Spoiler: Mission Briefing

We have a parking spot for the ship until we will finish repairs on it. However, we are not the first ones that found it. There is a small pirate base there. By small I mean there is a swarm of space bees that will sting the ever living snot out of anybody that comes into their territory just outside the Lannik system. Take them out so we don't lose our carrier the moment we get it.

General Tycho Draykon was still getting used to his role as one of the leaders of the Alliance when he heard that some assistance to take out a small pirate base. Naturally, the man signed himself up for the task so that he can have a bit of time out in the field. Since the promotion, he has not been spending as much time as he would like taking out people like this group he and Crix are about to be facing.

With his new Bowcaster on his shoulder and his Westar Carbine in his hands, the General also made sure to bring his Quickdraw and Echani Blade as well in case he needed the two extra weapons. On top with the grenades, he had hidden among his armor. Tycho is armed to the teeth and ready to take on the pirates currently hiding in the base.

Turning to look to Crix, his longtime friend and comrade, "Are you ready to get the job done my man?" He will ask. Though he already knew the answer he will be getting. Just like himself the other man who too lived a life of crime is ready for the job.

The one thing that is working against the pirates is not only are they up against a seasoned soldier and a Jedi that is now Jedi Knight. But the two work flawlessly together. They have perfect teamwork. The pirates hiding in the base are screwed big time.

[Crix Dolan (TL8)]

Crix was geared up in his Scout armor. His gunbelt carried his Quickdraw, Renegade Heavy Blaster and Lightsaber, along with a couple of grenades. In a pack on his back, Crix carried a couple of charges. These explosives were made to wreck structural supports and he knew exactly where he was going to hit.

This mission was going to be tough, but with Tycho by his side, the Jedi new he had nothing to worry about. He leaned against one of the arms of his loading ramp and smiled when he saw the general approach. He gave a low appraising whistle and said, "That new rank looks like it comes with some sweet perks."

Crix chucked bobbing his head in agreement as Tycho asked if he were ready. "You know it brother," he retorted with a chuckle.

The duo set off for the base and when they arrived it was a little more ominous than he'd hoped. Luckily, they'd been given a map with an entrance that was supposedly unguarded. As they arrived, Crix held out a hand and quickly hit the dirt. Their entrance was locked down hard. Eleven pirates had taken up position outside the "Secret" entrance. The Jedi swore under his breath and looked to his partner.

"Well, what's the move boss?" He asked, hoping the general had a better plan of action.

[Tycho Draykon]

Tycho shrugged, "You sure? I had to arm wrestle a Wookie for the bowcaster." He said jokingly. Being promoted didn't feel any different. He can still go out into the field to do missions, he just has more responsibility on his shoulders now. The criminal smirked as he was told he is ready, "Alright. Brother. Let's get to work shall we?" He will say as he started looking at what they had to deal with right now.

The General too will hit the dirt as the view of the heavily guarded entrance came into view. He will calmly observe the situation at hand as he thought through possible tactics. Well, he certainly can try to set up some sort of distraction to draw some guards away.

He looked to Crix, "Let's try to set up a distraction to draw some of the guards away." He will suggest as he got one of his frag grenades out. Looking around he will notice a huge rocky hill he can easily toss a grenade to. Quickly and quietly he moved over to the hill, once at the base he armed the explosive and tossed it as hard as he could. He will then make his way back over to his partner.

As soon as he reached Crix an explosion shook the ground slightly as the grenade Tycho planted went off. The guards protecting the entrance looked shaken up as they tried to figure out what went on. The one who appeared to be the one in command started shouting orders. Four went off to investigate while the remaining eight started to scramble to get organized. The distraction didn't produce the results the General was hoping for it did leave a bit less guards to deal with.

"Well. Don't have as many to deal with." Tycho noted as he got his rifle ready for the next part, "Try to take out the one that appears to be in charge. Take him out and they won't be able to get organized." He told Crix. Though the other man was most likely thinking the same thing.

[Crix Dolan (TL8)]

Crix nodded as Tycho spelled out his plan. The Smuggler liked what he was hearing and prepared to execute. The general's frag definitely got their attention, but it became clear they had a competent leader when only a squad broke off to check it out. Crix considered lobbing his own frag to take out the squad but decided to try and take out the pirate in command.

The enemy in question was a grizzled Duro with deep indigo skin and keen golden eyes. He'd been the one to order the squad to scout the disturbance. The landscape before them had space cover and once they crossed over the dune they'd hidden behind it'd be a mad dash for a couple of overturned speeders off to the left, or the broken wing of a starfighter off to the left. Crix decided on the wing, but as he pushed himself up he was spotted. With a single gesture the Duro singled out Crix and the remaining guards focused the Jedi.

Crix screamed like a mad man and sprinted for the wing. Halfway there he was forced to unleash his lightsaber to stop from being gunned down. He got off balance as the sand shifted under his feet and it threw off his defense earning him a fresh blaster burn up his right arm. He grunted as his seared flesh cut a sizzling trail across his arm. His lightsaber slipped out of his momentary slack grasp and he let go of the power button. His pale blade evaporated and tumbled into the dirt as he stumbled to the ground. The Jedi lunged at the last second tucking into an overhead roll that carried him back up to his feet as he crashed into the wing.

His chest heaved as his life finished replaying in his mind and he scrabbled up to his hands and knees, disoriented and frantically searching for his lightsaber. This was really bad.

Tycho had looked away from Crix for a minute or two evaluating the situation some more. He didn't know that the younger man had left his side to pull off an attack on the remaining guards until he heard him scream. Looking in the direction of the scream he saw the Jedi fall as the sand gave way, causing him not only to fall but to also get injured. He couldn't see how bad the injury is from his current position. But from how the Jedi is not acting like himself at all the General figured he better get over there.

Taking a criminal got the lead guard in his sights then pulled off a single shot that slammed into the man's skull. With the remaining guards going into a panic. Tycho ran across towards the panicking Jedi. He will take out another two guards along the way.

Once he reached Crix he ducked down low, "Calm down, Crix. I will cover you. But I need you to calm down. I don't want to see my brother getting killed because he lost control of himself." While his words may come across as brutal there is truth to them. He hoped it will snap Crix out of his panicked frenzy and calm down before he gets himself killed. Crix is the last person he wants to see get killed. Well, one of the two people he doesn't want to see get killed.

Crix's arm burned and he sucked in a breath as he glanced down at the wound. He was fine his momentary freak out had passed and he collected himself as Tycho closed in. The general took out three guards and made it to Crix's side. The Jedi didn't argue, with the general and quickly got ahold of his emotions. He wasn't exactly sure what had prompted that little escapade, and he hoped he wasn't going crazy.

"I'm good, thanks Tycho," said the Jedi as he pulled his Renegade heavy blaster. He scanned his recent trajectory and spotted his lightsaber. Before he could reach out to it blaster fire slammed into the wing they were hiding behind forcing him to forget the weapon for the time being.

Crix popped out of cover and returned three shots, killing one pirate. Their enemy was still tightly coordinated and his attack resulted in return fire almost immediately. As he dipped back down under cover he saw the Duro giving orders to a pirate and relayed what he'd seen to Tycho.

"I think they're going to try and hit our flank."

At that moment he decided he was going to take a vacation when he got off this mission. Yep, he was going to shut off his com's and head to Zeltros or something and just drink and play card games until the alliance found him and forced him back. His usual wry smile reappeared at the thought and Crix felt a calm fall over him. He was back to normal and prepared to finish this mission.

Tycho looked to Crix as the Jedi reported what he had seen. The pirates trying to outflank them? Not on his watch, "We will see about that." The General will say as he stepped out from their source of cover, and saw that indeed that was what is happening as he saw a single pirate moving towards the two rebels. Aiming his rifle the criminal put three bolts into the advancing pirate.

With that one taken care of Tycho turned his attention to the final two pirates guarding the entrance. Like with the one that was advancing Tycho took out the remaining two guards.

Looking to Crix he gestured to the base, "And now we are clear to walk in. Shall we?" He asked then led the way towards the base. While the man is relaxed, his guard was up. Besides the four guards still, haven't returned. Maybe they took a wrong turn at a boulder to their right or something. Stopping at the base entrance the general moved to his left to do a quick scan of the area, "I think those four guards took a wrong turn somewhere." He said with a small chuckle then signaled that the two should start moving into the base now that it is confirmed that the area is clear. Time to give the pirates hiding inside the base some hell.

By the end of the encounter Crix had reclaimed control on himself, he was back to the pragmatic smuggler and not some wild crazy person. He spotted his bylark lightsaber and called it to him. The weapon somersaulted through the air and into his palm. He clipped it to his belt and jogged toward the entrance. The pirate base was rather modest compared to some of the hives he'd been in recently, but that didn't mean it'd be easy to take down.

Their first objective was the hangar. These pirates would house most if not all of their ships in this area and blowing it to kingdom come would be imperative to stop them from assaulting the alliances mining vessel during its maintenance. Crix stepped up the body of the blue Duro and paid respects to the fallen pirate. He'd been a competent leader and a formidable enemy. The Jedi knelt down and quickly found both the man's com and his security fob.

Crix moved to the main entrance and swiped the fob which in turn unclocked the doors with a soft click. Using the access panel he opened the door and smiled as they were greeted with an empty hallway. The duo stealthily moved through the corridor toward the hangar which was very close to their entry point. Crix came to a stop at the end of the hallways and carefully peeked around the corner. The entryway to the hanger was clear.

The Jedi rounded the corner and jogged into the large open room scanning the area for enemies while also searching for an appropriate location to set his charges. Crix found a couple of prime locations and went to work. A few minutes later he was finished and looked to Tycho, "All set, you ready to move on?"

Tycho was a bit surprised to find the hallway to be empty. With the commotion that was going on outside one would think that soldiers would be put in place to prevent him and Crix from progressing into the base. Unless the two got lucky by coming here while the majority of the pirates were off doing some sort of job.

Well, either way, the two will still stealthily proceed towards the hanger. While there may be no guards present doesn't mean they should just relax. There is still the possibility of being jumped if they make a wrong step. The General followed Crix into the hanger, proceeding to watch their surrounding very carefully as the Jedi got to work at setting a couple of charges. When that part of the job was done he looked to his friend, "Yup. I am ready. There should only be two major rooms left. Lets split up to rig the other two rooms then blow this place to kingdom come." He will suggest before heading out of the hanger. It was completely up to Crix if he was going to agree with the plan. But either way, the General was going to get moving as he made his way to the control room.

Opening the doors to the room he was greeted with blaster fire. Since he was standing to the side of the doorway the man was completely unharmed. Cautiously he peeked around the doorframe quickly counting four in the room before ducking again as the four pirates shot at him. Taking a deep breath the General waited for the blaster fire to cease. When it did the man jumped out of his cover and poured bolts into the four men.

With them taken care of the General got to work at placing his charges then stepped out to meet up with Crix.

Opposition and Attack Rolls

Crix and Tycho split up in order to cover more ground. Crix veered northeast and made for a load-bearing pillar. It was a short jog from their current location and after a couple of minutes, he was taking cover just around the corner from the entrance. The Jedi could sense two beings around the corner. They were bored and passing the time with idle chitchat. He took a breath and rushed around the corner.

The first guard sucked air in surprise and then caught a fist to the gut. The second reacted with a lifted blaster, Crix lifted the doubled over pirate just as the second guard pulled the trigger. The blaster bolts slammed into the first guard and the second dropped his weapon in shock. The gun went off and grazed Crix's leg, a feral grunt tore from his throat and he shoved the dead pirate to the side.

The second his companion fell the second pirate snapped back to reality. He lunged forward and tackled Crix into the wall behind them. The air was pushed out of his lungs and he drove two swift elbows into the guards back and head, but they were glancing blows. The enraged being shoved off him and threw two punches into the Jedi's torso. Crix felt his knees go weak, but somehow he stayed up. He got his hands up and was able to slip a jab giving him an opportunity. The Jedi won a straight punch to the pirates left eye, and followed up with a front kick to the man's chest.

The pirate took the second blow squarely to the solar plex and he stumbled backward. Crix closed in guard up, the flash of a viborknife caught his eye just in time to dodge a stab and sidestep a swipe. His opponent's eyes were wild with rage and anguish. Every attack was to kill and if Crix wasn't careful he'd end up on the wrong side of that knife. The Pirate feinted with the knife, then swung with his left. Crix deflected the punch and swung with his right, but only hit air.

The pirate capitalized and sought to cut the Jedi in two. Crix was able to get a hand on his attacker's wrist and tried to control the man's arm. The Pirate didn't waste any time in punishing the Jedi for trying to restrain him. Two hard hammer fist's pounded the side of Crix's face. The Jedi kept his hold on the arm with the knife and as the pirate attempted to keep hammering blows home Crix called to the force. The Pirate's hand froze in mid-air. A frown formed on his face as he looked at his arm stuck in the air. The Jedi caught the pirate slack-jawed and separated the being from their senses.

The pirate collapsed unconscious. The knife clattered to the floor and Crix breathed a sigh of relief. His face and leg hurt like hell, but he'd managed to take out both guards. He entered the room and limped to the pillar. He placed his charges and then rushed to meet up with Tycho. As he exited the room the com he'd taken from the Duro went off.

"Boss, there's nothing here. We've swept the area three times." Crix swore and redoubled his efforts.

He met Tycho and held up the com, "We're gonna have company, unless you can convince them to keep looking."

Tycho looked to Crix, concern written all over his face as he watched his brother limp over to him. The General looked to the com. At first, he hesitated about trying to trick the guards to keep searching instead of making their way back to the base. There is no telling if they will even fall for what the man tells them. But after a very short debate, the man took the com, "I will see what I can do." He will tell Crix with a small grin. Which turned serious as he looked at the gadget in his hand, "No keep looking. We have killed a couple of them in the base. From the looks of it, this is not all of them. Expand your search area. There had to be others somewhere. Search the caves to the east. If they are hiding anywhere that is where they will be hiding." The General told the person on the other side.

The criminal forced himself not to laugh as the person on the other end replied. Obviously falling for what Tycho told him, "You got it boss! We'll expand our search towards the caves." The line will then go dead.

Then Tycho will laugh a bit, "That worked better than I thought." The man pocketed the com then took Crix's arm and hooked it around his shoulder to help the man move as he then led the way out of the base. With the charges set and the four remaining guards tricked into expanding their search towards the caves, there was no longer going to be no need for the two rebels to stick around for much longer. Not with what the two of them have planned. As soon as the two men were a safe distance away the General fished the control out of his pocket then pressed the button.

With that done Tycho set to help Crix to the ship, "Alright brother. Let's get you back to the Valhala and get you fixed up." The man will say, "I don't know about you. But I can use a drink."
