DESCRIPTION​

The Coronet Arms R-8 is a model of hand blaster commonly sold in sets and typically used as the weapon of choice in honor duels between aggrieved parties. Finely made and expensive, they can fire a single shot before needing a recharge, and are limited to a range of 20 meters, the typical distance between duelists. Although they do have a stun setting, this is not typically used except in practice duels, or in situations where death is not considered a desirable outcome.

Lethal duels are considered illegal on most civilized worlds, and though the weapons themselves may not be technically illegal, their intended use is. Nevertheless, dueling with blasters is still practiced on a number of planets, and thus the R-8 continues to have a market.

LEGALITY​

Restricted. Ownership of heavy blaster pistols without extensive certification and licensing is considered unlawful in many parts of the Galaxy. Carrying one openly is a good way to get extra police scrutiny on more civilized world, although it might make a good deterrent on less civilized ones.
