DESCRIPTION​

The Owool-class heavy interceptor is a Wookiee-designed starfighter manufactured by KashyCorp for the exclusive use of the Kashyyyk Defense Militia, the Wookiee home-world's defense force. Developed during the darkest days of the First Order-Resistance War, the Owool was intended to shield Kashyyyk against the worst the First Order had to offer, and had opportunity to prove itself many times over before the conflict's end. Even in the present day it remains a force to be reckoned with, continuing as the standard KDM starfighter.

The Owool is a powerful machine, manufactured to a high standard of fit and finish, not to mention durability. It is well armed with a quartet of medium laser cannons, plus a pair of medium ion cannons for disabling enemy craft. Defense is provided by a medium deflector screen, as well as a well made alusteel hull that can take a few hits itself. The ship is flown by a single pilot, and has a top speed of 90 MGLT, slightly slower than average but still quite acceptable given its size and power. Notably, the ship has a class 4 hyperdrive, allowing it to function as an escort craft if need be. Maneuverability is also decent.

The Owool was designed and built exclusively for use by the Wookiees of Kashyyyk and its colonies, and is not offered for export. Some examples have been gifted to trusted outsiders or stolen by slavers and pirates over the years, but in general the type is not seen outside Wookiee space except on special business.

LEGALITY​

Restricted. Owools are starfighters, and are subject to extra licensing requirements and increased scrutiny by authorities.

RESTRICTIONS​

Owool-class heavy interceptors are generally not available to non-Wookiee characters. Non-Wookiees who wish to own such a vessel must present a plausible in-character reason to have acquired one, to be vetted by a member or members of staff.
