One of my dogs got bit today, I got home and saw her looking miserably through my sliding glass back door with a swollen face. I drove her to the vet and my parents had to pay 4000$ for the Anti-venom and treatments and she had to stay there overnight. They said sometimes dogs make it, and sometimes they don't depending on the amount of venom injected.
First thing I did when I got home was look for the bastard. I found it on the side of my house taking shelter in some folded up mats being propped up by my 4wheeler. I waited for my dad to get home and we couldn't get it with the shovel so we shot it with a 22. pistol, wasn't easy though because that scaly bastard took some warning strikes at us. Shits unnerving. It was rattling the whole time, it was a very chilling sound We didn't get it in the head but we shot its body and that gave us enough courage to finish it off with a shovel. This sound of its rattle slowly died down, getting fainter and fainter until it stopped.
If you've ever seen a recently killed snake before you'd know that they down stop moving for a while do to reflexes (that's why you have to cut of their heads to keep them from biting).
Anyway we through the body over the fence... should have taken a picture of it first. But we kept the rattler and I got some pictures of that and a picture of where the whole thing went down.
