_THE SOV GALACTIC EVOLUTION_
_____

general personnel barracks 10:15AM

__Men and women walked the main steel corridor. Some from breakfast. Others to training. Whether they worked here, maintaining this behemoth, or they were guests of its welcoming halls, taking shelter for a time, they moved with brisk and vivacity. Often in pairs they went, hands rolling in direction to relay a point in conversation; toiling the soil of life and its rough patches and trivialities, infinitesimal in the grand purpose this ship represented. Filling out this paperwork has caused her a headache. Or getting this plan a proper presentation to be implemented has strained friendly relations for him. And above it all weighs the threat of the Imperium somewhere off in the distance beyond all those stars.

But tucked away in a forked hallway to the catacomb dorms' entryway to non-vip personnel, sitting on a black cushioned twin bench underneath a small viewport portal in plain sight, lazed one invisibly lonesome Cappi Tremaine.

Black sweatshirt hood over bunned head, his glazed eyes drifted from star to star; waiting for one to inevitably fall but never did. Elbow propped onto the chromed impression around the circular portal, his finger gently and obsessively traced over the recently unwrapped month old scar over his left temple; fuzzy and protruding. Occasionally his brow twitched frustratedly when he realized he'd lost his train of thought again and couldn't remember how long it'd been since he'd lost it. It still felt a little sore. And in those moments he'd catch his reflection and see the bags under his deprived eyes, sleepless nights still a lingering symptom of head trauma, and he'd sigh.

White earbuds playing the tragic melody of nature's beauty, slowly drawn wind instruments flowing through birds' flitting chirps and a horse's warm nickering, as Cappi stared into the vacuum of space was a jocular suggestion taken from one of his physical therapists; a suggestion he had come to loath yet continued to ritually revisit in his solidarity. Usually it embraced his thoughts swarming around the memory of Knight Anrdreas. A bitter taste coming from its mention, yet somehow desired again and again in its wonder. Cappi questioned what had become of him and why Cappi'd been spared by a Sith, his sabers even kept in perfect condition in travel with him; returned from the field by his side.

His time back home with Pops and Zia on Nar Shaddaa hadn't granted him any peace of mind. Yet now that he was here, back with his brethren, he was even less motivated to rejoin their activities; the daily routine of rehabilitation and its many checklists aside. He often felt like a droid, noting his similarly slouched and bony posture next to a protocol assistant in the medical offices during his check-ups. Between bacta naps, healing circles, removing and replacing stitching he was losing touch with the everyday challenges that made life enjoyable. Just getting up on his feet every morning was a fight.

Events had left him with so much to question. Yet even in this difficulty he felt more a part of this family then ever before. Pops and Zia somehow felt farther away. He wasn't as angry as when he learned Mancer was murdered after he'd caused those hostages' deaths. This was where he belonged. These were the people of hope for the galaxy. Just not for his personal peace. At least not yet.

There was so much he had to think about. He owed his life in part to Andreas, who taught him in an instant that not killing for the sake of not killing was un-Jedi like in itself despite what he thought he knew. At least it was incorrect to pose moral questions so absolutely. Just as it was to judge the Sith so starkly. Just as it is to judge himself.

But where did that leave him?

Jaleer had been called by the Jedi therapist on the Galactic Evolution it would seem a friend of his needed some help being a trained Jedi healer was going to play a important role since it would seem Cappi has gotten himself into trouble again, letting out a sigh the sage only hoped his friend wasn't in that bad of a condition but considered what had happened before Jaleer wasn't sure if Cappi was once again in a depressive state. With his Jedi robes the sage carried his cloak his hood put down, Cappi might not recognize the taller and bigger Jaleer he had even grown a small stubble, a shadow on his face as if the war had made him much older than he actually was.

Jaleer kept his lightsaber on his side with him, but it felt like time the sage made one of his own now that he was a knight no longer that small padawan that was easy going and had such troubles around people especially girls he liked. Something Cappi actually helped him with looking around the sage followed the familiar presence of his friend, Jaleer was happy to see Cappi though it wasn't a social visit the young man still smiled keeping his easy going smile though the young Jedi didn't feel as at ease as before.

Eventually finding the older Jedi staring at the stars the sage walked quietly almost like a ghost to the man an when Jaleer was next to cappi he would tap the man on the shoulder to get his attention. Cappi would see a older Jaleer with a big smile but the sage's eyes showing concern and worry for his friend, though the sage was glad to see that Cappi wasn't stuck on a bed but it was clear to the sage that Cappi was hurt.

"Hey long time no see mister knight." Jaleer said smiling at his friend.

Reland had only recently got back to the Galactic Evolution. He had spent the morning catching up on reports and various request that required his attention. Between the Admiral, and his assistant they had kept everything running nicely. He then came across a report about a Jedi Knight that had recently promoted. Cappi Tremaine had been one of the Jedi they had sent to defend Lamaredd. His report said he was captured by the Sith and then released without question. Reland found that somewhat troubling. He was glad they had released the young man, but why. Cappi had requested some time away from the Order to spend time with family. He had apparently been pretty injured in the fight, but now he was back. He could have looked at the notes in his files to get an indication on how he was doing, but wanted to see the young man for himself. Reland knew the risk of sending people into combat. Checking in personally was one way he had decided at the beginning of this thing of how he would show appreciation.

He pulled up what room they had him in currently and left his office at once. He walked throughout the upper deck of the shift that housed many of the ships officers and command staff until finally taking a turbo lift down to the deck that Cappi had been staying in.

He nodded and smiled to many Jedi as he walked through the halls, but in the back of mind he still wrestled with this puzzle of why they had let him live. After checking in with one of the doctors and asking if it was alright to visit the Jedi Knight he walked up to the open door way. He knocked and poked his head in. "Well, hello there." he said to both of the newly knighted Jedi in the room. "I hope I am not interrupting anything? Mind if I come in for a moment?" he asked looking at Cappi.

A familiar shade colored the back of his mind, eyes tracing its fickle escape deeper into hazy memories until he felt someone's presence just behind him. And he remained coldly inanimate to Jaleer's touch upon his shoulder. At first seemingly ignoring of Jaleer, Cappi slowly turned his head back and up; vacant expression hung upon his face. Cappi's brown eyes, thin film washed over their surface, searched Jaleer's features for a moment; uncertain. Then a flicker in his soul. And his face softened. Spread. Smiled even.

And he turned around.

"Jaleer," he slurred slowly, shaggy beard pulling apart over pearly teeth as his hand plucked his earbuds loose rising to a stand to hug his friend. But he didn't hug him, the physical act too foreign a notion to embrace.

Without fail, whenever Cappi was depressed, Jaleer was always there. So dependable was he in such times that Cappi oftentimes wondered if Jaleer even knew who Cappi used to be, that fun-loving skirt chasing frat boy. Well, he'd had glimpses. But again, Cappi needed his boon of hope and positivity. And here he was. A Knight even.

Cappi's hand hovered, lingering in the air over Jaleer's shoulder until it finally forced itself to fall and plant itself firmly on his shoulder, squeeze a desperately reserved expression of their bond, and patted twice.

Then Cappi felt dizzy from standing up too fast. A moment of temporary vertigo depicted in his drained face. Just a moment. It passed. And a sad smile took its place.

Cappi inhaled dramatically, lips parting to say what they could not as a tragic battle took place on the surface of his face that ended in silence; mouth resigning to press together a different smile altogether of a different kind of gratitude and a nodding head. A whole conversation speaking from silence. It was all the same. Jaleer had heard it all before. And a tear welled up in Cappi's right eye, but refused to fall. Finally exhaling, Cappi incidentally broke into a weak laughter, beyond even Cappi's understanding, until it subsided.

Suddenly another presence peeked in with a knock that drew Cappi's sobered attention, and his hand ashamedly withdrew from Jaleer's shoulder for whatever reason.

"Not at all," he answered to the newcomer with his gravelly baritone, a welcoming hand extending open while the other respectfully removed his hood. Cappi recognized the man's face somehow, but couldn't place it. "Please. You're most welcome," he added almost lonely like. "Jaleer was just about to make me some tea." A thin quirky smirk turned to Jaleer slyly before Cappi's normalized expression returned to their guest. "Would you like some?"

Jaleer would remember Cappi's home and its affiliation to herbs and how much tea they had during his stay. Putting the role of host on him was just a playful way of showing his appreciation.

Jaleer watched as Cappi slowly returned from his daydream and come back to the land of the living, the young man's smiled got bigger once he saw Cappi was smiling helping the young man feel better about Cappi's condition. Upon hearing his own name the sage let out a sigh of relief glad to see that Cappi wasn't so injured to not know his own friend, though the sage saw how stressed Cappi was trying to just place his hand on Jaleer's shoulder giving the man the time he needed. The young man notice how Cappi tried to speak with him yet seemed to fail but the Jaleer just smiled nodding in return to Cappi as if he knew what the man was trying to say without saying it.

Figuring he should say something the sage began to open his mouth when a powerful presence with the lightside came in turning around and seeing one of the Jedi masters on the council, seeing that Cappi wasn't quiet recognizing the person Jaleer was about to say the man's name so Cappi didn't seem like a fool. But Cappi seemed it was best to play a prank on him looking at Cappi with a mix of irritated and a 'really' looking Jaleer knew that Cappi was just being himself so the sage didn't take it seriously but now that a member of the Jedi council is thinking that he was going to have to make some tea. Though Jaleer couldn't imagine how the heck he was suppose to make tea without any ingredients so this would be a bit awkward.

"He is kidding sir unless of course you want tea sir I can go make some." Jaleer offered wishing to elbow Cappi in the side but would have to do that later when Cappi was feeling better.

"Tea sounds excellent" spoke a younger, way much cheerier voice directly from behind the Jedi Master.

The first thing the people inside would be able to see were long curvy hazelnut brown hair, directly followed by a complete Dawn, this time dressed in some quite unusal clothes: A snow white Jedi Padawan robe and a merry smile on her face. "Hey there" she greeted with a wave of her hand.

Reland smiled as he began to enter the room, only noticing Dawn when she spoke up. He nodded in greeting as he slid to the side and motioned for her to enter in front of him. He stepped into the room behind her.

Reland had wanted to speak of the encounter with the Sith on Lamaredd, but for now he just smiled and accepted the offer of tea. "Tea would be wonderful." He said nodding to Jaleer out of appreciation.

With that settled he turned his attention back to Cappi. "I trust you have everything you need?"He asked the Jedi Knight. Reland had made sure to have the young man checked up on regularly by the medical staff and knew they would provide the best possible care.

Cappi frowned his confusion at the way Jaleer tended to the man with flattering propriety, as though he were royalty. Then, hearing a girlish voice accept the offer, Cappi couldn't help but choke on a sinister grin angled right at Jaleer. Perfection!

But a seriousness darkened his features then, as he recognized the voice and looked to see who she was. Seeing curvy hazelnut locks first, he couldn't place them. He leaned left to see around Reland before he slid himself aside. Then there she was. Her white robes called his attention, eyes trailing down her form and back up to her absolutely beautiful face. And that voice, sunrise rays of light gifted sound.

He gulped. Then his left eye scrunched tight with pain, the mental synapses misfiring dead branches of damaged nerve endings. But the lapse in memory didn't keep him from speaking without hesitation, like before.

"Good morning sunshine," he greeted softly, smoothly and intimately, as though they were the only two in the room; unabashedly romantic in nature, a pleasantly gentil smile washing over his face.

Those were the same words he'd first said to her at that barbecue.

He couldn't remember everything that'd happened between them. But he remembered how she made him feel. But then he remembered that they weren't alone, and blinked a flutter. The man had said something. Oh, right. It came to Cappi eventually, working through the blank stare on his face to the center of his brow. He'd accepted the satirical offer for tea too. Cappi looked at Jaleer again, kind of shrugging as though he couldn't help him now. He'd have to scrounge something up somehow. Cappi's potted plants were all around them, many bearing leaves precisely for brewing. And there were cups in one of the cabinets ...probably, in the kitchonette. As for hot water and other ingredients, well, maybe the nearby cafeteria had some stuff he could use? Cappi rather enjoyed the fact that Jaleer would have a hard time working this one out on his own. It was a sign of endearment. But the man before them clearly held some position of importance, based off of his next question, and Cappi just couldn't place it.

"Uh, yeah. Holonet. Hand soap. T.P. I'm good."

He paused, having successfully relayed his almost biting sarcasm with lewd innuendo as though Reland was the weird one for asking such a question. Then the rodent, the spirit of remembrance, nibbled on the little strand of memory; creeping up on that corner of dried meat. Cappi's eyes opened a little wider, not quite there but getting closer. He looked to Jaleer. Paused. He looked to Dawn. Paused. Holy Hutt-crack. Cappi's face lit up.

"Oh. Oh. ... Oh! Master. Hello! Yes. I, uh, yes. Thank you. For everything. Really."

Cappi walked over to Reland, now realizing he was one of the current Jedi leadership heads, and imposed a genuine hand shake on the Jedi Master; cupping both hands around Reland's and vigorously shaking to apologize for his gaff.

Jaleer couldn't believe his luck though he was happy enough to make tea for everyone if it wasn't for the fact he didn't have anything with him to actually make tea with, but it would be hard since he didn't really have tea on his person, which meant he would have to leave Cappi for a time but the sage didn't wish for that. Seeing Dawn behind Master Reland the sage was surprised to see her, though thinking about it Jaleer realized that maybe Dawn had grown attached to the flirty and silly older Jedi but the sage didn't spend to much time on that thought.

"Of course master excuse me while I get us some tea." Jaleer said giving a bow to Master Reland before turning back to Cappi a sly smile on his face as he realized that Cappi forgot who Master Reland was and the thought made the sage wish he could laugh at the moment but he did his best to hide that fact.

"An Cappi please try to rest I know you still need time to heal." Jaleer said this for several reasons one so Cappi had a excuse for not realizing who Reland was, hopefully the master wouldn't get too mad at Cappi.

An since the sage remembered some of what happened between Dawn and Cappi, Jaleer knew he did a lot of movement to impress her but right now the injured knight needed to rest. Yet remembering the tea the sage began walking out of the room placing a hand on Dawn before he left being taller now since the last time he saw her the sage remembered how troublesome he was when he was younger. Hoping to reassure the young Jedi padawan the sage spoke softly and with care.

"He will be fine nothing a good old healing session couldn't fix, but take it easy on him the fool isn't quiet at full strength yet." Jaleer told Dawn hoping that he words would help relieve her of any ill feelings she has about Cappi's condition, and would appreciate the joking manner he used.

The sage would walk out of the room and towards the storage room grabbing what he needed to make the tea than heading to the kitchen as quickly as possible using the force to augment his speed, once there he began to make the tea with care. Being sure not to rush or he might make a mistake and ruin the tea, which wouldn't look good and especially when he was making tea for a member of the Jedi council Jaleer wanted to make a good impression though, the sages hands were a bit shaky because of his own worries for Cappi but the young Jedi held it in and pressed on with making the tea.

It was strange to see her friend with benefit acting so strange in comparison to his older self... Until he greeted her in a manner that was way more his natural self. Nodding to the explanation of Jaleer, she answered with a cheery smile and a understanding nod, but as soon as Jaleer was gone, she approached Cappi slowly and spoke woth thd same voice reserved exclusively for baby's, kittens and seriously hurt boyfriends "I heard my favourite toy have been damaged and am here to ensure he feels better so I can.. Play with it again soon" and as she arrive at arms length she gently grabbed his collar and rose on her toes so she could drag him to her and give him a soft, intimate kiss. She had jet to encounter anyone not remembering these.

Reland coughed awkwardly.

“Well then, I just stopped into to see how you were doing, but from the looks of it you are in good hands.” He said standing and straightening his robe. “If you need to anything don't hesitate to ask.” He said turning to leave. Just before he exited the door, he turned to face the pair once more. “Cappi, we are glad to have you home.” He said smiling towards Dawn and nodding his head “It was good to see you as well, Padawan Whisperwind.”

Reland had come to speak to boy about his experience, but his mind was only just beginning to recover. There would be time for talking later. The Jedi Master didn't want to hinder his recovery by bringing up anything traumatic too soon.
