DESCRIPTION​

A primitive weapon in a time of blasters, starships, and duraplast armor, the ancient compound recurve bow still sees use in the galaxy. Manufactured by Czerka as a hunting implement for the odd eccentric and a sporting instrument for the various athletic competitions that still use them, the Czerka recurve bow rarely sees actual combat, and is designed just as much for appearance as function. Composed of several types of wood, horn, and sinew (so as to maintain maximum authenticity for the discerning collector), it is designed to hold up in a number of environments. Even so, the bow still requires regular maintenance if its expected to last, particularly if the user exposes it to varying environments in quick succession.
The weapon is sold with a hip or back quiver, with options for customization for those willing to pay the extra cost. The arrows can vary in size, but are often 80 - 100 cm long. The draw weight for a typical model is 70 - 80 lbs.

LEGALITY​

The bow is legal as a collector's item or as a sporting implement on most worlds. However, on world's with open-carry laws, the recurve bow often counts as a visible weapon and is not permitted.

INTENT​

To create a throwback to a more primitive weapon with its own advantages and disadvantages for those looking to use something with a different style and feel, either by choice or necessity from their story.

I would also prefer a different picture, if you can find one. Something a little less "in your face" high tech. Maybe even a fancy looking recurve bow or something that we can say has some sort of built in compensator or something. This one just doesn't feel very star warsy.

Fixed and fixed. I rewrote it, using my own research on the compound recurve bows used in asia. The ranges seemed to vary a lot from account to account, so I low balled the optimum range and used the maximum range that came with it.

I'm going to approve this on the grounds that it's essentially the same as a cycler rifle, but slower in exchange for being legal. That said, I see the range as being highly impractical, especially for pvp. The likelihood of being able to hit anyone who isn't standing totally still from 100m away or more is very low.
