The Shadow

I admit you won’t see me again
My end is desperately engaged
Dark, departed, hollow
You see I'm just a shadow
This ravenous beast is chasing shame
A shadow he remains

Quentell Xall
~Grand Master of the Shade Order~

“I walk the Shaded Path…”

Age: 51
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Force Sensitive: Yes
Faction: The Shade Order
Rank: Grand Master
Preferred Weapon: Lightsaber

COMPOSITION AND APPEARANCE:
Quentell is a Human male of about 1.77m in height. He has long hair. It was once dirty blonde but it is starting to become grey. He has a beard and a moustache. Although he looks older, his eyes still show youth and the lust for adventure.

His body is scarred due to the tortures during his imprisonment on Nal Hutta. Across his face is also a scar he received from the tortures. See history for an explanation.

Quentell often wears his mercenary clothing, even when he is in the enclave. He doesn’t wear his traditional Shade Robes anymore, unless he is attending special meetings or ceremonies.

PERSONALITY:
Quentell is a friendly person. He enjoys a good laugh, but he can be very serious when he needs to. He has a lot of experience and he knows much. He is a very wise man, but when he doesn’t need to act wise he acts more joyful and humoristic.
His humor is a bit dry, sometimes even cynic, but most people can laugh about it.

Quentell has great control over his anger and his Dark Side. He uses his Dark Side for the Light and he seems to have learned how to be resistant to the Dark Side. He never falls for it, though he has in his youth. When in combat he taps into his Darker Side and Anger and he uses it to defeat his enemies and protect himself and his allies and the innocent.

LIKES AND DISLIKES:
There is a lot that he likes and even more he dislikes. He dislikes hypocrite politicians and he dislikes outlaws. He doesn’t like it when people shout orders at him and he hates it when people treat him like he is nothing.
He likes traveling and adventuring and he enjoys training new Padawans. He has great interest in the Force and he studies it, even now he is a Master. He likes lightsabers and the way they are build and work. He also likes spacetraveling, for it is such an excitement.

Quentell also loves to talk about his past adventures and so he often comes with bold tales. Many people believe him on his word and his stories are always true. He never makes up parts to make it sound better.

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
Quentell is an adept in the lightsaber form: Form V: Shien/Djem So. He is a talented swordsman and he is very good with Force Powers. He combines his lightsaber and his Force Powers in battle and this makes him a tough opponent. He knows when to engage an enemy and he knows when to run or surrender. He thinks there is no shame in surrendering, however, betrayal is very shameful indeed.
He also can handle ranged weapons amazingly well, and when on missions, he often carries his trusted Blaster Pistol with him. He usually first draws his pistol before drawing his lightsaber, though his saber is his preferred weapon.

HISTORY

Part I

~Origins~

origins.png

Born to Maxil Xall and Rosannè Xall on Gyndine in the capital city Yractos. Maxil was the owner of a cantina and his mother was a teacher at the local school. She taught Galactic Basic Standard, the most-used language throughout the galaxy.
Quentell was a boy like any other. He enjoyed the stories his father told him almost every evening, stories about bold adventurers who had visited his cantina. He played with his friends and he lived a normal life. Until he was discovered.

A Jedi visited Yractos for business that concerned only him, and he, somehow, sensed a strong Force Presence nearby. He searched and finally found the then nine years old Quentell Xall. After a very long discussion with the parents, Quentell was taken by the Jedi to the Jedi Order to be trained in the Ways of the Force.

~Jedi Padawan~

jedipadawan.png

Xall as a Jedi Padawan…

A master was assigned to Quentell soon after the young boy joined the Jedi. His master was Jacob Spiren, a bold Jedi Knight always looking for adventure, and thus he took his padawan on many adventures and missions.

In the beginning Xall was a very eager student. He listened to his master’s teachings and never questioned his master’s words. He believed that his master was always right and that he knew what was best for the both of them.

On a certain day, Quentell had reached age nineteen and neared completion of his training, Spiren and his padawan embarked on a mission to a Rogue world, far away from Ossus. Spiren had sensed a disturbance in the Force coming from there, and without asking for permission over at the high council, he went there together with his apprentice. Typically Spiren.
Upon arrival they were welcomed by an older man, of the Human species. He had a grey beard but a bald head. He greeted the two Jedi warmly but Spiren doubted that this man could be trusted. He did not know that anyone lived on the Rogue world they were on.

The man invited them to stay in his cottage and at first Spiren declined but Quentell thought it was better to accept the offer. In the end Spiren agreed and the Jedi stayed with the old man for a few days.
The old man spoke to Quentell a lot, something that Spiren did not like to see. Something was wrong with this man and it seemed he was playing with Quentell’s mind.

~Fall To The Dark Side~

falltothedark2.png

Xall, after falling to the Dark Side…

It was soon discovered that this strange hermit was what caused the disturbance Spiren felt. The hermit was a Dark Jedi and he had been pulling Quentell towards the Dark Side of the Force. This Dark Jedi hermit had set the padawan up against his master and Spiren was forced to defend himself against his own student. Quentell was driven by the Dark Side, and he was blinded. He only fell because the hermit had managed to make him believe that the Dark Side was the ultimate power. The hermit was good with words and with a strong Force Persuasion, Quentell was turned.

Master and apprentice dueled and finally, Spiren struck down his apprentice. After Quentell was stricken down to the ground the hermit appeared and he cast a strong and deadly wave of lighting at Spiren, and the good Jedi Knight was forced to flee, for this hermit seemed to be twice as powerful as Spiren was. He fled back to the Order, telling the masters his padawan had died on a dangerous mission.

Then the hermit continued to teach Quentell the ways of the Dark Side of the Force. Quentell had to call him The Elder and the two soon set off for Duro where they visited a tainted tomb. Here they meditated and Quentell found his inner Darkness. He felt the power and to succumb to it, he felt he had to strike down The Elder in cold blood. He activated his green lightsaber and killed off his former master.
After the kill in cold blood he collapsed and when he woke up hours later he realized what had happened. He was not a Dark Side follower, he was Quentell Xall. A Jedi. He fled from the tomb and collapsed from exhaustion in the woods. He then was found by a small party of hunters who took him to a nearby settlement where Quentell was treated in the medical bay.

~The Shade Order~

shadeorder.png

Xall as a young Shade Knight…

Figuring a return to the Jedi Order was impossible, Quentell was alone. He wandered through the galaxy for months until he discovered a new Order. It was the Shade Order.
There he was taken in and he was trained by Master Aleyn Julius.

Quentell soon continued to train his own students. He became a successful teacher and he taught them the ways of the Force. Most of his former students have proven to be great Knights in the Order.

Quentell often came up with new ideas for his teachings and so, after every Padawan he trained, his training became better and longer.

Grandmaster Cain Ray disappeared for a while, but right before he would disappear, he promoted Quentell to the rank of Shade Master.

Part II

~Duel On Albecus~

duelonalbecus.png

Five years later Quentell was assigned to travel to Albecus to investigate a disturbance in the Force. He knew the planet was Jedi friendly, so he wondered what exactly was going on. Arriving there, it took him three days to find out what was causing the disturbance.

A Dark Jedi, probably Ospion, was there training a student. The Ospion Knight sensed the Shade Master’s presence and could not find out who or what he was because Quentell seemed to walk between the Light and Dark.

Quentell also sensed these Ospion and he found them three days after his arrival on Albecus. The Ospions immediately engaged him and Quentell was forced to defend himself with his lightsaber. He battled the Ospion Knight and the Apprentice stood by, watching the duel and afraid to do anything.

In the end, Quentell was forced to kill the Ospion off and he turned towards the Ospion Padawan. He walked over to the young Rodian man and he could feel the fear that the Rodian felt. Then Quentell switched off his lightsaber and talked to the Padawan. After the talking he managed to redeem him and the Rodian swore he would cut his connection from the Force and the Dark Side. He would return to his old life as a bartender on Nar Shaddaa. Quentell tried to get him to the Shade Order but the Rodian absolutely didn’t want anything to do with the Force anymore and so Quentell let the young man go. He was at least satisfied that he managed to redeem him.

Quentell retrieved the Lightsaber from the fallen Ospion Guardian and took it with him back to the Enclave on Thyferra.

Quentell studied the Lightsaber he had retrieved from the Ospion Knight and he disassembled it. He took out the crystal and put in a new one. A blue crystal instead of the red one that had been in it. He reassembled the weapon and activated it. He began practicing with duel wield and in time he mastered the form and was able to use two Lightsabers at the same time.

~Mission To Nal Hutta~

missiontonalhutta.png

Quentell embarked on a new mission to Nal Hutta, to check out what was going on over at the Hutts. He went there undercover as a mercenary, trying to find work, perhaps working for The Hutts.

He found work soon as a bodyguard for a rather large Hutt and he undertook many missions for him, using his Blaster Pistol instead of his Lightsabers. He had his Lightsabers with him, but he of course did not show them or use them. He also used as less Force Powers as possible, only using it when he needed to.

Quentell worked his way up and he achieved a rather high rank. At the time he was 45 years old and The Hutts and all the others believed him to be an experienced mercenary. One of his missions was to retrieve money that a club owner owed The Hutt and if he would not be able to pay, Quentell has to kill the man.
Quentell went to his club and chatted with the man, he could not drop his cover by aiding this man and of course the man was not able to pay the debt. Against his principals Quentell was forced to kill the man, but because it really was against his principals he refused. When his men he had with him, attacked the man Quentell drew both his lightsabers and protected the man, killing off all of his men. So he blew his cover and The Hutt found out Quentell was a Force-User. He thought that Quentell was a Jedi Knight and so he placed a bounty on Quentell’s head. It did not take long before a group of Bounty Hunters captured him and he was brought to The Hutt. The Hutt did not like Quentell’s betrayal and he threw him into his prison cell.

During his imprisonment he was tortured and The Hutt demanded him to speak where he came from and what he was doing. Quentell never spoke and underwent the tortures. He did not break. However, he would have used the Force to escape, if he hadn’t been weakened by the tortures.

After five years The Hutt gave up on Quentell. At the time Quentell was 50 years old and The Hutt put him on a transport to Nar Shaddaa where he would be imprisoned again.

~Escape From Nal Hutta and Quentell’s Future~

quentellsfuture.png

Xall, on the run from Bounty Hunters…

When two guards came to his holding cell, to take him to the transport, Quentell used the Force to Choke both the guards and he took off the pistols the guards were carrying. He used the Force to Speed through the hallway and rushed into an office where he shot all the men inside. He opened up a locked closet using the Force to Crush the lock and he retrieved his Lightsabers and his Blaster Pistol and he dropped the pistols the guards once used on the ground. He also retrieved his belt and clipped both his sabers to it and used his trusted Blaster Pistol to shoot himself a way out of the building. He was able to find his Lightsabers through the Force. Because he had made them through the Force there was a connection between him and the Lightsabers.

When he got out of the building he quickly ran towards the star port and stole a ship which was left unwatched for the moment. He took off and so he escaped from Nal Hutta.

Of course, The Hutt heard of Quentell’s escape and sent bounty hunters after the Shade Master, to kill him.

One year later, Quentell was 51 years old, he was hiding on Coruscant and making plans to travel back to Thyferra. He would have returned to the enclave already, if he wasn’t being chased by dozens of Bounty Hunters. He did not want to reveal the location of the enclave to the Bounty Hunters.

Quentell is still hiding on Coruscant and his about to embark on his journey back to the Enclave. After 6 years of tortures and imprisonment he would return. He figured Grandmaster Ray would ought him dead, as would all the other Shades. He also wondered if the Order still existed. He would find out soon enough…
