But they could only prove she was a smuggler if she was caught with contraband on her ship, right? She's not dumb enough to kidnap a Senator for ransom AND have spice on her ship at the same time. It will make such a difference to the courts when they move for a death sentence after arresting her for kidnapping that she had illicit substances on board too. xD

That's assuming she's caught though. And assuming that small time smugglers are worth more than Republic Senators.
