A few other members and myself have come together and decided to put on a Pokemon Diverse thread. The idea draw from a previous Pokemon Diverse titled "Expedition to Rahlto". The premise being a band of assorted people (trainers, researchers, gym leaders, various other Pokepeoples) have set off on an incursion to a landmass in the Pokemon world that little is known about named Rahlto.

In terms of world we use a mix of game, anime, and manga lore to fit our needs. The world and lore is similar to the games, but we use the anime's sizing of Pokemon and take on legendaries not being one off. For tone we turn to the manga which at times is a bit more violent and mature, but not in a dark and gritty fashion.

For Pokemon usage the cap is at three Pokemon of an understandably catchable nature. While we don't observe hard "level" rules we ask that the Pokemon be of a lower level or at least have one member of your party evolved at the 20-30 range. As for moves don't worry about picking and choosing. Moves like scratch, peck, and tackle will be naturally known and per other moves as long as you stick within the realm of reason there will be no cap of four moves.

As to not slow down this RP the Pokemon catching will unfortunately be brought down to a minimum. Not to say that it is completely out of the question, it will just have to be determined on a case by case basis of if the other members want to wait for you to catch something, what you are seeking, and how the story is progressing.

As for your character should you join we welcome almost any builds from a fresh young trainer to an elderly professor. Just know that Rahlto doesn't have a gym or league set-up so badge getting is also not going to be a huge part of this RP.

History:

Glenn Carlisle is your average trainer with no ambition towards a pokemon league. He battled for fun during school, as it was a way to spend time and let his pokemon have fun. Now he is on one last adventure before he decides to settle down, get a job, and leave challenging the pokemon league to 11 year old kids whose parents clearly don't want them in the house. Besides, have you ever lost to an 11 year old? It's all "OHHHH you got OWNED! Like, I totally wrecked you. That's gotta hurt!" and they go on like that for several minutes. When an expedition to Rahlto was advertised, Glenn signed up almost immediately. Exploring a largely unknown land sounded like a blast, and he knew he would regret not going.

When he told his family he would be going, they immediately pulled out all the stops and funded an entire expedition. Glenn had enough money to pay his own way to Rahlto, and didn't mind roughing it (his uncle was a Pokemon Ranger back in the day), but his family had to give him a security net as always. This is a fact that Glenn has not advertised to anyone else on the expedition, going so far as to only use his first name. He vehemently fears ending up like the super-wealthy kids who made fun of him for not owning his own yacht when he was 16. Especially not like that rich boy Winston who talked about his linoone in a highly effectual and carefully enunciated manner.

History: David Haverson has been a member of the Pokemon Rangers for 5 years in various places throughout the world. He began his career as a assistant the ranger activities in the Veridian Forest by hunting poachers. With his two partners, Huntress the Pidgetto and Howler the Growlithe, they have safeguarded wild pokemon from poachers and those who neglect their pokemon. When the Ranger Corp opened up a slot for a liaison to join the trip into the new region, David signed up immediately. This would be his first solo assignment and he has been tasked to identify key features of this new terrain.

History: Cyril served as an assistant to the local professor during high school. He has decided to leave his hometown and began researching Pokémon on his own. Having never traveled too far from home he is nervous striking out on his own. He was given a Charmander as his first Pokémon on the day he left home. Soon after he managed to capture a sickly Caterpie and befriend a Cubone. He now has received an invitation to travel to the region known as Rahlto. Little is known about this region and Cyril is excited to be one of the first researchers to explore the area.

History: Valena family were once very rich and very powerful, the Rainier's making their fortune from the creation of pokeballs and in mining the material for them. However, their balls were often expensive, overly designed, and failed to keep up with more innovative designs, leading to them falling behind Silph, and selling off what they could to other companies just to pay off their debts. Her family lived in Icirrus City, in Unova, and would often lament their fallen fortune to their young daughter, the weight of the pass heavy on her mind all through growing up.

With stories of lost prestige and wealth, Valena decided to make a change by going out and making a name for the Rainier family, taking her Snorunt Weiss and setting out to become a trainer. Valena was a person who got into training pokemon not by choice buy as a means of making money. She strived to earn money through beauty contests and pokemon battles alike, and would often put on a strong and sometimes offputting facade to push herself and her pokemon forward, though secretly missed her family and home greatly, as well as the simple life she had before. She found moderate success, and after Weiss evolved into a Forslass, Valena found herself entering more and more pokemon battles, sending each amount of money she made back home.

It was barely anything, but it helped; Valena however always felt she could do more, and was not doing enough to help. When she was approached by some people to help them find and capture some rarer pokemon however, she couldn't refuse this chance, especially with the money at stake. Valena enjoyed the thrill of seeing new places and facing new pokemon, honing her skills and adding two more pokemon to her repertoire, A Clauncher named Turkis and a Tropius named Grune. Valena improved her own skills and her pokemons on the fly, managing to do well hiding under the radar and making a lot of money with her work. She rarely thought about the consequences or who she might be working with by going after rare and sometimes protected pokemon, not until it was too late. Her first close call with the pokemon rangers nearly ended with her losing her life to a cliff, and began to make her question what it was she was doing. She resolved to retire from Pokemon Poaching, planning to live with her family and return to pokemon training when she found out another group her and her family had run afoul of, Team Plasma.

The Rainier's had used their newfound money to try and get back into the pokeball business, designing a pokeball that helped damage pokemon it was used against, and paralyze them for easier capture. The pokemon extremist group acted swiftly at this news, and her family and old home were left destroyed, leaving Valena broken on the inside. She had worked as a two bit pokemon battler ever since, lost in a haze of regret. Until recently that is, when she was approached by a pokemon professor with an offer to explore a previously unknown and rarely explored area and to catalog any pokemon she might come across. Hesitant at first, she came to trust the pokemon professor that he meant no harm and the work was legal, seeing it as a chance to atone for some of her mistakes. Taking it as a last job of sorts, she now sets off to explore this unmapped region, and perhaps to be the first to capture and record never before seen pokemon.

History: Doe is certainly what one might call a hard-luck child. Born in the Hoen region, she grew up in Slateport City with her parents. However, fate had decided not to be kind with the Janeway family. One night, when Doe was but twelve years old, the Janeway house was engulfed in a massive inferno. Doe was fortunate enough to escape by jumping out through her bedroom window, but her parents weren't so fortunate however, and perished as the Janeway residence burned down to the ground. Doe was homeless and orphaned.

But Doe wasn't the kind of girl to break down and be at the pity of others. Especially not when she had caught a glimpse of the criminals responsible for the death of her parents running away from the scene of the crime on that fateful night. Team Magma. So, with her only Pokemon at the time, a Cubone named Cap that her father had rescued from an abusive breeder, Doe set out into the world on her own.

Her quest for justice and vengeance didn't last very long, however. The fires of vengeance was snuffed out by the plight of the Pokemon in Hoen. There were pokemon whom were abused and treated poorly wherever she went, many whom were orphaned by the actions of the Teams Aqua, Magma, and Rocket, and many whom were simply abandoned by their trainers and partners. Having herself been in such a situation, Doe decided to change the sad fate of these unwanted and abused Pokemon. She took them under her wing, doing what she could for them, and training with them. She couldn't keep them all, but she did her very best to give them the strength and confidence they would need to fend for themselves.

But there was one type of Pokemon her heart especially went out to: The Dark Type. Universally shunned and believed to be wicked and untrustworthy, and used and abused only by those whom cared only for raw strength, and then abandoned when they proved themselves too weak. Doe saw something of herself in these poor, but proud and strong, Pokemon. It was no surprise then that she began to build a team of Dark Pokemon to accompany her and Cap in their travels. One of her closest friends and partners besides Cap, was a Poochyena named Rain, one of her first rescues.

Eventually, Doe, Cap, and Rain made their way from Hoen to Kanto, and explored the region for a while, until they reached the small mountain town of Lavender. There, they found a town beset by unruly Ghost pokemon, and little the locals did could stop them. Doe on the other hand, knew exactly what to do. She sent in Rain and the rest of her Dark Pokemon and subdued the Ghosts, allowing the old Mr. Fuji to calm them enough to return to the House of Memories.

The townsfolk, in gratitude for saving their town, allowed Doe to stay, and happily embraced her Dark Pokemon as well. It took less than a year for her to set up her Gym, the first Gym ever to be dedicated to the Dark type. In addition, Doe also took over and expanded Mr. Fuji's Pokemon Care Center when he became too old to run it himself.

History: Served meritoriously with the Kanto regional police and granted a detective position early on in his career. Along with his Pokemon partner Molly, a Growlithe, he was able to develop an impressive record of cases solved. The assignment that ruined his promising career started in Pallet Town, a politician's son was starting where most kids in Kanto began a journey of training Pokemon. Abe had never been keen on the practice of sending pre-teens into the wild with deadly creatures, but he would search for the child all the same. Weeks went by with no headway being made into the case, all the people he talked to in Pallet town to Viridian City all said the kid had passed through there but the path stopped at the forest.

No progress lead to frustrated parents and the high social status they had made the story a media sensation. The spotlight was squarely centered on Abe and every day that past labeled him as disinterested, bumbling, and callous. When the time came for the case to be shelved not too many people didn't know the name of Abe Ayers the incompetent detective. The police, in order to preserve their public image, coerced him into retiring. Abe assumed the new name of "Riley Nolan" and scraped by as a private investigator for years until an old friend came to check on him.

They found a rundown drunkard who lived in their cramped equally rundown office. Knowing what to expect from Abe they offered him a job as overseer for an exploratory trip to the obscure island of Rahlto.

History: Formerly a grunt of the insidious Team Rocket, Adam grew tired of stealing strange, powerful and exotic Pokemon when all he was ever given was a Zubat and a Rattata - and not very good examples of the two species, either. Eventually, he decided to steal from the thieves themselves - namely, the prize collection of Pokeballs used by an Executive. Thankfully, security within Team Rocket facilities was rarely anything beyond an easily obtainable Passkey, and the plan went off without a hitch...at least until the alarm was raised and the facility entered lockdown. Using one of the stolen Pokeballs to release a Zweilous seemed like a good idea at the time - at least until the two heads began bickering and tearing apart Grunts left right and center - as well as Adam's Zubat and Rattata when he tried to incapacitate the creature. Adam himself barely survived before recalling the savage Pokemon, vowing to never use it again until he could control the crazed beast.

Thankfully, the chaos caused enough damage for Adam to escape - however, he was now known and wanted by Team Rocket for his theft. Stealing one of Team Rocket's many obnoxious Magikarp-shaped submarines, Adam fled across the oceans in search of far-off lands where the long, vengeful arm of Team Rocket could not reach. Little did he know just how far he would have to flee to escape them...
