Vena had been reassigned after the events on Murkhana. Not because she had done bad work, mind you, but because someone believed her talents would be wasted on that planet. News of several mercenary attacks -all claimed by the cartel- had reached the rank-and-file by now and there was a surprising amount personnel around in the large garrisson cantina of the Raxus Main Imperial Garrison. Most already cheered for those that had succesfully repelled the mercenaries, but secretly Vena was more interested in the news from Ossus. An attack by the Sith Order showed a shifting balance of power. Not that the Empire was weakened by recent events, but when the Sith Order finally became strong enough... then Vena wouldn't have to hide her allegiance to the Dark Lord anymore.

"Vena!" a peacekeeper in a largely unbuttoned uniform shirt greeted her with the enthusiasm of having already having some Bothan courage in your blood. Vena smiled back at him, "Almost didn't recognize you in leisure clothing," the peacekeeper continued as his gaze momentarily shifted down. Vena wore last-year's fashion, the standard Imperial one, not what they wore in the Core. "Haha yeah," she feigned interest, "I almost feel naked without the armor." A poor choice of words, she knew, because the peacekeeper clearly had trouble suppressing a grin.

"You stay here at the barracks?" the question betrayed what he had on his mind, so Vena quickly shook her head, "Knight's own base. Standard procedure since," she trailed her words in reference to the unsolved murder of Director Senyn's daughter here at the barracks some time ago. The grin on the peacekeeper instantly disappeared, "Kara," he sighed, clearly remembering the prodigal lieutenant's unfortune death.

Vena put a hand on his shoulder as some kind of fraternal reassurance, breaking any other kind of relation he might have been after in his state, and then walked passed him towards the bar. "A spiced 'tini, please"

The Hutts declare war on the Empire. A contingent of mercenaries, made up mainly of Gamorreans, raid Mygeeto. Elsewhere, a small group of Kordan Mandalorians assault the ambassador’s complex on Murkhana.

Kordan Mandalorians. Or is it Mandalorian Kordans? Or did it even matter? Monkeys. He wasn’t racist, couldn’t afford to be, but an ape was an ape, and those mercenaries were another story. Old news anyway.

It wasn’t. Not really. The events were still fresh. Just on repeat on the viewscreen overhead. Reports catered to the audience in what way they did, but the basics of attempted invasions in more than one place of the galaxy were apparent.

“Another one?” The bartender offered the patron, the latter sitting on a stool in a black leather jacket striped in red.

“Hit it,” Callum tapped the counter, sober as ever, but could do with another gin and tonic.

Bartender went to do his business for his customer as another patron arrived at the other’s side. A woman who caught the former’s attention with a request of her own.

Casual clothing, like him, no outright uniform to offer her position. If Callum ought to recognize her face and a name to go with it, well, he didn’t in that instant.

“Comin’ right up, miss.” Bartender vanished for the moment.
“Not bad. For Imperial.” Callum looked to the lady adjacent.
“The martinis in this cantina I mean.” He spoke with no grin.
Wasn’t flirting with her. This was just a chance conversation.
“Granted, I’m sipping gin while thinking of Knights and Sith.”
Musing dialogue, distracted, when news flashed over Ossus.
