Our minds are fickle things.

Each and everyday we exchange information with others, both giving and receiving. When we come to disagreement we each try to persuade or convince others to our own beliefs or causes. Sometimes we succeed, but that is a gradual process. Never really are we convinced immediately of others’ opinions.

When we believe something with conviction, it seems nearly silly when picturing the offerings of other persons.

And yet time and again many of us change. The religious comes to doubt their beliefs and as does the atheist. What had seemed impossible, changing our minds, certainly becomes very real indeed.

Many a time, it is not agreeing with someone’s argument that prompts this change. When in a conflict, no matter how civil both sides are, we are immediately defensive of our own opinions. This means verbally we are unlikely to concede, and likewise our mind is unlikely to accept the point disregardless of the logic behind it.

However, often all it takes is one seed of doubt. One breach in our defenses, and the start of change can be laid down. One point which we cannot come to grips with in our minds is often all it takes for the rest of our beliefs to collapse.

A couple has brewing problems and disputes. A friend of the two unwittingly decides to listen to the words of both parties. They are originally a mediator, staunch and fervently neutral. Over time, it is only natural that they begin to fall alongside one side slightly more than the other. As this is detected, it is again only natural that the other party is more dejected to speak to the mediator due to conflicting views.

From there, the slight tilt in balance transforms into the abandonment of the illusion of neutrality. Spurred and energised by the so called mediator agreeing with them, the triumphant party speaks more and more enthusiastically. Faced with such a one sided source of information, whether it be sympathy baiting lies or truth not being important, our mediator finds themselves unable to empathise with the silent side.

Eventually even a complete bystander would note the complete lack of a mediator, for it has become a contest of two versus one.

Our minds are fickle things.

6'7" and 200lbs (90kg)?
I know blokes who are 5'9" and weigh that much.
Considering the species you have chosen is notably muscular, you really need to address this. Unless this dude is anorexic, you should hit that up to at least 230lbs, or make him 6'3"-6'4".

Whoops, thanks.

I had actually meant for it to be 230 pounds (I pictured a basketball player physique). Let's go to 240 for good measure.
