*The whirring of computers, sensors, and other electrical units is heard in the uncommented silence of the log’s beginning. The rattle of clothing becomes a part of the soundscape as someone shuffles closer to the recording device and draws a long breath*

“This is Raskander, son of Rakhianos, of the Tribe of Tsakadros. I begin this log while the memories of my home world are still vivid in my mind, and Wrea is still visible beyond the viewport.

*There’s a pause in the monologue. More shuffling is heard*

“As of this recording, I am 16 years of age and aboard the vessel
The Curiosity. It is a custom for Fatemarked of my tribe to record their story upon embarkation, in case their exploration sends them into the embrace of Wrea sooner than expected. It is therefore more out of duty than anything else that I record this.

*A deep sigh is heard*

“I don’t know if you can hear it, but the noise in the background is the navicomp calculating hyperspace coordinates. It’s odd, knowing that I might never see my family again. That Wrea might forever remain just a part of my past. But I had to go. I just had to. Wrea doesn’t hold my destiny, even if she holds a claim to my soul in the afterlife.

*The rumbling and rattling in the background intensifies. There’s more shuffling of clothes and muffled voices are heard*

“Klokos says the ship’s about to jump. I’ll finish this later”

*The log opens with the noise of what sounds like a crowded open space. The excited breathing of someone is easily audible through the noise*

“Hey log, how’re you doing? It’s Rask again, coming to you from the refresher of a cantina somewhere on Coruscant. It’s called The Wrean and Me, can you believe that? Obviously, Klokos and I had to grab a drink in there. Its interior decorations are some core-dweller’s sad interpretation of what Thalassa or Leucothia would look like. Tacky, really.

“Father, you would be amazed at the kind of structures they’re able to build on the surface of this world. Wrea is wrapped in a water’s embrace – Coruscant is wrapped in one of durasteel and permacrete. If they had a deity, it would be the master of manufacture. But I know that you with your knowledge would be able to appreciate it far better than I.

“Now I have to go. Tonight, we’ll sit down and plan the next leg of our journey.”

*The recording is silent except for the sniffs of someone sitting nearby*

“I, uhm…”

*The voice cracks, and the person stays silent for a bit*

“Klokos and I have parted ways. We were at odds on how to proceed with our journey and in the end, he decided to cut the journey short and go back to Wrea. We’ve never had such a falling out before. That he’s a Willmarked and I’m Fatemarked has never been an issue, but every suppressed frustration seemed to surface. I doubt that I will see him again anytime soon.

*The voice pauses. Now the muffled sounds of music and drunken conversation can be heard far away*

“He took The Curiosity, so now I’m dependent on other means of transport. I’m still set on credits, so securing a spot on a freighter going rimward shouldn’t be a problem. Next up is the Perlemian Trade Route.

”I’m spending the night in a seedy motel here on Corulag. Tomorrow I’m taking the first freighter out of here.”

*A cacophony of sound emits from the data recorder. A voice is heard through the noise, albeit not very loudly*

“I only have a moment to record this. I’m at a marketplace in one of the busiest starports on Lianna. So many people, it’s hard to know where to rest one’s eyes. This trip has been an eye opener. The Galaxy is enormous, endless really, and it has so much to offer those who do not shy away from accepting its bounties. I’ve thought long and hard about my destiny and how I plan to shape it, and I feel like I’ve come closer to a path. I meditate on it every day, and it’s like the answer is just beyond a thin veil that still inhibits me from seeing clearly.

“I’ve met a Human, Xhez, who accompanies me on my travels now. He’s a bit of an enigma, but he is nice to me and sees the Galaxy and our place in it as I do. He’s convinced me to head toward the Stygian Caldera on the next leg of our journey. It’s part of the Imperial Republica and probably the only sector of the Outer Rim where order is upheld. I want to experience the contrast between the innermost and outermost parts of the emperor’s sovereignty.

It won’t stay for long. I know they’re always searching for Force-sensitive, and as much as I admire the Imperial Republica for upholding order for as long as it has, my place is among my people.

Xhez doesn’t know. I don’t think he can tap into the Force.”

*The recording begins with the frantic beeps of alarms in the background. The voice starts talking almost immediately after the beginning of the recording*

“They’ve locked onto us with a tractor beam and are boarding our ship as I speak. I don’t know what the Imperials want, we stated that our intent was purely exploratory. They have no reason to force themselves on us

*The swooshing sound of a door sliding open is heard, and voices mix with the voice of the speaker*

“Raskander Tsakadros, and this is Xhez. We’re here as tourists and… Xhez, what are you doing? Get your hands off my…”

*The voice returns, this time audibly different in intonation and tone. Almost as if the person has changed himself*

“Hello, log. This is entry number eighty-three, the final entry by Raskander, son of Rakhianos, of the Tribe of Tsakadros. When I set out, so many galactic standard months ago, I thought that I would eventually return to Wrea and swim once again in Her oceans. Today, I accept the fact that I won’t. Raskander will never again set foot on his ancestral soil, and whether his soul will return to Wrea is debatable.

“I don’t think She would even have him. Raskander was a wimp and a whiner, a naïve dreamer with no vision or ambition. He dreamt of shaping his future as was the right of a Fatemarked yet lacked the tenacity to do so. He refused to listen to his own desires.

*There’s a void in the entry, as if the speaker is pausing to think*

“Raskander’s last day was spent in the Academy on Korriban. There he died and was laid to rest by me. No burial in a watery grave. No wreaths of seaweed on his coffin. His tomb is unmarked, insignificant like his life. Let the memory of him fade.”

Appearance:

As is common for men of his ilk, Raskander sports a slender frame with dense musculature wrapping its way around bones and sinew. He is tall and has a slightly curvy spine that makes his left shoulder reach higher than his right when standing erect. He has a narrow face, almost seahorsy in shape, with thin, skulking eyes that used to express warmth and wonder. His cheekbones are pronounced, his eyebrows bushy, and his beard is scruffy and full. Dark is his hair and skin, and his tattoos wreath their way across his face, chest and arms, shaped like festoons of seaweed interspersed with droplets of water.

Like most Sith Acolytes, he wears the dark robes of his order. He wears golden jewelry in both eyebrows, his nose and his ears.

Attributes:

Raskander’s connection to the Force is strong, but he has never been able to tap into the mystical side of the it. His forte is the use of the Force to augment his physical abilities. He is an established lightsaber duelist and fights intelligently, pragmatically and, some would say, dishonorably. Raskander cares not for notions of honor. He cares about winning.

Raskander also has a shrewd mind, and plotting has become second nature to him. However, like many other young Sith, his ambition and hubris are also his weaknesses. Striving toward greatness whilst preventing a premature downfall is essentially like balancing on a knife’s edge.

Raskander’s spiritual upbringing could also be considered a weakness. It means that he might interpret events like the will of the Force, thus ignoring signs of plots against him by people around him. He will have to learn to shed that mantle, if he wishes to climb the ladder of power in the Old Empire.

Personality:

Raskander is not a hermit and has quite well-developed social abilities, even if he might seem a bit eccentric to some. Though his fall to the Dark Side has changed him much, he is still influenced by his Wrean upbringing in ways he is not conscious of himself.

The Wrean is proud and has the need to better himself at the expense of others. He belittles those who are beneath him in rank, shows the appropriate respect to those who are above him. His time at the Academy has taught him to see other people as tools to be used for his own advancement, whether through brute force, diplomacy or manipulation. Somewhere underneath, though, a shred of his former self remains. It may be the source of his eventual redemption or the catalyst for his downfall.

Hey @Casmer , do you have any sources of info on the Wrean? They're on the wiki but it's a stub, is their any art of them or anything or is it just up for interpretation?

@Bigfatpenn , the site’s very own @Korvo has made a write-up of the species down in the Approved Species section. Take a look, it is very well written and provides a tonne of details about the Wrean :)
