Name: Orin Sev
Common Alias’s: Sev, Ore
Faction: Mandalorians
Rank: Verde
Species: Human
Age: 36
Gender: Male
Height: Six feet, four and a half inches
Weight: Two hundred and forty-five pounds
Eyes: Brown
Hair: Black with splashes of gray
Force Sensitive: No

Strongly masculine features give Orin a rather adamant, commanding face. His jaw is wide and strong, often covered by a thick beard which is shaved only in the event of formal matters but quickly replaced soon thereafter. He has obdurate brown eyes and black hair slicked and peppered with gray (mainly around his temples and beard) from stress. His body is well trained and dotted with large, powerful muscles which cover his equally large and powerful frame giving him obvious natural strength even among his fellow Mandalorian brothers and sisters. His body is laden with small scars of both edge and flame from skirmishes underwent in his younger years, his time as a gladiator, as a mercenary, and as a warrior for his people in the last civil war. However few stand out as much as the ones that line his back from his days as a gladiator and the two which slice across the left side of his face from his eyebrow to his check. One, he claims was from a Loyalist’s blade during the Mandalorian Civil War and the other was from his first gladiatorial fight at age twelve . The scar along his chin, he jokes, is from a dispute he had with a whore he fancied during his years as a mercenary. Orin also has two tattoos on his body, one on each arm with the one on his right arm being the symbol of the mercenary company he was with and the one on his left being the symbol he chose to take as a gladiator. Finally, his skin is bronzed from years of training and caring to his fields under the sun.

Weakness is not something Orin either knows or respects. His adopted father had trained him and Corden to become strong, powerful men even from their time as children. What time wasn’t spent laboring in the fields was spent pushing them to the brink of death in order to purge the fault of weakness from their bodies. From this training Orin accepted that weakness was an undesirable trait so great that if one did not desire to cleanse it from their being that they were not worthy of his presence. Only the strong could be Mando’a and the strong held no weakness.

Fierce loyalty and incorruptible pride are two attributes that any who know Orin claim he has much of and more. His loyalty and pride in his clan and for all of his fellow Mandalorian brothers and sisters is simply unrivaled. During the Mandalorian Civil War, Orin saved three men under perilous and impossible odds claiming that “Aliit ori'shya tal'din” family was more than blood, stating that although not of his own flesh he looked upon them as family and that he could not leave them to die. He is also an avid supporter of his clan due to the pride he has for it.

Some say brothers have a bond that is so indestructible that despite any strain or issues forced upon it that it cannot break. Although that bond can be strengthened or weakened it can never be destroyed and the same applies to Orin for his own brother. Although adopted, Orin has always lived by the words Aliit ori'shya tal'din claiming that although Corden and he may not be of the same blood that they shared the same father and mother and are essentially the same as blood brothers. Orin is also an avid supporter of his brother’s leadership as Mand’alor. He believes under Corden’s rule that the Mandalorian people will return to their original roots and retain the ancient ways and traditions that were necessary for preserving the strength of the Mandalorian people. Despite his relation to Corden, however, Orin does not actively announce their relationship. His reasoning is bred from a desire to be weighed by his own actions and merit rather than be weighed in consideration to the station and status that his brother commands.

Despite his large and gruff exterior, Orin hides a fairly adept strategist. Although preferring to be the common grunt Orin does have the capabilities to lead and direct men if necessary. His personal belief is to dismantle enemy forces by exterminating key components rather than mindlessly dwindling numbers. An example would be that Orin would rather have a key general assassinated rather than 2,000 foot soldiers as he believes a lack of leadership causes defeat more than overwhelming numbers. His reasoning for that is because he finds men without stable leadership often become uncoordinated and open themselves for assaults that could dismantle their entire force. He also prefers this method as he believes the fear inspired by assassinations decreases the common man’s moral immensely as they fear they themselves could be attacked at any moment. However, the direct approach is just as deadly when dealing with a man like Orin as his powerful frame spearheading the storming of a base is a sight that can be described as something little less than terrifying.

Orin has also been known to enjoy the occasional cigar when the situation permits it.

An impressive combatant in all walks of war, Orin is a deadly force on the battlefield. Large and imposing, Orin’s powerful muscles give him a strength in close quarters that many opponents are ill-suited to combat against. He’s also immensely talented with a blade meaning knives or any other edged weapons give him a superior advantage over any unarmed combatant and even over most armed combatants. His favorite close ranged weapon is undoubtedly the traditional beskad which he wields with unnatural proficiency. His skills are not limited only to that of blades and brawn, however. Reach and precision are equally important for a man of Orin’s trade and as such his shot is rather skillful. Although not as adept as he is with a blade his skills with a blaster could put to shame any average mercenary which means whether at range or two inches from his opposition he’s still capable of doling out death with lethal efficiency.

During his time as a mercenary, Orin also became a decent mechanic. Prone to strings of bad luck which would ruin his engines and pulverize his ship’s internal systems, Orin became accustomed to doing regular maintenances and learning a few extra tricks along the way from fellow mercs. Although by no means the best or even upper tier, Orin can be a decent backup in the case of a mechanical emergency.

Item Name: Orin’s Beskar’gam
Manufacturer: MandalTech
Classification: Assault Armor
Composition: Lightweight beskar and durasteel alloy layers form the exterior while a middle layer is comprised of ballistics gel and an interior layer made up of thin, replaceable ceramic plates which disperse the physical and blast impacts forced upon it which lessens chances of injury or knockdown. EMPS were also lessened due to micro-layers of dampeners built within to protect sensitive electronics.

Armor Systems: The suits environmental capabilities allowed the wearer to have resistance to both extreme heat and extreme cold, allowing Orin to be able to visit most planets without worry of overheating or freezing. It also has the capabilities to recycle water waste such as sweat and recycle it into pure, drinkable water. The suit can be fully sealed, allowing Orin to survive in the vacuum of space for a period of time. Magnetic grapples are underneath each boot, enabling Orin to activate them at any time to remain firmly planted to the metallic surface underneath. The suits knuckle plates also have retractable vibroblades which provide him a deadly weapon in the event of close quarter encounters.

Helmet Systems: Orin’s helmet has an oxygen filtration system which allows the suit to filter out any harmful chemicals in the air (airborne poisons, natural air of the visiting planet, etc.) allowing for clean oxygen in most environments. The helmet also comes with a voice modifier which can be used to mimic the voices of others or distort his. A rangefinder was built into the helmet allowing Orin to zoom in on distant objects, telling him basic information such as species, range from target, size, and the current movement speed of the target. The rangefinder can also lock onto targets, allowing Orin to constantly track them. Orin can track up to thirty hostiles at one time.

A Multi-Frequency Targeting and Acquisition System is included in the helmet, enabling Orin to see in the most dismal of conditions such as smoke, rain, and other such ‘blind’ situations and with the help of Holographic Vision Processors, creates holographic images of the surrounding terrain in a 360 degree view. The helmet also comes equipped with a built in communications system with advanced encryption software, enabling him to contact COs and other squadmates without fear of being overheard. Polarized lenses are also built into the helmet to protect against intense glares.

Helmet HuD:
Target identifying system in Helmet HuD: Friendly targets are outlined in blue, neutral targets are outlined in white, enemy targets are outlined in red, and important people/items (generally mission objectives) are outlined in gold.

A 3D Battlefield Map is placed on the lower middle with the targeting reticule dominating the center piece, above it is a display showing the direction in which Orin is traveling (North, South, East, and West). A suit integrity meter is located on the left side; with the radar placed in the lower left corner beneath it (the radar was also capable of scanning the HoloNet). O2 levels and toxicity levels takes its place in the top right corner with the atmospheric condition statistics underneath it covering the majority of the right side with the altitude monitor taking its place below the atmospheric condition stats.

Vision modes: Infrared, Thermal, Night Vision.

Classification: Light Repeating Blaster Rifle
Manufacturer: Mandal Hypernautics, Small Arms Division (formerly MandalTech)
Designer: Shilan Vencu
Magazine/Power Cell Capacity: Tibanna Cartridge (250 rounds), Sig Cartridge (125 rounds)
Rate of Fire: Automatic
Description: A design not unlike the famous WESTAR-M5 of the Clone Wars, the Firestorm is both reliable and powerful. As a light repeater, it was primarily intended to fill the role of a squad support weapon, but not surprisingly, has found much wider use within the Mandalorian ranks as a standard assault rifle. It is lightweight, easy to maintain and operate, and has an extremely high rate of fire. It is also easily modified, allowing operators to both upgrade and add on to the design at their discretion. The original schematics and factory molds were secured by Coro Kevara for use by the separatists and all copies were erased or destroyed. Orin’s Tracyn’buurenaar is considered highly modified to the point where the gun hardly resembles its original counterpart if at all (at least not externally). Modifications include a new ergonomic design which makes the gun easier for Orin to aim, steady, and fire more effectively now. An optical scope attachment has also been added which is capable of multiple levels of magnification which allow precision shooting. The guns targeting system can be hooked up to his beskar’gam’s optic system via photoreceptors on the weapon. Other modifications have made it capable of switching to different firing modes such as semi-auto and burst fire in order to make it more lethal at longer ranges.

Classification: High-Powered blaster pistol
RPM: Semi-auto
Manufacturer: SuroTech
Description: A pistol of hefty weight and heavy fire, the DE-10 Blaster Pistol is considered a powerful weapon within a trained marksman hand and has been known to have some good ‘power’ behind it. The DE-10 had a range up to 65 meters which made it a solid all-around weapon. Orin’s own lacks the scope which is commonly associated with the DE-10 and also has had the barrel noticeably reduced lengthwise. These slight modifications hint at further ones that have altered more of the guns original statistics. Orin claims that although these modifications have reduced the range of the gun by a few meters that it has been more than made up in exchange for the power it can produce, making Orin’s sidearm as equally trust as it is lethal.

Classification: CQC blade
Manufacturer: MandalTech
Length: 45 cm
Composition: Durasteel
Description: A tradition sword of the Mandalorian people, the beskad still holds a place within the modern times of combat. Roughly 45 cm in length, 6 cm in thickness, and weighing in around 2 kg, the beskad strongly resembles that of a machete with the balanced feel of a hammer. The blade is sharpened on only one side with grooves down near the hilt to utilize the blade as a saw as well. The hilt is covered in leather to provide a better grip. The beskad is one of Orin’s favorite weapons if not his very favorite. He has been trained in its usage since childhood and surprisingly used it as his main weapon throughout his gladiatorial and mercenary campaigns. In short, the weapon has become merely an extension of his arm and he uses it just as fluidly as if it were.

-C/K25 Holdout Blaster
A tiny blaster designed to be invisible to sensors, this powerful little pistol is potent enough to kill a human, and this is a last-resort weapon with such short range that it doesn't even have iron sights. Reloading is facilitated by swapping out the entire central core of the weapon with a fresh core, as firing this pitiful little weapon seven times will destroy the delicate circuitry of the core entirely even though it doesn't drain the power cell. Orin often carries two of these little buggers on his person at all times.

Classification: Retractable Light Vibroblades
Manufacturer: MandalTech
Length: 17.78 cm
Composition: Durasteel
Power Source: MandalTech P40 Micro Power Cell
Description: The M-1 is lethal, effective, and inexpensive to produce. Like most vibroblades, it uses supersonic vibrations to further enhance its slicing and cutting power, rending armorweaves and other light body armors more vulnerable to such attacks. However, the simple M-1 was slightly lacking what Orin was interested in. Instead, the Mandalorian fitted an M-1 to the top of each gauntlet inside hollowed out crevices which are held inside via retractable springs allowing the blade to be concealed until the blades are sprung, giving him a very surprising and very deadly advantage in close quarters situations.

Corden Vencu (PC): The elder, adopted brother of Orin, Corden Vencu is the current Mandalore of the Mandalorian people. Orin holds a deep familial respect for Corden and characteristically of a younger brother he often looks to him for affirmation in his decisions.

Compes Company (NPC group): A group of freed slaves who formed into a mercenary company in order to carve out a living. The men are well trained and decently armed but are well known for their commitment to secrecy when regarding past missions. They are old comrades of Orin’s from when he himself was among their ranks. Now, they remain timely allies when needed. During the Mandalorian Civil War there were rumors that Orin called upon their ranks to help the Separatists in their battle with the Loyalists. This has not been confirmed or denied.

Orin was born on Manda’yaim to a rather prideful Mandalorian couple within one of the small communities of the planet. His father was claimed to have been a strong and stalwart man who had been a faithful warrior and servant of the Mandalore since his initiation. His mother was described to him as a slim, lithe, and pretty figure that had more Mando pride coursing in her veins than most men. It is said that his father had passed into the manda when he went on a scouting mission within the outer rim. His mother, broken and weak from the news began to descend into despair. She would later join her husband by her own hand. Orin Sev, little more than a babe had been left alone in a cruel world by cruel fate. But, the Mandalorian’s would not leave him that way.

The Mandalorian’s were people of strong beliefs over the adoption of children into their aliit and these beliefs were deeply upheld by the people of Manda’yaim. But even among them one family stood out above the rest: aliit Vencu. Kad Vencu, the descendant of the man who had discovered the rich beskar veins underneath their homestead was a skilled metalworker and a man of exemplary ethics. He took the toddler into his arms and simply stated “Ni kar'tayl gai sa'ad” (I know your name as my child). Without doubt or hesitation he had accepted the boy into his aliit. He was now one of clan Vencu and he was now as much of Kad’s flesh as his own son and daughter.

Eventually, as his adopted father’s supply of beskar dwindled and waned he was forced to return to his fields to cultivate and harvest the crops as a mean of making a living and providing sustenance. The work was difficult and yielded little. The majority of his work went to his children’s mouths and the little remaining went to the market for paltry sums. Yet, these concerns meant nothing to him when compared to the new tragedy which befell his family; his wife, Cadil, became plagued with illness. Shortly after her sickness, Saris, Kad’s eldest and only daughter donned her green armor and set out with a group of Mandalorian mercenaries in the pursuit of glory and riches. Cadil passed into the manda in tow soon after her leave. Kad resumed work on the fields.

Kad and his sons toiled on the fields for the years following Saris’s leave. Kad often kept an open ear for news of her adventures or for messages home but received little. Kad taught his sons how to fight, how to survive, how to live as a true Mandalorian, and how to perform their duties to their Mand’alor and their fellow vod during whatever time they didn’t spend tilling the fields. These lessons were what drove both Corden and Orin to despise weakness due to their father’s own hatred for it. His training regimen nearly killed them due to its severity but the brothers forced themselves through it all the same in order to attain the approval they desired from their father. But it was more than just approval that Orin did this for. Even though only a young boy, Orin understood with full clarity that his father had taken him in when he was an orphan within an uncaring world. It was only through Kad’s generosity and honor as a man that he was a part of aliit Vencu or even really a person who was worthy of mention. He owed him and he knew it. Sweat, blood, pain, he’d offer that and more for his father to have pride in him.

At age eight, Orin watched Corden as his brother went out to talk to the man that stood on their doorstep. He claimed he was Saris’s husband and he laid the jade armor of their sister into Corden’s hands before departing. Saris had left this world with only her armor to hold her her memory.

At ten, after Corden’s success in his trials to manhood - known as the verd’goten – Corden began taking contracts and disappearing for periods of time before returning to aid them in the fields. He trained all the harder on his own with his father to prepare for his own upcoming trial when he turned thirteen. Two years passed like this, broken up into spans of farming, visits from Corden - hearing his tales of adventure, and intensive training. But Orin’s life would soon change. At age twelve, while sleeping in his room, tragedy struck. Thieving slavers had broken in to the Vencu estate. His father had been shot repeatedly on low settings to cause painful burns to the man’s body as a means of torture and enjoyment for the men who perpetrated it. The estate had been razed by fires which they cast upon it and the corpse of his father. He however, did not get to die that night. Despite his fighting, he could not flee and they refused to take his life despite his desire to die alongside his father. No, these men had found him to be a perfect specimen for slavery and that was where he was destined to go.

At age twelve, members of the Imperium and the Alliance are one of the following: privileged nobles, average middle class, or lowly street rats. All of these, whichever the case, are superior to slavery. Some would say otherwise but the truth is the truth and the truth was that slavery was no easy feat to endure; especially as a Mandalorian. Even though only a child, a twelve year old Mandalorian was considered as deadly an opponent as the average soldier at this point and that did not go unnoticed among the gladiatorial slave owners of whatever backwater planet he had been transported to. Men threw mass amounts of credits around in a monetary fight for his submission to their ownership. And among them only one man realized the potential that the young boy presented. His name was Leobis Casserus, one of the more well-known slave owners who contributed to the gladiatorial pits. Orin was taken to his new quarters within Leobis’s estate after his purchasing. The next day of the rest of his life would begin tomorrow.

Although some people may give up all hope when sold into slavery, Orin Sev was not some people. Orin was still a Mandalorian and with that his identity was unbreakable. While overseers whipped him to make him do their bidding he merely resisted. He was a Mandalorian. He bowed to no other man’s whims but the Mand’alor himself and even that was circumstantial. Whips and other instruments tore and whacked as his body to force him to submit yet nothing occurred from it but more defiance. For six months this carried on before Leobis went to the small cell-like room Orin had been confined to for beating a guard to near death for demanding him to lick the sand off of his sandals. Leobis at first threatened to kill him but quickly realized how little a threat that posed to a Mandalorian such as Orin. Eventually, Leobis made Orin a proposition: freedom. He claimed that if Orin could live through these trials, these perilous games of death that he would one day be set free. He claimed that it could be today, tomorrow, or even a score but at least if he went with their desires that he could one day have the goal he himself desired. Orin agreed to these terms and began training under the tutelage of older, more experienced slaves all in the pursuit of gaining freedom. Despite his compliance though, he never forgot his true place as a Mandalorian.

Years passed in this way. Orin was pit against monsters and men alike in an attempt to watch his blood spill across the sands. Yet this never occurred. Each man or thing sent against him came away from it with a missing limb - if the crowd deemed it acceptable - or death. The crowd had begun to enjoy the boy’s mastery of dealing death and after discovering his backstory many began to refer to him as “Mandalore the Enslaved” or “The Mandalorian in Chains”. After six years delivering death, his master, Leobis, had confided to Orin on his eighteenth birthday that he had been released from slavery. With no money or knowledge of how to return back to his homeworld, Orin resulted to signing on with a company of mercenaries to gain passage off world and to gain a wage to one day purchasing a way back home.

For six years, he stayed in the company of the mercenary group comprised of former slaves like him who called themselves the “Compes Company”. Orin would perform numerous assassination, snatch-and-grab, and rescue missions on behalf of his contractors alongside the Compes Company. After making enough money to depart, however, he abandoned the Compes Company in order to book passage home. Although it was hard to give up his companionship with the members he felt it was necessary to return to his Mandalorian roots and to try and find his brother.

Upon returning home and finding Corden he was welcomed back with arms wide open. He was accepted as an adult after taking his late verd’goten in order to start and finish the trial that he was never able to start due to his kidnapping and to show his respect for Mandalorian traditions despite the fact that many said he had already proven himself a man and did not need to undergo the trial of adulthood any longer. Members of Corden’s Te Atiniiryc Kisol would later train and aid the young man into enhancing his skills under proper Mandalorian regimens. From there, Orin would serve alongside Corden and other fellow Mandalorians in missions, wars, and more; proving and showcasing the honor of aliit Vencu.

The event that would later be dubbed the Mandalorian Civil War would greatly change that, however. Aliit Vencu was cast down as wild heretics as Corden announced his opposition against the current Mand’alor’s weakening of the Mandalorian people with his compliance to unfavorable terms proposed by the Galactic Alliance. Naturally, Orin joined his brothers side immediately following the announcement of the Mandalorian Separatist Movement. Many others besides those of aliit Vencu also rallied to the call such as Ordo, Bralor, and numerous subclans. Orin took on multiple missions throughout the war’s short but fast-paced life. His job, as assigned by Corden was to lead groups of commandos into fortified structures which held important commanders of the Loyalist faction. He was ordered to either imprison them or kill them depending on their actions. Some came willingly, some fought back. In the end, not once did he fail at his directive.

Now, after taking a short leave of absence to mourn for the loss of his father which he had neglected to do throughout his time as a slave he has returned to his duty to aid his fellow vod.

Major props go out to Corden for allowing me to use this character concept and helping me a ton throughout the character creation process. Also a thanks goes out to Jiang for letting me use one of his original weapons.

So, I'm not sure what there s to critique.

Structure is organized and neat.
Details are simple yet informative.
Though the history was short for the time span, I feel it did well in providing information enough to fill the gaps where necessary. Mine's even shorter and describes less, so I don't have much say in the matter.
Grammar was excellent. There were a few sentence structures that I would have changed, but it hardly affected the outcome of what you wanted. And I think you wanted "morale" instead of "moral."

One thing I would suggest is placing more negative characteristics ('weaknesses') throughout the sheet. Being as bulky as he is, I would think he's not as agile. However, it can be argued that everything you described has a weakness that you purposefully ignored because of the character itself. There might be a reliance on the tech in his helmet. He has limited skills for armaments but is highly proficient in the few he uses. Someone else might believe that there are no weaknesses. But we know there are weaknesses even for those who try to live without them.
The crying bit was interesting but didn't seem to hold any significance or conseqence (which is a neutral term). It's obvious you meant for it to have some kind of significance, but you neglected to state what that was, perhaps.

Even so, very good profile. I skimmed over the tech part because that's not within my realm of understanding.
I enjoyed reading it.

I appreciate the critiques, CB. To point out a couple of your comments: yes he does have weaknesses. His bulk makes him a primarily strength effected character and his agility and such suffers because of that. Like you guessed, I did ignore his weaknesses in order to explain his strengths such as his proficiency in some arms but his lack of knowledge in others makes him dependent on only the armament given to him. While he may be a skilled combatant with a blade and fairly good with a gun he knows little else outside of those making him more of a specialist than a jack-of-all-trades. I will definitely work on making a more weaknesses for my next characters down the road. The crying moment was supposed to show the rarity of such emotions being displayed and not much else. It could have done without it but I felt like throwing it in for good measure.
