I've never been on a star wars site before- I spent a few years on a Dragon Ball Z forum that honestly should have been Star Wars (the creator and his creative team use an abundance of Sci-Fi themes which... Honestly, they should've rebooted under a Star Wars theme, it would be easier to get into.) But I was briefly part of a roleplaying alliance in SW:ToR, and I've been playing through the KoTOR and Jedi Knight series for the last few months. I've been wanting to get into a Star Wars themed Roleplay, or, at the very least, to write something in the Star Wars Universe. But for some reason I can never get far writing solo. I feel a lack of real motivation to push forward or even start.

I'm hoping I can get into and enjoy this Site, though my legitimate knowledge of the EU/Legends lore is limited, so I'm probably disadvantaged. But that's kind of besides the point for the sake of this thread, so hi. Some of my friends call me NH. The group I was with before used my real name, but I'm not 100% comfortable flinging it around on forums, so NH or Reese works fine by me. Pleasure to meet you (all).

Welcome aboard! You don't really need to a lot about the EU, more so now than ever. The site is transition to a new setting here soon, with a lot of information on that in this section of the board.

That saves me a lot of time on the wiki then. Sweet. I'm pretty sure I know the answers to these questions from what I've read so far, but just so I'm sure; so long as the character isn't overpowered (in terms of abilities, qualities, and equipment), they can be force sensitive? The site I have experience on utilized a stat system, so it was a lot more... Time sensitive, I guess, and you sort of had that logical framework to prevent being overpowered by mistake.

I guess mainly, one, are Jedi Masters NPC's, actual writers, or both? And two, is it possible to start a character's training from the first thread they're in, or would one have to (using movie progression for simplicity's sake) start on Tatooine, find an excuse to travel to Dagobah, then wait for whoever plays a Jedi Master to have some free time? I'm asking mainly so that I get a better feel for what kind of experience/conditioning my character might have. If he's a partially trained Jedi from the get-go, he'll be thoroughly different than a guy who came from the Outer Rim to train. One would be more professional, and I'd probably play him as a pure light sider for a longer period of time. Meanwhile the zero training character would be more volatile, and would likely delve into the Dark Side/aggressive character traits more freely.
I hope that question made sense ._.

I'm pretty sure the NPC thing would be okay, especially with rule changes that have been made recently. You don't actually need one though, as you can start off as Jedi Knight, and being a Padawan with a Master is more of a flavor thing at this point. I'm not sure if Dagobah would really be place to go looking for Jedi Masters, but you can probably find most anyone to NPC a Jedi Master as long as you get the go ahead from the Jedi FL (who hasn't been determined yet). There aren't really going to be Jedi Masters in the traditional sense as far as I'm aware, per this they're going to be much more warlike, and we only really know that there will be a Jedi Knight Rank, and it will be the base rank everyone in the Jedi faction starts at. Other ranks and stuff haven't been announced as of yet, so no clue if there'd be Jedi Masters with actual writers behind them.

Should I wait to put together a profile until the transition is done then, or go ahead now?

You can go ahead now, just be sure to post it in the workshop section. I'd also recommend looking at the stickied thread there for the Jedi. As long as you remember that we don't know everything yet so some things will possibly need to be changed as information comes in, you should be fine.
