The republic has an extensive navy, consisting of 2040 capital ships, and 275 corvette-class ships. Each of these capital ships are separated into fleets of 100 (with notable exceptions below), with the corvettes used as support vessels. These can of course be subdivided into taskforces, battlegroups and patrols.

1st fleet - Stationed at Coruscant
2nd fleet - Stationed at Kuat
3rd fleet - The Defence fleet "The Anvil"
4th fleet - Stationed at Corellia
5th fleet - The Supreme Commander's personal fleet
6th fleet - Stationed at Mon Calamari
7th fleet - Reserve fleet
8th fleet - Reserve fleet
9th fleet - Stationed at Fondor
10th fleet - Stationed at Gyndine
11th fleet - Reserve fleet
12th fleet - Reserve fleet
13th fleet - The Assault fleet "The Hammer"
14th fleet - Reserve fleet
15th fleet - Reserve fleet
16th fleet - Reserve fleet
17th fleet - Reserve fleet
18th fleet - Reserve fleet

The planets of Coruscant, Corellia, Kuat, Fondor, Mon Calamari and Gyndine all have fleets permanently based, as they are key planets. As befits their importance, the 1st fleet tasked with guarding Coruscant, and the newly christened 13th Assault Fleet, are twice the size of a standard fleet, consisting of 200 ships. This means of 18 Fleets, the Republic can call upon 12 'free' fleets any any given time.

Of course, the navy cannot be everywhere at once. All major core worlds contain orbital defences, these range from unmanned gun platforms to manned stations to mine fields, or combinations of all three.

Again the core planets have an extra defence. Orbital bombard cannons, relying on magnetic acceleration coils, fire slugs of massive displacement into battle lines of enemy ships, able to rip a hole into a modest sized ship. Of course, these guns are a rarity, and only used if necessary.

HEEEEEEEEY CAILST!

You said we should divy stuff up? Well, Adara, being an upstart new SUP COM and junior outer rim commander and all that, would just like to lay claim to 3 fleets.

The 7th, the 15th, and the 18th. So... those are mine. The other free fleets are under your jurisdiction protecting the majority of Republic space.

I'm in command of the border with the Hutts and those rim territories. At least, as Supreme Commander of the Outer Sphere, that is how I interpreted my duties.

EDIT: Sorry if that sounds bossy. You ok with that? I figure, you have seniority so you get most of it, but as the border-holder, she would have access to a couple of "free" fleets that don't have assignments, so she could plug gaps and do her desperate holding actions.

Then I'm ruling that my defense ships retreat. There's no way they can hold the planet without massive casualties.

They'll pull back and reinforce more loyal planets. Besides, It's a Republic. We don't force people to stay.

They will shoot up the defenses on the way out though. You can RP that if you want, the damage would be minor, since they're heading for the hills so they don't get pounded.

While forcing a planet to stay within the Republic may not the Republic way, simply letting it be used by the Hutts doesn't seem like a winning strategy. Especially since the planet is in the inner rim on a crossroads. Surely, there must be some means of at least harassing the Hutts to prevent them from taking full control.

Maybe, but I don't have the ships for it right now. I shot up the defenses on the way out, so they're messed up. I'm voting we take advantage of their fleets all being out of position at Ando and blow the living crap out of something else.

Also, It would be nice if Jiang actually developed new fleets/ships/weapons/didanythingatall instead of giving them Bothawui, letting them slaughter the senate and then locking that entire board up, and otherwise hamstringing the Republic.

I know you have a zillion factions, but this one could use some love Jiang.

Considering the importance of the OOC in any battle, what if at some point, we did some review of all the OOC battle threads that have occurred over the last two timelines at least and then did some sort of evaluation of them to figure out what a winning strategy might be in the OOC. Maybe even getting a "lawyer" for the Republic?

I wouldn't mind if someone did that. I also am gonna advertise for a mission planner, to examine the maps and come up with a list of possible targets and reasons for each.

Kinda like the lawyer.

Grim? He's definitely interested in working with the Republic Navy which is where we operate. And unlike us, he's been around in the first timeline and has usually been fairly prominent as something. At the moment, I really don't have a lot of time on my hands due to signing up for a whole bunch of things and being in inorganic chem and intro to bio research.

PM him, see if he's interested. I'm busy trying to make some deals to undermine the Hutts.
