Brooms up, guys! Quidditch is official!

I'm a Quidditch played for my college, so this is really exciting to me. A Quidditch expo is going to be in the London Olympics! It's one more step towards 'muggle' Quidditch becoming a recognized sport. Anyway, there is definitely going to be match between the US and UK! Australia is also bringing a team, and there are probably going to be other teams as well!

There is a lot of information to be found on the International Quidditch Association site, and around online if you guys want to check it out! ^-^

That's so cool! I cannot wait to see this during the Olympics.

Edit; I do want to add, I've never seen muggle Quidditch, so.... I'm curious. xD

So yeah, this should be interesting to watch. Seeing people who take the game seriously and competitively on campus has always been enjoyable, I can't imagine what this is going to be like.

Haha it's pretty intense sport. I hope our representative teams do a good job. ^-^

Have you even seen how muggle quidditch is played? I've had team mates break bones. It's a really intense sport, like almost, if not as bad as football.

:CIsee ^ See my reply to Mendazx. It is not stupid or retarded! :CCry2

XD We Quidditch players do indeed take it seriously. It's really fun, competitive, and we really would like to see it as a sport that people will take seriously because it's the same, if not more difficult than regular sports.

Yeah, break bones over stupid crap. All this is going to do is take attention away from real events of skill instead of fanatic fanboys looking like jackasses.

Yeah, heaven forbid they take away attention from rhythmic gymnastics.

I never said all the Olympic events are perfect, but we certainly do not need events taken directly from fantasy. What is next? ****ing blitzball?

Honestly, what does it matter if it's taken from fantasy?

People enjoy it, playing this game makes them happy, so while I respect your opinion, you're wrong in calling it stupid a few comments back.

Also I'm curious what doesn't make this a real sport, people participate, there's teams in various countries, I believe there's even a Quidditch World Cup. So it came from a book...WHO CARES. If these people are happy doing what they're doing, and they're making a career out of it, all power to them.

Like other sports don't break bones over stupid crap? Lol. Breaking bones in itself is stupid. And that could be said for any sport when it was first invented. The very fact that it is going to be in the Olympics means it is starting to be considered a 'real event of skill'. It may be originally taken from the books, but there are some major changes that were made to the rules and stuff to make it as 'real' a sport as possible. We have a fricking thick rule book too. xD

They can play Quidditch till they choke, just keep it out of an international sporting competition that dates back to Ancient Greece.

I love you and respect your opinion highly...but if those people wanna play a sport, choose soccer. Apparently they play it on the same field, only they put fake brooms between their legs and ride around like Happy Gilmore celebrating. Leave it to the wizards who can actually fly, leave it as fiction.

.... uhm... a lot of sports played in the Olympics don't date back to Ancient Greece... I don't see how this point is valid.
