Queen Réillata elected Monarch of the Naboo​

The Government of Naboo has today announced the formal election of a new Monarch, Her Royal Highness, Queen Réillata of Naboo. In a sector-wide election, which was triggered following the conclusion of the sitting term of outgoing Monarch, Emilia Parnelli, Sandé Veruna of the eponymous House of the same name took the position with a commanding lead. The accession council, which oversees monarchial elections on the ISC world, confirmed that Ms Veruna has taken the regnal name Réillata.

Whilst the exact dates have yet to be confirmed, the Coronation, which will mark the commencement of the Queen's reign is set to take place in the coming days. Queen Réillata joins her brother, Kai Veruna (who serves as the Governor of the planet for the ISC, the galactic organisation to which Naboo belonged) in the halls of power of Naboo.

In an official statement the Queen said:

"Today marks a new era for the Naboo, in which we increase our diplomatic ties with surrounding worlds, and take a more active role in doing our part to tackle the virus, the side-effects of conflict, and much more. Naboo has always been a world that never shied away from doing what was right, and in partnership with President Thorne of the Independent Systems Consortium, we will expand on the works of Queen Parnelli, to cement Naboos place as a leading world of the region."​

[Kai Veruna]

Amber liquid splashed down onto the ice, smoothly rolling over its surface and into the bottom of the glass as the cube rose. He swirled it around, flicking his right hand in a circle, a cigarra poised between the index and middle fingers of his left hand, then took a sip, exhaling in satisfaction and turning on his heel. Kai threw himself back down onto the massive black couch, sinking into its pillows as though they were quicksand.

He took another drag of the cigarra just as the commercials ended and the broadcast began, the massive screen in front of him filled by a news anchor.

Kai smirked as his sister (@Nor'baal) appeared on screen.

"So it does make her look taller," he thought aloud, taking in the words of her speech, the one he'd already heard probably hundreds of times as she practiced it in front of him. He recited it word for word as she spoke, finishing the last sentence with a nod, exactly as she did.

Only a passing mention of him so far, though that did not irk him. His sister was the only one he could not envy, because he was simply happy to see her there. Besides, he had not even put himself out there, had not given any speeches to the masses or interviews for the holonet journalists. All would come in due time, but the next week would be all about his sister and her coronation.

Their victory in the election had not surprised him in the least. He'd been there every step of the way, dutifully at her side, offering guidance when it was needed and silence when she needed to think. Her victory in the election was a given; the previous Queen had done little for her people and was not seen much throughout her reign, a controversial affair all throughout for the political world of Naboo, though she would only know that if she had at all been present. Kai harbored no ill will for her however, especially considering how cooperative she had been of promoting a smooth transition of power. Not all who wield power know what to do with it.

Finishing the glass of whiskey, ducking his head back as it hit his throat and coursed smoothly down, he set the glass on the caf table in front of him and put the cigarra out.

"Well done, Sandé."

It was time for them to get to work.
