Not a new member, but one that hasn't been on here in a loooong time. It's changed a lot since I was last on. I plan to start anew and wipe my two old characters, even though I beleive they were wiped anyway. In the meantime I've been on several lower class RP forums, where I find myself in the upper class of role play ability. I hope to challenge my skill here.

PS: Can someone help me create my first character? I need a planet that would be a good place for a very wealthy human family to live. My Star Wars knowledge is limited, any suggestions?

Welcome back, if you're looking to do a new start you've come at an excellent time as we're transitioning to a new timeline here soon!

I wouldn't worry too much about what planet your character comes from, humans are pretty widespread and finding a wealthy planet isn't all that hard. Alderaan, Kuat, Coruscant, Empress Teta, Corellia, Naboo, Eriadu, Commenor, Taris, and so many more can easily fit your needs. I'd suggest looking at this topic in the Roleplay help for some good advice on character creation.

Nope, the forum switched to Xenforo a while back, but the actual setting has not changed. Official news on the new timeline is here, and there's a player workshop where people are getting ready for it here.

First of all, Xenforo? And is there a release date? Is it worthwhile to post a character now or should I wait until this change?

Xneforo is the forum software we're using now, the change was some months ago. There's no hard release date, but it will likely be towards the end of this month. It's up to you whether or not it's worth making a character now, some people have just to try out how they're going about writing them and whether or not it's the kind of character they want to keep writing in the next timeline.

Hapes. Go with Hapes, there are never enough Hapans on the forum. The only downside is a complete lack of night vision - but hey, that's what the Force is for, amirite?
