Pressure mounts on Prime Minister Naeva Rue as Senators call for resignation

Following the attack on Firrerre, and the alleged inaction of Prime Minister Naeva Rue, numerous Senators from the Free Worlds Alliance (FWA) have called for her resignation, with early reports indicating the group intends to submit a vote of no confidence in the coming days.

Firrerre, an FWA world that was subjected to an orbital bombardment by forces rumoured to be from the Sith Empire (SE) has seen the survivors of its Government unable to get hold of the Prime Minister, who has yet to make a statement about the attack, or muster any sort of combined support from member states to the embattled world. With Senator Cal Starros of Lothal, who was on the planet when the attack commenced and is now understood to be supporting in the relief work, calling for the FWA to take 'direct action' against the rising Sith thread, the Prime Minister looks to be on thin ice.

Speaking to the Herald earlier today, Senator Nicolas Clément of New Alderaan confirmed that he would be expecting the Prime Minister to step aside, with a comment understood to becoming later today.

Meanwhile, Senator Starros, who has joined Senator Clément in opposition to the Prime Minister said:

"It has become clear that the Prime Minister is not up to the task of leading the Free Worlds during the time of galactic crisis. Her office has been silent as the AMS has swept the galaxy, and she has said nothing when one of our allies was subjected to a genocide! This is simply intolerable, and it is time for her to either step aside or, if she refuses, be removed from office."

The Senator, who spoke to the Herald from the site of the ongoing relief work on Ferrerra is rumoured to have 'lost his cool' last night, after calls to the Prime Ministers office were left unanswered.

The two Senators for Lothal and New Alderaan, have been joined in their critique of the Prime Minister by Her Royal Highness, Princess Belasi, Senator of Belasco, who offered this comment:

""The Free Worlds Alliance suffers from two separate plagues: AMS, and the leadership of Naeva Rue. She did not lift a hand to aid Firrerre, nor could she even bother to offer any sort of statement regarding the situation. She was silent in the Senate, and she is silent now. I implore that she either begins to step up and act as a Prime Minister should, or step down to allow a more qualified leader to take her place."

Prime Minister Naeva Rue was unavailable for comment.

This rolling news story shall be updated as more information becomes available.

Update: The Herald understands that an emergency session of the FWA Senate has been called.

Addressed to all Free Citizens of the Republic, Free World's Alliance, and independent Systems Consortium,

"I am Claudias, ambassador of Brentaal, and first hand witness of the cruel act of barbarism perpetrated by the Sith against the world of Firrerre. I come to you, hours after nearly joining the list of casualties of this monstrous crime. I come to tell you one thing. I beg that you listen, for the sake of the Galaxy, and for our posterity.

What happened… was evil.

That is perhaps the only way it can be described. Wars are as natural as supernovas, and as long as men exist, they will fight each other. What you witnessed was not an act of war; it was an act of genocide.

Firrerre possesses no strategic value to the enemy. It was a humble border world, living peacefully within the boundaries of the free society that we as citizens of the Republic, Free Worlds Alliance, ISC, or any world not dominated by the Sith believed in. Yet the Sith arrived, not to conquer Firrerre, or sack Firrerre, but
destroy Firrerre.

They destroyed cities, glassed the planet’s surface, and slaughtered her people to the near last. The intention was not to make war— it was to kill on such a massive scale for killing’s sake.

The Sith will tell you that they are trying to restore the empire of old, that long collapsed realm forged by Andraste and governed by her progeny.

You need only look upon Firrerre’s scorched surface to know that this is a bold faced lie. You need only see the charred bodies, need only watch as roofs collapse on escaping families, need only see parents holding the remains of their scorched children to know that this is the fate that awaits you. Firrerre did not particularly resist— it simply committed the crime that we all have had— believing in freedom, justice, security and independence. Not the blind rule of the strong.

Do not be cowed by this action. Every time a Sith Lord has ordered the destruction of a world, the Galaxy has rallied to do what it always has done in the face of tyranny: resist. Fight.

I call on the whole of the Galaxy to put their resources towards a total war against the Sith Empire, until whoever is responsible pays the ultimate price for their actions."
