OOC: Story Arc thread for Maximus - Unless agreed upon, there is no PC death.

Maximus dragged a hand over his face, releasing a weary groan as he looked over the information on the datapad for the third time, making sure that what he understood what he was reading. An old 'acquaintance' of Skur'kalos' had decided to show his face after dropping off the face of the galaxy after an entire decade had passed and had contacted her, wanting to meet with her in person to put their not-so-friendly past behind them.

He didn't know the reason for their rivalry, nor did he want to know, but it must have been something pretty damn serious for Ali Skur'kalos, 'Alpha' of Nar Shaddaa's Lunar Wolves, to outright reject his request to meet - as far as he could tell, the woman never turned down a proposition without thinking about it.

Not half an hour after she received his message, Skur'kalos sent Maximus to hunt down and take the man, Lesk'uran, alive for interrogation. It didn't take long for spies to find his location either - he was holed up in a compound belonging to the Circle, the primary rival of the Lunar Wolves for approximately ten years. Turns out, Lesk'uran helped with the founding of the Circle through contacts in order to 'get back at her.'

His plan worked well over the years, with the Circle constantly harassing the Wolves, until a full-blown war broke out between the two.

Maximus was drawn from his thoughts as the ship's intercom rang, "Attention all passengers, this is Cap'n Freya of the Firebird speaking - we will be arriving at our destination in about eight minutes, so you better check over your gear and holomessages to your loved ones before we touch down, because you won't get a chance to do so once you're on the field."

Looking over to a few seats next to and across from him, he saw five members of the Lunar Wolves, of whom were outfitted for combat and were put under his command, filling five of the ten seats in the Firebird. Then he looked to the four seats in front of him that weren't filled with members of the Lunar Wolves, taking a look at the independent contractors [[OOC: PC's]] that Skur'kalos had hired for the mission.

Having looked at everyone on board the gunship, Maximus brought his attention to himself - he donned his MK-I Tritanis, the helmet sitting on his left knee. Picking it up, he put it on and secured it, "AIDA, run a diagnostics scan."

A low hum, and a feminine voice shortly followed his words, "Yes sir - running scan. . . Vital signs normal. . . Armor status optimal. . ." The combat HUD appeared, blinking for a few seconds before stabilizing, "Heads-Up Display Functional. . . All primary and sub-systems operational."

"Thanks AIDA." Looking back at the others, he stood from his seat and he tapped the side of his helmet, "Alright people, be sure to be on the correct frequency - you don't want to be stuck in a firefight where your only friend is static! Maintain communications! As for the mission, I'm sure that you've all been briefed, but I'll go over our objectives."

"This mission is simple, find and detain Lesk'uran. He's hiding inside a compound belonging to the Circle, a rival 'organization' to our current employers, the Lunar Wolves. Now, this compound is fifty-seven floors and is, essentially, a fortress on the ground, hence why Freya is flying us in to drop us off on the roof - of which we will be expecting to be one hot LZ. But Skur'kalos had sent some wolves to knock on the front door, so the Circle's attention is likely to be drawn to the ground - if we're lucky, they might even pull some guards from the rooftop."

"After we're drop off and secure the LZ, we'll descend into the structure, find Lesk'uran, and get the hell out. A secondary objective is to rig some explosives to supportive sections of the building a quarter of the way down and blow it when we get the objective out of there - the weight alone should be enough to topple the rest of the building."

"Under no circumstance are you to underestimate the Circle - do so, and you'll likely be covered in blaster burns and dead before your mind can even register what happened. Are there any questions?"
