((Just FYI, the boarding harpoons are loaded with the coma gas))

"All vessels in position, you really think we can pull this off, dear?" Darren said quietly, barely heard amidst the chattering of the pilots she was monitoring. "We should be able to and it's not like we're trying to go very far or very fast." once more turning the comm on, she spoke to her fleet, "Coords have been transmitted, jumping in 5. 4. 3. 2. 1."

With a flash, the entire group jumped into hyperspace, the captured vessels forcibly slaved to the vessels on their outer skin. They exited about two light years out, not wanting to strain the hyperspace generators more than they had to. For the moment, the entire group just sat there.

As they neared where the boarding might happen Zaneak signaled to his soldiers. "Masks on lads." Zaneak watched as the troops slipped on the gas masks, in close combat like this the acrid stench of burning flesh could gag a man and make him unfit to fight, these would keep out those smells, as well as any harmful gases.

((The Alsakan ships were surrounding the ship you are boarding while you decided to join to hyperspace, thus moving. Some are near it already, while others are farther away. You sure that there would be, conveniently, no ships blocking your path into lightspeed, especially since this is the flagship you're trying to board?))

((OOC: I'm aware of that. but they're also approaching from the planet's gravity well, and I'm jumping away from the planet's gravity well. Essentially, I'm jumping on their approach vector. The best way of saying this is the alsakan fleet won't have been able to.... interdict the vector of the jump. To be perfectly frank, if I hadn't conceptualized this almost perfectly, such a jump would have been almost perfect suicide. Having so many small engines running such a large mass, they'd be slow as hell and taxing their engines to the limits. If the calculations weren't perfect, the meshing incomplete, the freighters distributed unevenly across the hull, or any single problem of the multiples I haven't mentioned or thought about, the ships in transit would risk veering in hyperspace, incomplete jumping (where parts of the vessels get sheered off by the closing window), or any of a dozen other problems. At this point, the approaching alsakan flotilla would be the least of Miran's worries, even were they actively shooting at her. They'd be taken fully into account, because each vessel has 23 of her own freighters on it, which means she has the lives of about 150 of her people per cruiser. If she hadn't taken everything into account, she'd owe a lot of people pensions... Besides, she had a full three minutes since she began making the calculations before your fleet even got there. I admit, it's a bit of a stretch, but it's still feasible and, with the proper setup, doable in the SW universe. Just wait until the next space battle I get into if you want to talk about insanity ^.^

Woah.... quite the block of text there >.<))

((You're mad, in any case. :p

You should make some sort of post, unless you don't plan on boarding.))

((OOC: in all actuality, I don't.... I can't risk too much damage to my booty, so I'll wait for the republic to finish up over metellos and send a few ships out ^.^ Besides, these are light freighters, they don't have the man-power available to board three enemy cruisers.))

Shortly after the jump, a freighter broke off from each of the vessels and took several potshots at the engines and comm arrays of the larger vessels. They wouldn't be jumping away, nor sending distress calls.

"Is the message ready yet?" Miran asked quietly, still processing the data from the fight and checking herself and her actions, trying to see where she could have done better. She'd lost six ships today, and whether or not they managed to destroy a significant portion of the alsakan flotilla with their nuclear detonations about two minutes after they'd jumped didn't much matter to her, she'd still lost 13 people, the rest having barely survived.

"Yes dear, the message torp has already jumped. It should arrive within the next few hours. The Republic will be here by the end of the day." Darren's reply wasn't particularly soft or quiet, but it held a gentle and sympathetic undertone, barely heard. At another time, in another place, he might have wrapped his arm around her, but here, not knowing what would happen or even how effective the subduing gas had been, they simply waited for the republic to arrive.

The brig did not include gas masks as standard emergency equipment, and the crew was afflicted as a result. Freyr leaned on the seat of the deck officer, straining to see status reports of the vessel over the unconscious form of the man in charge. The engineers were already at work, properly equipped for the job.

The captain does not know how long it would take to stem the release of the gas. Captain Kange fell unconscious on the floor, becoming oblivious to the situation.

((Markus used his fleet's harpoons to latch onto 3 of our cruisers, did a mini-hyperspace jump with us in tow, and disabled our comm and hyperdrives. Then, they sent a message to the Republic to pick us up. The harpoons were armed with a coma gas to knock out the crews, though the engineers are on the job, properly equipped to combat the gas.))

The Admiral who had the flag at Anaxes wa fairly bored when the message arrived. he had had little to do this day, since Colonel Hurley had left to his various meetings, and aside from keeping an eye on the situations at Metellos and Coruscant, as well as making sure the feeds from the cameras at Ruan and Bessimir continued to work to show the evil Alsakans and the brave band of civillians warding them off. A young Lieutenant rushed up to him, "Admiral," he snapped to attention and saluted.

"At ease, Lieutenant," he replied, before adding, "carry on."

"We have recieved a message from the civillian faction who engaged the Alsakans at Bessimir. They claim to have incapacitated three cruisers and have them ready for us to pickup, along with most of the crew as in tact PoWs."

"Interesting," replied the Admiral. He was wary, of course, such a thing was odd. What were the motives of this group, to do such a thing? Was it a trap? According to the advanced radar systems and the pictures sent by the faction, there were indeed just the three cruisers and the freighters, and in dead space there was nowhere for other ships to hide. Still he had to be careful, in case the cruisers were not as "dead" as was claimed. He turned to the Lieutenant, "Dispatch Captain Knite with a small task force. Seven ships should be plenty. Make sure he takes a prison ship to accommodate the guests." After replying in accordance the Lieutenant hurried off.

***

Aurelius Knite sat in the bridge of the Republic Cruiser Indomitable as his taskforce neared the end of its short hyperspace journey. The task force consisted of eight ships in total, two cruisers, two destroyers, three frigates and a large, but mainly empty detainee prison ship. It had limited weapons, and was meant for transporting, or holding, prisoners under guard of warships. Before lon they shuddered out of hyperspace to see the three hulking cruisers in the distance, and a large number of freighters, buzzing around them, their engines looking like fireflies. The warships formed up in a straight line, the prison ship behind, for its safety, and they drove towards the ships. Aurelius spoke to a number of bridge officers, "Send a message to the freighter. Introduce us, and request a full sit-rep. Then ping each of the Alsakan ships, give them ten minutes to respond. Either they deactivate all systems but life support and allow us to board, or we open fire. Prepare the boarding parties, fighters and freighters. Stop just out of range of the Alsakans in an inward facting semi circle, keep the detainee craft out of range at all times. Charge weapons and shields, ready for activation."

A chorus of "yes sirs" later and the ships had arrived, just out of range, and had formed up. The messages had been sent and Aurelius smirked; this would be very good.

Darren had dozed off, snoring softly with his chin resting on his chest. Miran was so completely lost in thought, she missed most of the innitial comm and had to replay the message. Smacking Darren lightly on his arm, she told him to pass the republic ships the prepared sit-rep, along with a copy their letter of marque. "Be sure to mention the coma gas, we don't want their combat performance diminished any."

Darren, already having sent the sit-rep, replied. "It's already in there. You've told me that three times already, Hun. Relax." Grumbling something inaudible, she sighed and turned her attention to the viewport. "You mention that the Alsakans' comms a..." "Yes." Darren cut her off, a slight edge appearing in his voice. "They know not to expect a reply from them. Miran. Be patient. There will be plenty to do once we start boarding the cruisers."

Miran sighed once more and returned her gaze to the view port, where she could barely see the drive trails of the approaching republic ships. One of these days I'm going to install a dejarik board in here. Maybe then I won't be so bored.

Zaneak realized something was wrong when communications with the bridge cut off. He motioned to a young lieutenant to take charge of the Marines and he walked briskly to the bridge. He opened the door and took in the scene, everyone was slumped at their posts, probably a coma gas of somesorts. Zaneak saw Captain Kange and he walked over to him, taking a small syringe of a chemical he injected it into the Captain's arm, that would hopefully wake him up. The ship had an ample suplly of teh adrenal stimulants so he ordered a medic to come up and start administering them. He checked the air with his armors sensors, the vapor had cleared. That was when he looked out and saw the Republic ships,

"Aww shit."

Freyr groggily got to his feet, muttering a word of thanks as he cleared his head. For a moment, the captain looked dazed, his eyes not concentrated on anything in particular. Then, the Alsakan remembered what he was doing before, and looked at the status screen, still rolling off figures and words. It was then, that the captain saw something moving in space: a small Republic fleet approaching them.

He gave a sigh. "Don't revive any crew members unless they are needed to maintain the ship's absolute vital systems. Even if we could get the crew ready, we won't stand a chance against them in combat." The captain's words were a little slurred, as though he had too much to drink. It was all a side-effect of the gaseous drug.

A flutter of feathers indicated that the captain's falcon had somehow avoided getting neutralized by the gas, landing on Freyr's right shoulder. It looked out the viewport, interested in the Republic ships.

Answer the sodding message.

((:CIsee:))

Zaneak saw the message indicator on the ships comms, he hit the button and the face of a republic naval personaell appeared. Zaneak listened to the demands and gave a sigh, "Very well. We will power down our systems." He then terminated the message. He turned to Captain Kange, "Captain, See if our engineers can juryrig the hyperdrive to get us out of here, however I only want us to leave after the inevetable Repblic boarding parties are on the ship."

((Ahem, we can scan if you power weapons and shields etc down. And assume we sent a recorded message in a droid in an escape pod. Then assume you sent the same droid, with a new message, back.))

An Ensign announced in surprise that they were powering down. Good. Aurelius turned to another officer, "Bring the task force in close, keep our main cannons targeting their critical systems at all times, and prepare to raise shields if they try and pull anything. Once we're in close I want all the battle ships in our fleet anchored to all of theirs. Each one has three strong anchors, so each can attach one to an enemy ship. Use the strongest alloy chains and stick at least one to either the engines or life support. If they try to run and hope to break the chains, they'll break themselves before we blow them to bits."

The ships slowly and meticulously moved in and arranged themselves as per Aurelius' orders. If by some miracle even one of the ships managed to reingage it's hyperdrive, it would not go very far, as they would not be strong enough to drag the Republic ships with them. The finished product looked like a mass of ships, more than an intracate spider's web of anchors, as their dark colour was barely visible in the cold dark of space. As soon as they were steady Aurelius calmly turned to another officer, "Instruct the prison ship to move up."

((Fine then.))

"I'd advise against it, Major," said Freyr. "It would take hours before the hyperdrive could have a chance of coming back online. We've been efficiently incapacitated for travel. Don't try to harm the Republic boarding parties. Even if we kill all of them, they have their battleships ready to destroy all of us. Better to live to fight another day."

The captain watched grimly as one ship, which he suspects to be a prison ship due to its lack of visible weaponry, made its way towards them. He laid a hand on the back of his falcon, who seemed aware of the dire situation the Alsakan cruisers were in.

Zaneak nodded to the Captain and told him, "Tell the senior officer of the boarding party he can talk to me in my cabin."

Zaneak then walked down the hall to his cabin where he activated the shipboard comm, "Marines, do not attack the Republic forces, it would merely be a waste of resources. Let us live to fight another day."
