Characters can't be in this and the Ubiq, sorry guys. Let me know if you want your character(s) removed from the sub-faction, but they're gonna get their brains wiped by an NPC or something if you don't wanna retcon their involvement out entirely.

Unless it was agreed beforehand, wiping minds is something that has to be in agreement, one cannot say, 'oh they're no longer with us, so an NPC wiped their minds'. I believe that's part of the risk one's character takes, being in a secret organization and then becoming a traitor to join the opposing cause.

Well, everyone who wants to join basically gets told that ditching/snitching is putting their character on the fast track to having an Imperial hit squad on their ass. A mind wipe seems like a nicer option than that, since I'm not really into killing people's characters. Not only that, but in the writeup it mentions that every single member is subjected to an exam by a psychiatrist and a telepathic Force user, to make sure they have the right personality for the job and aren't harboring any weird quirks like.. being a raging psychopath or a dissenter, which would be dealbreakers.

edit: The Ubiq hasn't done much missions-wise, which is why I suggested that folks just retcon their characters out. Wouldn't be a big deal.

Just the Ubiq. I think it's okay to be a psycho with a lightsaber, but a psycho with access to spooky Imperial secrets is less of a good idea.

I'll be a psycho with a lightsaber. If you know what I mean.

I think you do know what I mean.

Yeah, they would never put anyone even slightly unstable in a position of leadership within the Ubiqtorate. Totes.

A few things to keep in mind:

1. There's no IC way of knowing right now which Ubiq characters have defected.
2. The fluff about tests to keep out dissenters and whatever is just that. Fluff. No tests are foolproof. No intelligence organization is immune to infiltration, subversion, and defection. Psychic doods can be fooled or undone by other psychic doods or people can just develop quirks: just because someone has no dissenter traits doesn't mean they won't develop any through RP.
3. It's generally bad form to retcon/auto these things. There are good stories to be had here, and IMHO people should just RP it out. One of the very reasons we started this faction is so people can do whatever they want. The main rule, and I think it is a very bracing rule with that, is that there are always consequences to RP, and we prefer to let them play out.

Those are my two cents. I don't have a dood in there, but those who do can and should decide for themselves what they want to do. But right now you have no idea who has or hasn't defected, you have no idea to what extent they have or have not been compromised, and you certainly have no means of going after them without RPing it first.

tl;dr Work with these people who have defected. Outsmart them. RP with them. Overall you'll probably have a funner plot than trying to cauterize plot bunnies/keeping your faction sterile (in every sense of the word).

Best of luck to both sides!

Indeed. While Ubiqtorate currently is being combed over for hints of traitors due to the Royston fiasco, it doesn't mean any defections would be noticed right away. I'm still failing to see why they'd defect in the first place, but that's a personal opinion, not one that ever member has to have.

Indeed. Though from what I've heard there hasn't been much development of dissent, but I'm only going off by second-hand information so I admit I can be incorrect. Write-up discusses interrogation, but not sure if it covers defection/giving intel willingly:

Ubiqtorate Write-up said:
One of the key programs written into the minds of every Ubiqtorate operative is the mind-rub. Upon capture and interrogation by potential hostile forces, the operative's mind enters a deep catatonic state, preventing them from divulging information, nor feeling pain. Their mind essentially shuts down. This state is quite risky, and has frequently put several agents in a deep and prolonged coma (and occasionally death); the only way to reverse the mind-rub is a secret chemical treatment known only to a select few Ubiqtorate medical officers.

There are good stories to be had here

I agree. There is good story potential here (though the entire Operation Liberation Rainbow feels a bit forced). However, that potential is in the story, not the OOC realm. There is absolutely no reason that you and your members should be harassing and stalking one of my members. This conversation in your Skype chat had been brought to my attention:

Code:
Prospero of RP: Who cares? We take her shit
[6:18:34 PM] Prospero of RP: And every time she shows her head in public
[6:18:38 PM] Prospero of RP: Any Open thread she is ever in
[6:18:39 PM] TV's Frank: Just feed her false information.
[6:18:40 PM] Prospero of RP: We will have an OOC task force
[6:18:46 PM] Prospero of RP: Sign up now
[6:18:48 PM] Prospero of RP: Bounty for her
[6:18:52 PM] Prospero of RP: I will give you
[6:18:53 PM] TV's Frank: Use it to lure Besadii forces intro a trap
[6:18:54 PM] Prospero of RP: Ten million credits
[6:18:56 PM] Prospero of RP: If you bring her to me
[6:18:57 PM] Prospero of RP: Alive.
[6:18:58 PM] Prospero of RP: And unspoiled
[6:19:01 PM] Prospero of RP: So I can crush her skull.
[6:19:02 PM] amy myatt: whoa, but isn't stalking her open threads harassment?
[6:19:05 PM] Prospero of RP: lololololololol
[6:19:06 PM] amy myatt: could get us in trouble
[6:19:08 PM] Prospero of RP: No it isn't.
[6:19:12 PM] Prospero of RP: She has a bounty on her ****ing head
[6:19:14 PM] Prospero of RP: She's a criminal
[6:19:18 PM] Prospero of RP: It's pretty straightforward
[12:59:43 AM] jess: [6:25:26 PM] Prospero of RP: And she is basically in RP exile
[6:25:30 PM] Prospero of RP: Because she won't come out to fight
[6:25:35 PM] Prospero of RP: In that case, we win either way.

It's one thing to target someone for IC reasons (which I don't recall Vica having a bounty on her head), but this seems like it's targeting her for OOC reasons. Such harassment has occurred in the past and it is not a fun situation to be in. Bullying has occurred on the site before by targeting characters, such as Norb'aal and Fusion, to name a couple. I myself am the target of bullying by this nature. I have rarely ever put Geist Weiss in an OPEN thread since Purpose because I was discreetly informed that a few members were trying to kill my characters because they didn't like me (not due to displeasure with the character Geist Weiss, but displeasure with the writer me, just like it's appearing here). You'll probably argue that I was being a coward, but why should I have any of my stories ended abruptly because of some jerks. This site has prospered because it has a focus on story, not who is the better PvP-er or whomever can gangbang other characters. I know I am not a good PvP-er. My two first experiences with PvP went very bad (Battle of Noob Hill and Dark Hearts).

So to sum it up: I am formally requesting the cessation of harassment and stalking from this Indie faction against members of the faction I represent.

EDIT: I'm also not seeing where they ICly have information that she is a criminal and an Ubiqtorate agent.

There's no OOC harassment and stalking. The character in question is a pro-Imperial member of the Hutt Cartel. One of the goals of OLR is to either destroy or destabilize that part of the Cartel. Pros' usual hyperbole aside, there's nothing wrong with putting a bounty on a character's head and other people/characters acting on that bounty. It's perfectly normal. How a person chooses to respond to that and what risks they are willing to take is up to them.

In which case I apologize for such reaction. But if this faction truly is wanting to make a good story, feel free to contact the Imperium echelon (namely myself) if you want to coordinate something. Also, I am requesting that if you do plan to steal Ubiqtorate info, to work with us in what information is stolen, as the last time there was a grab for Ubiqtorate intel, there was a bit of a mess.

Still fluff. How is that triggered? Is there a range? How are they programmed? Is it a chip? If they join of their own volition does that mean the chip or whatever doesn't sense hostilities? Like I said. Interesting idea, but needs to be RPed

The rest Brandon more or less addressed. I won't go into the sheer hypocrisy of OOC snooping to then complain about (non-existent) OOC harassment. Some of you need to cura te ipsum. That's all I'll say on that.

I would however like an apology to our members. This is not the first time Imperium guys have come over here and basically started nonsense on false pretenses. And no, I don't excuse you Weiss. Do your due diligence next time. I got this checked out with Brandon inter alia before I mentioned anything and what we are doing is perfectly.

This is simply projection and it's unacceptable. And hey. You have me on Skype. PM me and a relevant admin or we will have crosser words in the future.

Have an everlastingly lovely day!

1. There's no IC way of knowing right now which Ubiq characters have defected.

Not trying to start shit or anything, I'm just coming back and am genuinely curious: since IC motivation/knowledge has been mentioned, what's the IC reason for all of these various characters suddenly quitting their factions and joining this group? I'm not specifically referring to Ubiq characters here, but in general - unless I missed something (which I probably did), it seems like someone just snapped their fingers and *poof* characters were defecting.

If we're going to hold people to IC knowledge and motivations or whatever doesn't it need to go both ways? Shouldn't the formation and recruitment phase of this group be played out IC? I think (and this is assumption on my part, so feel free to ignore - half the time I ignore myself) part of the reason folks keep referring to this being "forced" is because of what I've just mentioned.

Now, with that done, I'm gonna go re-read Pros' description of Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches while drooling copiously.

I think that's a fair point, but the difference is ICly this is a faction with no leadership (or very little) and basically a type of almost third or fourth-wave terrorist group. Think Vikings meets ISIL meets the classic Star Wars Rebels. As I've pointed out, all you have to do to join is be able-bodied and say you're in. We have no ranks, no structure, etc.

On the other hand, forcibly wiping someone's memory because something something faction is a whole 'nother kettle of fish, but that's not up to me. That's between the Ubiq players and whoever their leader is. Generally speaking as it intersects with OLR, my advice is to RP it out and to you know. Not be a dick.

One does apologize for being given segments of a conversation that gave an incorrect impression of what is going on, and attempting to defend my members.

If you wish to work out plots, please let me know. The empire is more than willing to work with other factions to keep things moving. There is no need for OOC deception/tactics as the conversation segments had implied.

Calling all OLR members

If there are any who like to assist Renald and the CLF, which is now a sub-faction of OLR, I have two related missions.

The Imperium has a propaganda machine and there is no reason the CLF can't. A team will break into the central holo center on Corellia and hijack it implanting a program that will run a propaganda holo on a loop. The holo will include denouncing the Imperium replaying the Empress's atrocity and a call to fight. Hopefully riots and increased membership for the CLF and OLR will ensue. At the same time this happens another team will do the same thing on Drall. The idea being the more worlds in the Corellian system that are unstable the better.

Each one will need 2-3 members.
