OOC: Fel Conspiracy arc

It is said that humanity suffers from seven deadly sins. Pride. Sloth. Lust. Envy. Gluttony. Wrath. Greed. Sith are individuals who embrace the Bogan aspect of the Force, also known as the Dark Side of the Force. Just like anyone else, they hold sin as well. In fact, the Dark Side of the Force is a lullaby, sleeping the restraints of the superego and letting the viceful id out of dormancy. Voices enter the chorus of instinctive transgression. Pride roams the arrogant dance of the Sith, superior and self-worship of blood-tainted hymns. Sloth is a pendelum, swinging from laziness to workaholic obsessiveness; a Sith plays the jazz of the latter in order to gain power and then subsequently encore to keep it. Lust for power is easily understood, with its passionate melody enticing and empowering the Sith. Envy pulls on the strings of spite, motivating oneself to overcome others, to climb over a mountain of corpses. In gluttony the maw consumes the Force, letting it corrupt the body; continue devouring the Force's nutrients the Sith do until they die from overconsumption. Anger is the operatic stereotype of the Dark Side, said to be chorus of all of the Sith's melodies.

Of the sins, the loudest is greed. Greed is a motivator to many. It seeks to improve one's situation, to expand and conquer until everything is theirs. Cliche does not even cover the multitude of Dark Lords hellbent on galactic domination. To do so, they've had to crawl over others, from superiors to inferiors, a trail of blood following them like their shadow. Even if the leader seems best fit for the position, a greedy individual will dethrone that master for their own selfish reasons. So is the tune of the Sith.

Even thousands of refinement to the musical rhymes of the Sith, greed and its compatriot sins continue to play a role in the symphony called life. It has led many Sith to try to take nations for themselves, from Darth Krayt seizing Ashla-sired Fel Empire to Darth Exodeus claiming the New Sith Imperium from his master, Darth Judicar. The latter eventually died by his own student and wife, Andraste. The former failed, with the Fel Dynasty returning to power. However, the Fel Dynasty did not last forever. In 666 ABY, it was replaced by the Elyurius Dynasty, Roan's legacy rechristened the Elyurius Empire.

The name Fel had receded from the spotlight, but not from existence. The Fel name remained, even with the death of Grace Fel. The family would continue on, as a powerful and influential family on Bastion. However, history was not kind. It chipped and weathered away its influence and power. By the time Lucas Fel was born, they were only a minor lord house in the Elyurius Empire, nobility only granted out of respect and tradition, though rumors whispered of revocation by Luthor Elyurius and his son Fayle Elyurius. Lucas Fel was not pleased. He tried to gain up in the ranks, becoming an Imperial Knight. However, by the time he reached masterhood, he was confronted by the Knight-Commander, Iona Peller, and the Emperor's Hound and wife to the prince, Bellatrix La Rouge. He was given a choice: retire or be silenced. The message was clear. The emperor and his Imperial Knights no longer trusted him, as he had grown closer to Bogan over the years, finally close enough to taste it but not gain any of his sinister calories. He was forced to leave his legacy to his two children, Lucius and Lucian. The former joined the military, the latter the Imperial Knights.

However, Lucius and Lucian didn't herald the respect and influence he had hoped, even with Lucius making General. He was alone in the darkness. And in that darkness a shadow formed by offering a light of hope. A woman named Darth Crysis had come to him to recruit him into the new galactic order, a cabal to rip the Elyurius bloodline from its undeserving throne. He agreed, and played part in the Purge, slaying Imperial Knights and Elyurius loyalists as if prancing in a flowerbeds, pools of blood his roses, the screams of pain his nature's call. From there, he obtained true power. Power of the Dark Side. And power in the empire. Though a hag named Darth Aevum, eventually followed by her pet Darth Judicar, claimed emperorship, his newfound status as Sith had given him influence in the Sith-led empire. He could choose who lived and who died. He could command legions, to improve the Sith's dominance. Even though Lucian fled the empire, Lucas obtained prestige through his other son Lucius, who would eventually become Grand General.

Lucas found himself working on intelligence work a lot. He would do covert ops., organize missions that could alter the fate of planets and civilizations. He collected information on friend and foe, using it to write his own part in history, with every one else his pawns. However, greed lulled him still like a siren. He wanted more. He wanted what was rightfully his: the empire.

Taking a Sith-controlled empire wasn't going to be easy. This new Sith Order had regulations to protect the Dark Lord from challenges by just anyone. Challengers had to be Sith Lords and the Dark Lords had smartly prevented his rise to the Dark Council. He would have to be smart too.

Lucas Fel decided to take a page out of Darth Aevum's playbook and form a secret cabal of his own. Secretly donning the name Darth Fel, he decided to create his own Sith sect, which he named the Sith Ascendancy, as it would ascend greater than Aevum's. However, he knew he had to keep them hidden. After the bombing at Coruscant, Fel leaked information to Ancha La Rouge, the bastard daughter of Bellatrix La Rouge about the Sith's involvement in the bombing. In the name of vengeance, Ancha, accompanied by Giedi, Saladsuud, and Zavijava, began to harass the New Sith Imperium. He blamed small operations he and his Sith Ascendancy committed on Ancha's gang.

Over the years, Fel recruited numerous individuals into his cabal, though no where near the amount Darth Aevum enticed. His elite followers he dubbed Sith Lords and knighted them as Darths. Zwilling Schwarz wished to be known as Darth Weiss, to disgrace his former master and killer of his older brother, Lebon. Darth Vier and Darth Sechs were siblings of the late Ein Morgenroete, an Emperor's Hand that had been secretly working to help Fel. In fact, he had been on an assignment to kill Ileana Almara and frame it on Darth Silentius when he was killed by agents of Ashla. Darth Carnaj was like-minded with Darth Fel, seeking power and influence, one his brethren of the same species Darth Vereor held. Others included Darth Menis, Darth Vail, Darth Malis, Darth Savij, Darth Marter, Darth Payne, Darth Fowl, Darth Rath, Darth Praid, Darth Crux, and Darth Rapchir.

While the Dark Lords pushed Fel away from leadership, they were less motivated towards Fel's unknown followers. However, disappointedly, none could reach the Dark Council. Darth Rath appeared to have a shot, until Darth Asmodeus entered the council after blowing up the Coruscant Temple. Rath was furious, but Darth Carnaj had another idea. Fel and Carnaj had recruited a captain months ago, Captain Barrel Antilles of the Aevum. Fel gave information to Darth Vereor, claiming he had unearthed evidence of Ancha La Rouge and Zavijava hiding out in a Galactic Alliance planet near the boarder. He knew the Sith Lord would seek the straightest path, one that would bring him to the Aevum. As predicted, Vereor landed. Antilles was able to sabotage the ship and Vereor was never heard of again, or so they thought.

The plan, they felt, was simple. Eliminate Vereor to make room in the Dark Council. Vereor had built a fiercesome reputation for himself, so Carnaj would us the stereotype invoked by Vereor to win favor for admittance. He even volunteered to lead the investigation into the matter. However, that backfired, as the Dark Lord revoked his title for failure to locate Vereor, either alive or his remains. It seemed like they would need to return to the drawing boards.

While searching for avenues on how to get close to the emperor, Lucas Fel learned that his son Lucius Fel was in the hospital in a coma. It was reported on Sigma Six and other news networks that STROST had tried to assassinate the Mandalore, Corden Vencu, but Lucius had martyred himself to protect the Mandalorian leader. However, Darth Fel was an intelligence officer. He knew that the shooting was a ruse to invoke Mandalorian favor. However, his son wasn't supposed to turn out this way. Investigations into top secret files determined two agents were chiefly involved in Operation Aruetii. One was a blacked out Ubiqtorate agent he never learned the name of. The other was Geist Weiss.

Darth Fel was very tempted to kill Geist Weiss immediately. The alchemist had shown combat was not his forte. After all, Darth Vereor was no longer around to bail him out like he had on Korriban in the past. However, Darth Fel knew the alchemist was paranoid and could escape. He couldn't risk exposing the Sith Ascendancy yet. Instead, when he discovered Lain Derisma infiltrating Grey Temple, he planted some evidence to frame Geist Weiss. During the Vandergruff coup, it had been Fel who had recommended Geist Weiss be contacted for a bomb, hoping to expose the alchemist 'as a fellow conspirator', silencing Vandergruff with execution. While Lain's actions almost got the illusionist killed, Geist had turned the other situation to his benefit, by exposing Vandergruff's plot, earning back some favor.

When Lightell came to power, Darth Fel decided to put his plans on the backburner, curious to see how the non-Sith emperor would last. He was uncertain if he should aim for Dark Lordship or emperorship, or both. Eventually Lightell would be slain, unknowingly by Darth Bhalr. Darth Fel resumed his greedy goal for domination. Since the Dark Council was off limits for him, he decided he would take the usual Sith route, of removing the competition illegally. With the lords inaccessible, he'd try the next best thing: security. Darth Sechs was a most useful agent here. Twice he used Darth Payne's antics to turn people to his cause, but it tended not to be as effective.

Fel prided himself in recruiting two particular individuals. Val Entine was one of the chief of securities for the palace on Bastion. He could get them access no Sith Lord could. He had codes necessary to lock down the place, isolating reinforcements from ever reaching Arcturus Wolfgang. The other was Barrel Annyn. He was an intelligence officer like Fel who monitored all communications on Bastion. He could monitor security and jamn communications when needed, further isolating the Dark Lord for his reaping.

Darth Fel and the Sith Ascendancy didn't account for one thing, unfortunately. The two individuals they had sought to smitten, Darth Vereor and Geist Weiss, had been unraveling their plot. Geist's agents Xotomi and Caden Hec had learned of Aevum Captain Barrel Antilles' involvement in the sabotage that led them to Darth Carnaj. Originally, the two believed it to just be Carnaj's ambitions that constructed the conspiracy, that he had sabotaged Vereor's ship in order to become a Sith Lord. However, after interrogating Darth Sechs, killing a rogue Imperial Guard, and hacking the late Darth Carnaj's computer, more pieces of the intricate puzzle were enlightened. Carnaj wasn't the true head of the cabal. An unknown other was. And still at large. Believing the conspiracy not yet in full ripe, they set course for Bastion to warn Arcturus Wolfgang without tipping off Barrel Annyn and the Sith Ascendancy.

To their luck, they didn't even have to communicate with Barrel Annyn as they approached the planet aboard the Star Destroyer Redemption. Geist fed the officer a tale on how he needed to meet with some military officers to finalize a plan he had for the upcoming invasion of Empress Teta. It held some truth. He had brainstormed ideas on what to do at Empress Teta, such as capturing Empress Cake Es Cade and Prince Cane Es Cade.

Geist and Vereor landed on the planet in a hangar right next to the palace reserved only for the Dark Council and a special privaledged few. Geist was a member of the latter due to holding the title of the Emperor's Hound, even though there was no emperor and his last Hound-related assignment had been for Darth Exodeus. The illusionist turned to face Darth Vereor.

"All seems quiet," said Geist. "The quiet before the storm," he added solemnly.

"Aye... And one that threatenz to shatter the heart of the Imperium."

The minute their shuttle landed on the Warmasters' pad at the Imperial Palace the pair were running down the gangway and heading for the Throne Room, a squad of handpicked commandos following them as they stormed passed a corridor filled with the slumped forms of the Imperial Guard, layed low by some sort of toxin.

"Cravenz... Alright, here iz the plan. Illusionist, take half the squad and enter the hall from the right when you hear this onez signal, Sgt Donnelly take the left. This one will hit their rear from the main entry way and start the slaughter."

Thinking quickly about how he would get into the hall in the first place, the barabel had a stroke of brilliance. The Warmaster drew up his hood and curled his tail up around his waist. With the tail blade hidden and his newest sword sheathed across his back, he looked like Darth Carnaj come to support the coup. Pushing through the door, Vereor quickly observed the scene before him.

Two men, a moff and a Sith Master lay dead on the floor, smoke wafting off of their burnt corpses. At the end of the hall stood Arcturus, his saber flashing as he fought off the advance of three Sith, their blades flicking and spitting as they clashed with the Dark Lord. Directly between himsepf and the Dark Lord's attackers stood a tall Echani Sith, wearing robes of purple and black surrounded by a mob of thuggish looking Crusaders and a pair of Masters Vereor had passing familiarity with. "Ah, Darth Carnaj, so kind of you to join us. We almost thought you were going to miss the show." Darth Thundrus in all her electric glory, lightning crackled within her hands as she gathered more and more energy, preparing to unleash a barrage towards the combatants at the end of the hall. "Here, lend me some of your power, and that will be three less fools to share power with."

The cloaked Barabel let out a low sissing sound, his shoulders shaking. Darth Thundrus huffed and turned away, her hands raised as she prepared to unleash her blast when the sound of a sword rattling out of its sheath made her pause. Her pause turned to dread as the heavy thump of metal hitting stone echoed in the hall, a bladed tail snaking out behind the still sniggering barabel.

There was only one Barabel with a tail-blade in the galaxy.

"It's the Warmast...AAARGH!!!" Her shout of warning was cut short as the Warmaster spun, holding the sword in one hand and using his momentum to slam the sword home at a diagonal cut downward through her shoulder, clear through to her sternum where the sound of blade grinding past bone drew the fighting to a stop. His other hand lashed out, clawed fingers slowly curling into a fist as one of the nearest Acolytes slowly lifted into the air and with a horrible scream followed by a wet popping sound, imploded in on himself in a spray of gore.

"Diabolus... Shall we meet at the center?"

And with those words Vereor exploded into motion, ripping his sword out of Thundrus' body with a wet sucking sound as he whirled through the group of Crusaders and opening two of their bellies, entrails flopping to the ground in a spray of gore amidst cries of agony. The snap-hiss of his lightsaber was lost in the cacophony, but the reptilian Warmaster continued to move through his foes towards the center of the hall and the pair of masters watching Arcturus' melee, metal charged with dark energy and burning plasma singing through the air in a deadly arc that decapitated one man and eviscerated another.

The cries of Demons and death were the only signal Vereor ever used.
