Perlemian Trade Group, or “The Trade Group” began as a shell company for a group of mercenaries working out of the mercantile planet of Tirahnn millenia before the battle of yavin or exagol. They originally started by mandalorians in hiding and has since been influenced by the needs of their members over the millenia. Influences from estranged mandalorians can still be seen in some of their uniforms though many believe this is due to the surplus of Clone Wars era hardware they collected during the old conflict between the former Republic and the Separatists.
Tirahnn has long been ruled by a mercantile oligarchy and each of the Merchant Princes (or Princesses) of Tirahnn usually field their own army of bodyguards and thugs. They often could appear refined and classy with suits and dresses but they were just as dangerous as any outer rim fighter. Without a single unified military the P.T.G. grew in popularity as a reliable and incorruptible service.
These days the P.T.G. act primarily as highly paid security for legitimate businesses up and down the Perlemian Trade Route. They specialize in policing and law enforcement with many of their members possessing Bounty Hunting licenses. However all members are required to prioritize P.T.G. company rules and policies. Loyalty to the Trade Group is loyalty to the Route's future and every member of the P.T.G. resists any attempt for corruption.
The Trade Group’s standards have prevented them from making connections with criminal elements and limited their growth throughout history. This has not stopped beings like Hutts or Sith from manipulating things from behind the scenes, using proxies and political puppets to have the Trade Group defending or abandoning some jobs. These cannot be proven but the Perlemian Trade Group does their best to prevent such manipulations and at the very least be compensated for it if unavoidable.
Many years have passed with military strength coming and going for numerous planets. But corporations have long since been regulated at a different rate than planetary governments. This has allowed P.T.G. to slowly expand throughout all of the Perlemian Trade Route and maintain a small fleet of ships that would rival some individual defensive fleets. However these are spread out to defend key clients and assets. In recent times with more hyperlanes devoling into chaos there have been an uptick in pirate attacks. The demand for secure travel has spiked. Now more than ever, non-merchants have been seeking aid from the Trade Group. With a large span of the galaxy to protect the elite units of the Trade Group are never short on work.
Intent
I think this is personal lore. I wanted to build more on Tirahnn space and its history. I’m going to explore more of this with my character Siria Zale. These are supposed to be some of the better warriors for hire that won't turn around and shoot you as soon as your foe offers them a higher price. Basically they'll just be some NPCs that will act as Siria's future Planetary Defense Force if she can swing it.
