Drow Venn sat garbed in his usual undercover outfit; that of a common gardener. As leader of the Shadows, it benefitted him by allowing him to walk almost unseen by the rest of the galaxy and concealed his face with the wide brimmed hat with a front flap attachment. People tended to act as though common laborers didn't exist so the Ishi Tib Jedi Master was often able to overhear some very interesting and pertinent pieces of information simply by just being at the right place at the right time.
Tonight should hopefully prove fruitful. Part of his assignment as First Shadow was to bolster the ranks of the Jedi Shadow organization and, in between missions, Drow had been poring over mission logs and recommendation lists searching for a suitable candidate. It wasn't a task to be taken lightly. The path of the Jedi Shadow was not for everyone as it often involved dangerous assignments, undercover missions, and walking right up to the edge of the Dark Side without falling in. Drow was a venerable Master of considerable age and the leader of the Shadows and even he often felt he wasn't up to the task. But recently, his sights had been set on one Hal Mikko.
From what he'd been able to access from the Council library, the boy had had an extraordinary struggle in life. His Jedi Master had been slain by slavers and he himself had spent a couple of years under the yoke of many a cruel slave owner. Granted there appeared to have been...an incident by which the boy had earned his freedom but anyone who could come back from that and still function as a Jedi would surely make a good shadow in Drow's book. Now, the only thing left was to see how well the boy could handle himself in a fight.
So, he'd gone to Corellia , where he knew Hal currently was on a mission. After the mission's completion, Drow had sent up a Jedi distress beacon in an abandoned paint factory. Drow lay hidden up in the rafters of the factory, carefully monitoring the place for any signs of entry. As the Jedi closest in proximity to the distress signal, Drow was confident that Hal would show. Until then, he'd wait...
