Death Disabled - PvE
Open to 2-3 people

Relan had been working at the hospital on Ossus when the attack had begun. First, people started trickling in with injuries, but before long, they were overflowing with patients with all sorts of wounds. They had tried to treat as many as possible, but hospitals were not designed to be strongholds, and most of the staff there had never even held a blaster before.

The security had crumpled relatively quickly when the horde of abominations swarmed the facility. They had evacuated those they could, but it had been impossible to move those most critically sick or injured. Relan had stayed behind with those patients as they hid, hoping the attack would pass or there would be some sort of reinforcement.

"This is Doctor Relan Quin." he said into the open Comm. "We are stuck in the central hospital building, C-wing - 8th level. I have several critically injured patients. We need assistance or evacuation immediately. Please respond!" he called out again on the open comm. No one had answered him the twenty other times he had called, but there was all he could do.

He had managed to grab a blaster from a fallen security guard as things fell apart.

Spurius was seemingly in the wrong place at the wrong time today. His instructors at the temple allowing him time for independent study. Feeling peckish and wandering down to a noodle bar near the hospital would be one of the larger turns of fate in this young squires life - second of course to being disowned, removed from the academy and learning how to hone his abilities.

With the abominations running rampant in the streets, his comm began coming to life and before long the cacophony of sounds and smells joined the radio chatter. But one call sent a shock of ice-cold fear down his spine as he listened in. "This is Doctor Relan Quin." -- "We are stuck in the central hospital building, C-wing - 8th level. I have several critically injured patients. We need assistance or evacuation immediately. Please respond!" with his nerves beginning to fray Spurius opened the channel and responded "This is Squire Spurius Livius Gaetulicus I am just outside - and I don't think I can make it back to the temple. I'll relay your call. But I fear I may be the only one close enough to help right now. I will be up momentarily." He nearly shouted into the comm as his voice grew panicked. Staying true to his word he began relaying the message to the temple, for whatever good it may do.

Taking a deep inhale and unholstering his blaster and saber, clicking the ignitor a purple blade would jump from the hilt as he raced from the street and into the hospitals vestibule. Things did not look good. The carnage and the smell was even worse once inside. But there were no foes to be seen as he followed signage for a staircase and began vaulting from railing to railing racing to the 8th floor. With a labored voice and stowed blaster Spurius opened his comm once again. "Doctor Relan I am on the 8th floor. I see-" and his communication dropped. Reacting quickly to an abomination that had seemingly followed him up, Spurius dropped low and spun around as a clawed hand swept over where his head had just been, and with an upward thrust he plunged the purple blade into the creatures side and dragged it upward before planting a foot on its chest and giving it a push backwards over the railing. After a few moments it would crash to the ground with a commotion. Continuing his sentence "- that we seem to have company."

Guin had found herself holed up in a peacekeeper station a few blocks from the hospital when the attack came. The terrified population around had scattered to the wind, either being chased down or somehow finding cover to avoid a grisly fate. For the Overseer this kind of terror was new, and she couldn't move a damn muscle voluntarily, even as her left hand shook with fright.

As the most senior member of the ISB present, the handful of Imperial Peacekeepers (PKs) had looked to her for guidance and orders, for which she struggled to push through the emotional toll to answer. With only a minor barricade and limited weapons for what a station might hold, all they could do was wait and hold out for reinforcements. That was, until one of the PKs announced quietly about the broadcast coming from the hospital.

A wave of silence spread throughout the floor as each man and woman realised the gravity of the situation, all looked to Guin to make the hard decision as none wished to do so themselves. Surely the army, navy or some powerful knights would arrive shortly, she hoped. They'd make it all go away with a flick of their wrist without any need to risk her own biscuit.

But from what they could tell, that was a hope and a dream. Simply waiting around wasn't going to save the people in danger and although the PKs were supposed to protect the peace and keep civilians safe, this seemed to slightly be outside their pay range.

With some reluctance, Guin sighed. "Alright, we'll form two squads of eight and make our way to the hospital. Lt, you have point. Let's gear up and be ready to leave in two." Given that they already had spread out the armor and weapons amongst themselves, it would come more down to sorting themselves into a group and coming up with a basic tactical plan.

Of course, no plan ever survived contact with the enemy.

Clutching a small blaster rifle and pistol on her hip, Guin hoped that the monsters had all gone by now.

The comms were not clear in the building; the invasion must have damaged some of the signal relays. "Thats a hell of a name..." he said sarcastically without pushing the button to transmit. Regardless, he wasn't about to turn down any help.

Hopefully, this squire would have some reinforcements, maybe a couple of ships that they could evacuate. He assumed he didn't after the boy had said he was coming up the stairs.

As the small abomination fell down the flight of stairs, Spurius would hear a loud bellow for the ground level below. They had attracted something bigger than the baby abomination he had dispatched.

The creature began to thunder up the stairs, claws digging into walls as it leapt and bounded up. "We are at the far end of the hallway in the ICU." The creature was hot on the squire's tail.

As the man walked in front of the door where Relan and his patients were hiding, He would open the door and pull the squire in, holding a finger to his mouth with a silent "Shh". As the door closed, the creature rounded the corner, looking up and down the hallway for any sight of the Imperial Knight. The creature howled as it began to sniff the air, in search of its prey. This monstrosity was huge, its long claws clicking on the floor as it prowled.

Maybe it would just move along like some of the others had.

One abomination down, hopefully none more today... Hearing the Doctor relay their exact location Spurius started down the hall towards him, only to hear the sound of an even larger creature. Something that sounded so foul and dangerous the young squire froze. Legs locking in place saber at his side going stiff with every step he took towards the Doctor. No matter how hard he tried, fear had slowly taken over and it got even worse as the creature began clawing, leaping and bounding up.

This would be it, a simple trip for lunch would be his demise. But then, to his surprise he found himself being pulled backwards into a room, this was enough to snap him out of his fear induced shock - shutting down the saber with the purple blade retracting back into the hilt as the door shut behind him and the creature moved past.

He would continue to hold his breath until the creature was seemingly far enough out of ear shot that inhalation would not give him away. He wasn't sure how well the things could hear, and he did not want to find out. With a deep inhale and slow exhale, Spurius mouthed a silent
"Thank you" to the doctor before pausing for another moment to listen - it seemed as if the creature was still heading away. The click clack of its claws growing quieter and quieter for the time.

Giving Spurius the confidence to whisper to the Doctor.
"Well, it looks like I need to get you all out of here." He said with a pause before looking over the group. There are more patients than he thought, not good. "Are there any other police, security, military personnel... anyone? Who responded to your call?" He was praying the answer would be yes, for he did not know if he could defeat the monstrosity he had yet to see on his own. @Raydo @Xorism

The streets between the precinct and hospital were nightmare fuel, eerie silence only broken by distant screams and crashing noises. Bodies lay broken and torn so very badly it would be impossible to tell where one started and ended, stirring a painfully tense feeling of dread up one's spine.

Without any visble or audio cues to discern of danger, Guin felt slightly encouraged that perhaps the danger had passed. Slowly moving, she motioned for one of the soldiers to tap on her comlink hoping to reach any others inside the large hospital complex. It would be far too difficult to search floor by floor, not only due to how long that would take but for practical purposes also.

"Doctor Relan Quin, are you still in need of assistance? There is a group of peacekeepers on the ground floor requesting directions to your location, over." The corporal radioed through, awaiting a response. In the meantime, they spread out to find cover in case anything happened to come along their position.

Relan nodded to the newcomer as he thanked him. He was hoping for a bit more than one person. He knew the armor and lightsaber marked him as an Imperial Knight, but he looked barely out of his teens, if that. Regardless, it was more than they had before so he was thankful.

"It's a hospital.." he whispered back. "There were a lot of patients here." he continued. Looking over the scattering of severely injured or sick patients. "I was hoping to attract one of the passing ships. I believe the roof is going to be our best bet out here but...." he said.

Just then, his comm clicked, and a woman's voice came over. It was painfully loud as he tried to turn it down quickly. The beast certainly had heard the noise, and the sound of distant footsteps started to grow louder again as it returned. He held the comm to his mouth and whispered a reply. "We certainly need assistance. We are on the 8th floor - C-Wing. Come up the stairs and follow the directions to the ICU wing. Be careful, this place was swarming with monsters earlier" he said, steps growing louder. "One of the big creatures is just outside. Please hurry." he said, turning down his comm all the way. He hoped the peacekeepers had heard the message but didn't want to risk making any more noise.

The creature neared the door, and he shot the Imperial Knight a look. They couldn't let that thing near the patients, but this one was not like the smaller ones the squire had dispatched earlier. He slid the blaster from the holster at his hip as he looked at the squire.

Should they fight, hopefully taking the creature by surprise, or hide and wait for the peacekeepers to engage?

The tense look of concern shot across the large group, waiting for confirmation that their mission was a go. If they were being honest, the prospect of ranging into an unknown place with who knows what going on in the background was a large concern. But their professionalism and training kicking in, that and their desire not to disobey a direct order from a superior meant that they'd continue along.

Whether by divine intervention or just pure luck, they'd find little resistance in their path up from the ground floor. Whether that was because the monsters hadn't yet figured out the stairs or were too busy in another wing, they weren't too sure. But in either case, the party arrived at the 8th floor without any drama slowing them down.

Coming onto the scene guns drawn, the peacekeepers wasted no time in the search for the hidden survivors. Crossing into a corridor, they spotted a monster bent over, devouring the remains of some unlucky orderly. It had, by the looks of things, gotten distracted by something else and avoided breaching the door to where the survivors laid quiet.

Thinking quickly, one of the more experienced peacekeepers pulled out a chemical flare and ignited it, throwing it down the hall towards the beast. A combination of the insanely bright light and loud sound, mixed with the pouring smoke, startled the beast, causing it to temporarily retreat.

Using the distraction to their benefit, Guin tapped on the door quietly. "Doctor Relan Quin, are you quite alright?" She asked cautiously, hoping they hadn't been too late.

The Imperial Knight seemed to hesitate, the Doctor waiting for the opportunity to strike, but it came and went. He had fired a blaster, but he certainly wasn't a soldier. He couldn't fault the kid; this could have very well been his first assignment. Imagine the luck...

The creature sniffed the air outside the door, large claws clicking against the floor. Relan was scared, perhaps more scared than he had ever been in his life. He had seen that thing out in the hallway; if it decided to come in, the door wouldn't stop it for a second.

He closed his eyes, waiting for the inevitable, but it never came. He instead heard something come from further door the hallway. The creature screamed, causing Relan to almost jump out of his skin as it ran off in the direction of the flare.

Next, he heard a muffled voice on the other side of the door. He let out a relieved breath he had held for far too long and opened the door. "Your timing is perfect, thank you." he said with a tip of his head. "We make it out of here, and I owe you all several drinks..." he added. "Oh, this is Sp..Spironeousss?" he said, trying to introduce the Imperial Knight Squire but butchering the man's name.

"I have quite a few patients that won't make it down the stairs. We will either need to get the lifts on or receive some sort of ariel evacuation." he gave his assessment.

"What's the plan?" he said, turning to the woman who seemingly was in charge.

Guin quickly spotted the mixed group that had been huddling inside the crowded room awaiting rescue. The person she had seemingly been speaking too was before her, looking rather worse for wear, and a rather young lad with the appearance of a squire.

Fortunately, Dr Quin didn't muck about and instead insisted on a plan of action being put into place asap. Considering the monster that they had seen outside, she could hardly blame him. The conundrum posed by their inability to throw everyone down the way they had come was a prickly situation, but not one without answers. They had brought limited gear that could be useful in this case, but the most important tool that the hospital lacked would be their military radios.

Given that they were the floor below the roof, the easiest option would be an air-evac. This also played into the problem that it would take an unknown amount of time to fix the lifts and, worse, they couldn't guarantee that the ground level was safe for such a large and immobile group. At least with the roof, they could barricade themselves up there and withdraw people as quickly as possible.

Nodding, with a plan forming in her mind, Guin began barking orders to the individual units under her command. The first squad would secure the corridor to the roof lift, while the second squad would assist the doctor in moving the patients. Those who could move on their own, would, and those who couldn't would be helped or carried. Those requiring machines would have any mobile units brought with them, and the most critical would be shifted last.

"Let me know when you're ready, and we'll start." She assured the Doctor that this was the right move. Before long, squad one had passed along the message that the upper floor lift had been restored and operational. Furthermore, their rides home were being prepared to land once all the patients were on the roof, as to avoid stirring any unwanted trouble too early...

What had he done. Freezing in a time of need, others unable to defend themselves relying on you. This was not something Spurius would soon forget.

Snapping out of his fear locked experience, Spurius listened to the voice on the other side of the door. Help was here, hopefully some other folks more well equipped than the lone squire who went for a meal and ended up bungling a rescue attempt.

Sensing this was not the time for long winded introductions Spurius simply nodded at the woman and offered his information
"Spurius Livius Gaetulicus - Imperial Knight Squire." he blinked back the gravity of their situation before continuing, wiping the cold sweat from his brow "I am at your disposal."

His introduction would be cut short as the cacophony of orbital guns, cannons, and other munitions began to impact the ground within relative proximity of their position. This was unknowingly to be the greatest thing to happen to him in this moment. The sacrifice being made to save the city and likely the planet would not go unnoticed.

Racing to the nearest window, Spurius would drink in the display of force. As round after massive round would impact the area just beyond the old temple. It was clear the imperial navy had found some priority target. It also became apparent that these abominations did not like whatever was happening. As on the ground below, any present could witness the seemingly organized and vicious hunting force that had befallen the planet - begin to scatter and retreat in every direction. Seemingly losing all sense of cohesion.

Shouting back to the doctor and the officer present, as to be heard over the fire
"They're breaking off their attack - they're running. I don't know why but they're running!" Spurius rejoiced, stopping in the hallway and turning his head in the direction the abomination had retreated. Preparing himself if it would make an exit in their direction. Feeling bolstered by the security forces around him, Spurius would ignite his purple blade, with hilt in hand pointed toward where he assumed a foe would appear from. "Ready to head up for extraction?"@Xorism @Raydo
