Along with the admins, the Faction Leaders have discussed new, more strict guidelines when it comes to POWs. I believe the same general principle will be in effect in both of the other main factions, but if you have question relating to their faction please get in touch with them. New rules are as follows.

  • Any member that has a captured character has one week in which to organize a rescue party and start the rescue thread.
  • It is the responsibility of the member with the captured character to organize the rescue and begin the thread.
  • Rescue threads are allowed to have heavy opposition, as would typically be the case in a real rescue attempt.
  • If a rescue has not been started after one week of a character being imprisoned, Sith Leadership reserves the right to execute the character in question.

If extenuating circumstances will prevent a member from being able to post a rescue thread within one week, speak to Sith Leadership (@RedneckLoves @Relent @Deviant) and we will do our best to come to a solution. Note that this does not mean we will always make exceptions to the rule, only that if serious RL issues prevent a person from adhering to this rule we will do our best to figure out a solution. These situations will be decided on a case by case basis.

Will methods other than combat be considered when it comes to getting people out of POW jails?

What would your suggestion be? Combat seems the most appropriate and straightforward approach to rescuing POWs.

Infiltration, prisons release scam (hustle style story lead approach), depending on the arrested party - a myriad of other options are available, like a swoop race (KOTOR style), bargaining or bribery, and much more :)

I think that those scenarios can certainly be discussed, as a lot of those ideas could be really awesome stories. Anything like this will also be a case by case basis, since it would depend on the member involved to come up with the idea and try to implement it. We may or may not choose to go with it depending on the value of the hostage, etc.

Prisoner swaps is always a good way to go as well. A lot of times in history, two warring factions have negotiations to get their captured man out.
