Pressure mounts on Prime Minister Naeva Rue as Senators call for resignation
Following the attack on Firrerre, and the alleged inaction of Prime Minister Naeva Rue, numerous Senators from the Free Worlds Alliance (FWA) have called for her resignation, with early reports indicating the group intends to submit a vote of no confidence in the coming days.
Firrerre, an FWA world that was subjected to an orbital bombardment by forces rumoured to be from the Sith Empire (SE) has seen the survivors of its Government unable to get hold of the Prime Minister, who has yet to make a statement about the attack, or muster any sort of combined support from member states to the embattled world. With Senator Cal Starros of Lothal, who was on the planet when the attack commenced and is now understood to be supporting in the relief work, calling for the FWA to take 'direct action' against the rising Sith thread, the Prime Minister looks to be on thin ice.
Speaking to the Herald earlier today, Senator Nicolas Clément of New Alderaan confirmed that he would be expecting the Prime Minister to step aside, with a comment understood to becoming later today.
Meanwhile, Senator Starros, who has joined Senator Clément in opposition to the Prime Minister said:
"It has become clear that the Prime Minister is not up to the task of leading the Free Worlds during the time of galactic crisis. Her office has been silent as the AMS has swept the galaxy, and she has said nothing when one of our allies was subjected to a genocide! This is simply intolerable, and it is time for her to either step aside or, if she refuses, be removed from office."
The Senator, who spoke to the Herald from the site of the ongoing relief work on Ferrerra is rumoured to have 'lost his cool' last night, after calls to the Prime Ministers office were left unanswered.
The two Senators for Lothal and New Alderaan, have been joined in their critique of the Prime Minister by Her Royal Highness, Princess Belasi, Senator of Belasco, who offered this comment:
""The Free Worlds Alliance suffers from two separate plagues: AMS, and the leadership of Naeva Rue. She did not lift a hand to aid Firrerre, nor could she even bother to offer any sort of statement regarding the situation. She was silent in the Senate, and she is silent now. I implore that she either begins to step up and act as a Prime Minister should, or step down to allow a more qualified leader to take her place."
Prime Minister Naeva Rue was unavailable for comment.
This rolling news story shall be updated as more information becomes available.
Update: The Herald understands that an emergency session of the FWA Senate has been called.
