Hello!

Since the first victim (Vyrzen) of my PvP lesson was quite successful in the acolyte tournament, I have decided to experiement a bit and try to explain basics of PvP to several students. Many acolytes are incredibly bad at duels, and I think it is a shame in a faction where dueling is the most important factor when it comes to promotions. So, who is interested in learning from me and Avreet?

The skill of a Sith character and their RPer has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with who their character's master is. Saying otherwise is just blatant bias. Just because somebody RP's a Sith apprentice well, does not mean that the RPer of the Master is as skilled and vice versa. Master/Apprentice relationships are formed purely for character development and storytelling. All new members must start with an Acolyte and develop their character from there, no matter how experienced they are.

Duelling is not the most important factor when it comes to promotions. Training is the most important for Acolytes who are required to do 6 training threads and teaching Acolytes is the most important for Crusaders, who are required to do 8 teaching threads (unfortunately).

Saying "many Acolytes suck at duelling" is a pretty shitty thing to say since there are very talented RPers with Acolyte characters, whereas there are high ranking Sith who aren't the best duellists themselves. Some people are good at PvP, others are better at storytelling. Geist Weist is a high ranking Sith and PvP is well known to be one of his weak points.

And why exactly are you telling me that skill of a master has nothing to do with their apprentice, slut?

Duels are definitely the most important aspect of promotions, as winning duels is required to advance, and players with many wins and good PvP skills are often promoted sooner than players who do not focus on PvP but do much more other things, like Force training and philosophy for example.

Saying that some acolytes suck is a fair thing since many acolytes do incredibly stupid mistakes when fighting, ultimately defeating themselves, so I'd like to help them to get better. So Martha, buy a vibrator and stop bothering people who actually want to do something useful for the faction.

IC, of course the skill of Sith Master influences the skill of their Apprentices, I'm talking about the OOC skill of the writer behind the character. Two people can RP together and have completely different writing styles and levels of experience.

I'm telling you this because you've frequently admitted that you're bad at PvP, but you're suddenly acting like you're superior because your character's apprentice won a tournament. If that wasn't your intention then I'm sorry, but that's certainly the vibe you're giving.

Duels are not the most important part, this is stated clearly in the promotion requirements thread. Three duels are all that is required for an Acolyte to get a promotion, whereas only 5 is needed for a Crusader.

Some Acolytes are bad at duelling, because PvP isn't their RPer's strong point, but there are also writers with Acolyte characters who are great PvPers.

Look under her name, I just called her by what she calls herself.

Martha, I have really sucked at PvP, or so I thought. Now I know it was mostly because I did not understand it correctly. 12 loses without even scoring a hit, yes, that was my glorious result. After having a very long PM conversation with Vindictive who has Slypher, I suddenly scored 6 wins in a row. Coincidence? After sending a loooong PM to NB and doing a thread to prepare him for the tournament, he kicked ass. You can look at his previous dueling threads to see how he had gotten better. I believe many players do not know how to PvP properly because of lack of OOC explanation.

That escalated really quickly, huh.

Names and proper nouns both get a capitalized letter, qtpie.

But I agree wholeheartedly with Malice, rudeness aside.

That still gives you no right to call names, or make suggestions about what she should be buying.

As for the rest of your comment, if you think you have some newfound insight into winning PvPs then make an OOC thread about it. Its the OOC talks that helped you, so make an OOC post, instead of boasting about training someone who won something. Right now it seems like you're just trying to use it go further your character's prestige. And its not acolytes who are good or bad at PvPs, its the writers who have different levels of comfort with PvPs. By saying acolytes suck at PvPs you are saying their writers suck, so once more, think before you speak.

Tell you what, I'l sign up for this. I hate PvPs, maybe because I'm not good at them or maybe because I just find them interesting, lets see if your insight can make me feel differently about them.
