Very nice =P

Which social programs exactly do they refer to?

And kinda off topic, but is Michele Bachmann as... well, core root Republican as magazines and news articles say?

Medicare, Medicaid, Planned Parenthood, the entire Health Care bill, taking away regulatory power of the FDA over businesses, food stamps, public radio, and a host of other things.

If by Core Roots you mean a christian fundie who cares more about presenting her image as a christian ready to bring the fear of god back into this nation with it's legalized homo marriage and military service, or it's abortion than presenting herself as an objective politically minded being with ideas of how to get us out of this mess we're in and whos husband councils gay people to "pray the gay away" then yeah, she's as core rooted as they come.

To be fair, if any of the republican candidates are elected president, I'm leaving before the nukes start flying.

But especially Santorum and Bachmann.... they're the two that scare me the most.

Ah politics, the sweet aroma of biased, ego driven debates, and scandalous love affairs. It's like junior high, but both sides are shucking real responsibilities.

Just give me a gun and tell me who to shoot. Too bad it's not that simple eh?

Here's something to help ignore the cynicism:

One of those supporting the plan was Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, D-Arizona, who cast her first House vote since being shot in the head in an assassination attempt in January.

In an emotional moment, Giffords entered the chamber during the vote and received a prolonged standing ovation from her colleagues. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi hugged Giffords as other House members mobbed her, and the commotion diverted attention from the ongoing vote total showing the measure would pass.
