Maneuverability: This ship is, in all configurations, a very sluggish ship. It is slow to accelerate and decelerate, as well as making maneuvers. It is comparable in maneuverability to Bulk Freighters.
Description: The Peridot-Class Modular Platform lives up to it's name. It is only really a base to configure additional elements on. The ship can perform multiple roles depending on it's loadout, performing each to an acceptable degree while not performing as highly as dedicated vessels.
The entire ship is a large frame with a pylon running down the center, a bridge and crew facilities at the front, and a small engineering area in the rear. Running down each side are two support structures at an angle that are capable of rotating to point down. This offers a total of six spaces across both sides of the ship. Each space can hold 4 modular components each. They are usually kept in their groups, but can be exchanged between groups if necessary. Each space is equipped with small tractor beams, magnetic clamps, and extending support arms. These keep the modular elements in place on the ship.
One configuration is that of a bulk freighter, being able to carry 65,000 Metric Tons of cargo spread amongst the containers. Each of these containers is like a large, pressurized hold connected to the ship's life support.
Another configuration is that of a Personnel Transport. Each module is a large self contained barrack along with all the facilities needed to support a compliment of warriors. Each pod connected can support 50 warriors, with a total of 200 for a space and 1200 total.
Another Configuration is that of a Refueling Platform. The refueling pods come equipped with magnetic storage for the volatile fuel needed for starships, as well as being equipped to handle multiple fuel types for different ships.
Two closely linked configurations are the refinery configuration and the mining configuration. Each of these requires cargo modules to function. The Mining Module equips a large mining lasers and tractor beam into each module. These then rotate down to mine into the asteroid. The tractor beam pulls the ore up into the cargo modules. The refineries take ore from the cargo modules and uses the ship's reactor to refine the ore.
The last configuration is used when attacking the surface of a planet. The spaces are loaded with 4x Me'suum-Class Drop-Pods each for a total of 24x. The support structures rotate the pods down to face the planet. Each ship detaches from a small booster structure, pushed down at speed. This allows troops to land on a planet quickly during planetary domination.
Different modules can be mixed and matched on the ship with other modules.
