DESCRIPTION
The Pilum-class Heavy Cruiser was part of the second wave of purpose built warships designed within The Citadel on Exegol to bolster and increase the power of the growing Sith Imperial Fleet. With a frontline force of powerful warships such as the Resurgent, Pugio, Gladiator and Victory, the back end of the field was looked at during the design phase. Looking for a different form of long range support than the Onager's Kyber Crystal empowered Turbolasers, the team settled on a Missile focused ship.
Retaining the powerful Dagger shape of similar craft of its size, the Pilum centres most of its firepower and use around the circular firing apparatus for its multitude of missile technology. It is here that you can find all of the ships launch tubes as well as its main CIC and combat readiness rooms. The bridge structure taking on more of a communal and living area function unlike other Imperial ships.
Designed to never be alone the ship has limited close quarters armaments and the vast power reserves needed for the Proton Torpedo tubes forcing the design team to limit the scale and power of its Turbolaser armaments. A small fighter compliment helps support the ships hole within the battle line and helps keep smaller ships such as Corvette's and Frigates at bay.
LEGALITY
Restricted. Pilum-class Heavy Cruisers are classified as capital ships under Galactic law, and possess heavy weapons, making them difficult or impossible for civilians and even small factions to own. To date, however, this has been a non-issue, as they are for use by the Sith Order.INTENT
To expand the Sith Fleet's variety of ships and help move away from outdated hand me downs from the movie era.RESTRICTIONS
Pilum-class Heavy Cruiser are large capital ships with heavy weapons, and capital ships cannot be owned or operated by individual characters. They are exclusive to the Sith Order faction.
