The large arena was silent, two combatants facing each other twenty meters apart in the center of the huge circular arena. Sand covered the arena floor, and the sun beat down from above. There was only one thing to do. Kill or be killed.

  • One generic level 1 Force user
  • One single bladed lightsaber.
  • Clothes

  • Keep fluff to a minimum, focus on technical detail
  • Instructors will be posting observations and advice throughout the thread, once every posting round or two.

Trillian looked to his opponent facing him a whopping twenty meters away to the north, the sun's rays shining bright against his robes. Saber in both hands in front of him, he pushed down the button on the silver hilt of his lightsaber shooting out a crackling stream of blood red plasma. Slowly inching his way towards his foe, he took an apprentice guard stance circling his opponent to the left so that the oppressive rays of light beat down on his back into his foes eyes.

"Come on let's make this quick!"
Trillian screeched as he readied himself for an attack preferring his match come to him rather than the other way around.

Ekaj pulled out his blade igniting the green blade as he stood ready, watching his opponent approach. Turning to keep his guard facing the opponent Ekaj let him circle him.

As soon as he called out Ekaj acted not by rushing but instead by just watching him. There was no need to rush in to battle.

Gritting his teeth Trillian pushed forward irregardless of his opponent's inaction. He was a cautious one just like him it seemed. With the sun now on his back he proceeded slowly toward melee range where the tip of a saber would barely graze the two.

With the distance now cleared, Trillian put one foot forward and thrust his saber with his right hand towards the boy's chest to where it would poke a burning hole in his chest. Afterwards Trillian would quickly retreat back into his guard stance.

Ekaj stepped back as he deflected the strike at him. As his opponent started to back of he pushed in. A force push aimed was sent forward as Ekaj struck at the man's legs. Not stopping the force push would send him back in the wall but stopping it would weaken his defenses leading to Ekaj removing the man's legs.

Not a bad start, a few things i would suggest to include in further posts.

@Miz Footwork is important, so its important to note which foot you are putting forwards. Knowing which foot is where can be useful for further footwork in combat. Additionally i would specify exact distance between yourself and your opponent. Closing to where the sabers tips are touching could be anywhere from under a meter to over 3 meters depending on what guard each character is in. Also it is helpful to specify how deep your strikes are intended to hit whether that be just an inch or a foot. As for retreating back into guard, its much better to leave attacks open ended, so that you have more time to respond and aren't committed to pulling back into guard. If you must retreat, remember to specify how far off you are moving, and the specifics of your guard stance.

@Andrewza remember to specify how you are deflecting the strike, as you can build a deflection into a parry and then riposte. Good job seizing the momentum of the fight while your opponent retreats. However i think in the future you should add more detail into how you are executing a force push while at the same time slashing at his legs. Also important is the details on how you are striking; which direction is the blade coming from, which direction is it travelling, where on your opponents legs will the blow land (legs are a rather large target after all), and what point of the blade is striking (grazing with the tip? deep cut with the first third of the blade? etc.)

You may continue the fight, and try to include details such as these from now on.

Taken off guard Trillan was pushed back out side of the range of his slash into the wall. He flipped to the side and cushioned the push with his left arm. Now squat kneeling 20 meters away from the guy, Trillian raised his saber to his chest horizontally in defense dumbfounded by the kid's skill.

Ekaj kept the momentum going. Knowing that his smaller size and less strength meant he needed to keep the fight in his favor. Rushing forward Ekaj moved in and jabbed at the exile, keeping it aimed low.
