Hello all! So I've been FL for a while, and so far I think we have made some progress in certain areas, for which I want to take a moment to praise everyone who has helped contribute to that. We have grown slightly, and i have seen some interesting contributions from others.

Before I get too long winded, there are some concerns that have been expressed to me that I would like to address. It has come to my attention that there is a general perception that:

1) I have decided to restrict the use of Republic NPCs, and personally feel all plot lines need to be run through me.

2) That I am paranoid about the well being of my members, which has caused certain story elements to suffer.

3) The general feeling that the Republic, as it stands, is uninteresting.

Allow me to address some of these concerns, to perhaps shed a bit more light on everything and to hopefully alleviate whatever fears or misnomers there are out there.

1) Regarding NPCs, I would like to refer everyone to the site rules, section VI (or 6), subsection I. It reads:

"I. All NPCs are inferior to PCs. Faction-oriented NPCs cannot be used unless writer is a member of the faction or has explicit permission from the faction leader. A faction leader may decline any members, of their faction or outsiders, from using NPCs."

My official stance is exactly as it is outlined in the above rule. I hold the same authority any faction leader holds over their npc's. The only restrictions I have in place are regarding non-Republic rpers using npc's, which should be run by me. If a Republic player decides they would like to utilize npc elements of the Republic for their own personal stories, I would heartily encourage that honestly. The only time I would ask that it be run by me is if those npc elements are being used in a large scale operation, possibly pertaining to the Sith or otherwise, or if the npc's involved could impact the galaxy as a whole with their actions. But if it is for a personal story arc, I really have no qualms over it. While I always appreciate being notified, Republic Members do not require my approval to use these elements as long as they adhere to what i just requested. As far as rpers outside of the Republic however, I'm afraid they will need to run their ideas by me before any approval can be given. I'm sure @RedneckLoves and @Vosrik have similar restrictions when it comes to their respective faction's npcs.

2) Regarding my alleged paranoia, I must admit I care deeply about each and every rper that is in the Republic. In fact, I love this community! The only manner in which I would admit that I am "paranoid" is when it comes to treating people fairly. From what I've seen in recent pvp threads, Republic/Jedi rpers in my honest opinion have felt unsure of themselves and as a result have not stood up for themselves when they could/probably even should have. That is where I step in. If I feel a member of mine is not being treated fairly, or that they need assistance in representing their point and case, of course I will intervene. A faction leader that wouldn't isn't really a dutiful faction leader, in my opinion. That being said, If anyone feels I am being overtly zealous or unreasonable in my efforts to stand by my members, I am always open to an open and respectful dialogue, either privately via pm's on this site, or over skype. :)

3) Regarding the general feel of the Republic, I honestly have no clue why people outside of the Republic feel there are elements within it that are not interesting. Perhaps it is because we do not have flashing laser swords. I personally stand by the writeups our members have helped with in making the Republic interesting, namely the GAR and the newly crafted "Republic High Command." (For clarification as to what the high command is, it will essentially be replacing the Senate.) This is where I would like to shift focus a bit.

In order for us to move forward, whilst I have my own ideas, I feel it crucial to hear what everyone within the Republic feels and what they would like to see. Unfortunately, we have seen little activity within the Senate/Republic High Command lately, which I take responsibility for. What would you as a Republic member (or prospective Republic member) like to see in the Republic? More engaging story arcs? Tweaking the pre-established faction writups?

I'd like to hear from you. If you'd rather not comment here with your ideas, please let me know either through a pm or via skype.

I hope this newsletter has helped to a degree.

Well we dont have flashy swords so we should make up for it. Much technology, we should overwhelm them with it, compensating for lack of Force and saber-users. Thats my opinion, our military should be better equiped than the other factions as we do not have any other adventage, I personaly feel that i need some sort of tank.

Every other faction does a good job of building community / story for their ranks. So far, GAR has just been a PvP faction without many other opportunities for character development. Since we don't have the Force, I feel like we need to establish a Band of Brothers type connection - have the soldiers rely on each other in their bitter struggle against the Sith.

I like this. Can you perhaps come up with some ideas on how to accomplish this and message them to both me and Krajin? I'd like to take advantage of that. I think lately, we have unfortunately fostered that feel of 'pvp rawr!' due to all the open rps and attacks we've been countering.

Ive got another idea @Fyreleader, we are the only faction that has a goverment per se, the only faction that is not 100% centralized. This is an opportunity for establishing two/three parties that could have their own supporters. Gor example my char could be a supporter of a faction that wants only to fight the Sith, another persons char a pacifist for example could be a supporter of a faction that wants to make peace with the Sith the third one could be a party that is intrested entirely in different matters. That way we establish a conflict in faction and in boring "for the Republic" Star Wars canonical beliefs we establish something more complex and lifelike. That way, our chars can have different opinions and interaction between them would be more intresting. Another thing is, the senators would finally be relevant istead of just derping around they would finally have a purpose to serve instead of beautiful deaths (@jamessour xD i feel your char had one purpose xD). This is an opportunity to have unique interation inside our faction, no other faction has that option. Our faction is basicly made of democracy, which allows us to expand our views on it. In other fsctions if you think differently then otherz youll end up dead (I feel my other char - Flint is about to get shot by his DW comrades xD). We should utilitize this opportunity to really pursue true point of beeing democratic goverment instead of acting like feudal kingdom.

We did have something like that in the previous iteration of the Senate. At the moment, the Republic Central Command has replaced it, but I am not opposed to having some informal coalitions forming. Would that be acceptable?

Well i dont mean spliting the military, i think that beeing a one body but with different views enchances our opportunities for char development. Right now all our chars think about is fight, survive, eat, shit, repeat. I think stating some clear beliefs and letting our chars back the parties programm as their own is a simple and clear way to expand pur role play. I mean Political Parties, like yours Democrats and Republicans :)

I personally think we need more No. 2 Pencils, like we used in the good old days.

The lead in these mechanical pencils is terrible.

Would you mind perhaps typing up a formalized proposal of how that would look like and sending it to me? I'm willing to give it a look over. :)
