defiance.

Bending down he whispered so softly that only she could hear, "You need to be more calm while nicking someone's pockets. You stiffed up in fear for a fraction of a second while pulling out my wallet. Most people can't sense the small jerk that creates, but some especially those from the more dexterous and sensitive species can. Might wanna improve that if you don't plan on getting caught every other day." As he finished he saw her eyes even more, shocked at his reply. Giving her a wink he straightened up and looked her over. He was here on business, since leaving the Order some items were more difficult to acquire, places such as these being one of the few places they could be found with ease. He had been tracking one such item for a long time, a favor to a friend, every one seemed to think the ex-thief was the best one to send on such tasks. Off course they were right, but he didn't like being stereotyped. Deciding that the task could wait after checking that his query was not running away just yet, he turned back to the girl, "Come, you look starved. Lets get you something to eat." The Twi'lek was even more surprised, but seeing the kind smile in his eyes she nodded in agreement and gave him a small smile in return as he led her to a small food cart on the street side.

Van and his SWAT Team were stacked up and ready in their transport, which glided silently above the market, all the other SWAT Teams were set up and ready. Now that everyone was in place, anyone down there wasn't getting out. The entire area was sealed off, with backup units waiting on-site for instructions. Van was operational lead, so his command would begin this raid.

Van checked his Carbine Slugthrower one last time. "Locked and loaded," he whispered to himself. "All units, move in now." The craft Van was in dropped almost instantly from ninety feet to thirty feet. When the boosters stopped the craft, Van and his SWAT team rappelled down into the infamous Rat Alley. About six seconds had passed since Van had given the command to commence the raid, and his entire team was already in the center of the market, with other SWAT Teams closing in on all sides, with one other Team dropping in like Van's.

Van hit his comlink, which was now connected with a series of speakers on the SWAT vehicles. "This is the Republic Security Force, everyone face down on the ground with your hands on the back of your head, now!" Van switched his comlink and turned around just in time to see a Rodian charge him with a vibroblade. Van quickly dropped the alien with a burst from his carbine.

All around him humans and aliens alike were either going to go out fighting or were already on their stomachs, waiting. "All units, remember our main target, he is always attended by four bodyguards and is here in the market right now. Target is considered armed and highly dangerous, use extreme caution." Van and his Team dove in to find the ringleader of this circus and bring everyone here to justice. It seemed like most of the criminals here didn't want to die, so had already surrendered themselves. The ones who weren't laying down were the ones Van worried about most.

One of Lockhart's crewman had tried to attack one of the police officers but got a shot in the head for it. Another tried to make a run for it but was apprehended by three men who dogpiled on top of him. Doc Love and the last crewmember raised their hands in the air.
"Thank god you're here," lied Doc Love. "You see, I'm a freelance doctor. This is my pilot. You can even check the docks. We were kidnapped." Doc Love pointed at one of the cages filled with a sickly wookie slave inside. "They're forcing me to treat their slaves. Please, don't let them harm me." The pilot pitched in too. Secretly, Doc Love grinned. He was prepared, as always. Everytime he landed, he would act out a kidnapping so that were he discovered, he could pull out this fake alibi. So far, Lockhart had never had the chance to test it out. Now was the time for the truth of the matter of whether the Republic Security Forces would be fooled or not.

Dropping the fish stick in his hand, Kalen gently pushed the girl, Lyn, to the ground and pulled a crate in front of her, "Stay here." By the time he looked up a pair of RSF soldiers were approaching him, the barrels of their weapons pointed straight at his chest. Raising his hands he took a step forward, moving away from Lyn. "Throwing a party are we, officers? Might I ask the occassion?" Even while speaking these words he moved further away from the girl. He was sure that a large number of the people gathered here were carrying a weapon and it would take only one trigger happy fool to turn this situation for the worse. If it came to a fight he did not want Lyn to get caught in the cross-fire.

So far not many shots had been fired, from either the RSF or criminals. The only ones really fighting back were members of the Triad and a few rough-neck individuals; the rest of the criminals here weren't willing to die for their crimes. That suited Agent Van Pax just fine.

Van kept his carbine trained on the man speaking to him. "Okay, 'doctor,' what is your name? And we are taking your crewmembers and you into custody. I will speak with you later." Van spoke to one of the members of his Team, "Separate the crewmembers from each other and the Doc here immediately, we have officers from the Coruscanti City Police here to assist in that. I will question the doctor after our raid." The doctor and his crewmembers were taken in different directions and given a pat-down before they were put into squad vehicles to be questioned later. The man claiming to be a doctor was put into the back of a caged RSF Speeder so Van could speak to him as soon as possible.

"Agent Pax," A voice crackled on his comlink, "We have apprehended Aldor Kang, repeat, SWAT Team Charlie has apprehended main target and is en route to RSF Headquarters."

"Copy that," Van replied, smiling, "have Coruscanti City Police come in to assist in apprehending and transporting these outlaws." The main man, or rather alien, behind this whole operation was in custody, but the job still wasn't quite over. Plenty of street scum here to clean up. Van gazed over Rat Alley and spotted a man stepping towards two SWAT members, saying something to them.

Van quickly moved towards them in time to hear the SWAT personnel yelling at the man to get down. Van pulled his carbine tightly to his shoulder and drew a bead on the man's heart. "Sir," Van shouted clearly for the man to hear over the buzzing din, "I suggest you immediately drop to the ground with your hands on your head, or you will be leaving here in a body bag. It's your move, partner."

He sensed both Lyn and the man he suspected to be his query, both unhurt and from the feel of it, still free. Sighing deeply Kalen dropped to his knees with his hands on the back of his head, "As you wish, my friend. I don't seek any trouble."
