Rex Andarre
"Okay, so two jawas walk into a cantina, right? And they run into this service droid, and the service droid says--Oh. Oh wait, I'm telling it wrong. Okay, it's three jawas. Three jawas walk into a service droid. Wait. No. Let me try that again. See, there's this cantina, right?---"
-Rex Andarre "The Cantina Joke

FULL NAME: Rex Andarre (The Unlucky One)
SPECIES: Human
GENDER: Male
AGE: 28
ORIGIN PLANET: Telos IV
FORCE SENSITIVE: No.
APPEARANCE:
Rex is a toned, tall and Caucasian human, standing just under 6ft tall. He has an untidy nest of rust-colored hair and the scruffy chin to match. Despite having an athletic build, his hazel eyes and innocent, playful smile gives off an impression of naivety and youth. On the back of his hand is the Durosian character for “thief,” scarred into his skin. This branding was given to him at the age of 11, after a Duros cantina owner found him lifting food from the kitchen.

ATTRIBUTES:
Unfortunately, Rex Andarre suffers from what would seem like incredibly bad luck, leading to accidental falls, trips, foot-in-mouth-moments, and the occasional broken rib. These “Clumsy and unfortunate” instances seem like death-sentences in the moment but often somehow work for the benefit of him and his friends.
What he lacks in smoothness he makes up for in his skill with a blaster and prowess with technology (namely ship repair). Great in a cross-fire fight. At certain tables inside the Entertainment District, there are hard-to-believe stories of The Unlucky One (Rex) quickly and coldly taking down four armed Gammoreans when they refused to make good on their wagers.

Strength 6/10
Charisma 5/10
Dexterity 9/10 behind a blaster or helm 4/10 everywhere else
Stamina 5/10

PERSONALITY
Rex, with his friendly demeanor and lighthearted attitude, often plays well with others and is loyal to the extreme. He’d go to any length for his friends, even if his bumbling, chaotic approach may do more harm than good. Because of his personality, The Unlucky One is usually seen as a non-threat and an easy target—meaning that his attachment and need for companions is just as much for him as it is for them. Rex’s attitude toward his enemies is polar opposite from is usual demeanor--usually unemotional and cold, dealing with them brutally and swiftly. The few that have witnessed this say it’s a personality shift they’d rather not see again soon.
In no sense is Rex Andarre an idealist. To him, morality is a very grey subject, and he usually chooses to do what benefits him and his party the most, regardless of the consequences. He’s unafraid of a showdown, but never in a rush to risk his skin. If he can get the job done without ducking blaster fire, he’s a happy man.
Rex has a painful weak-spot for women—especially twiilek women—and can often be found shamelessly hitting on any female that stumbles into the Outer Rim. Occasionally a fun-loving girl will find the nervous, sloppy banter cute and think he’s charming. Most just find it irritating. A simple slap across the face or pummel to the stomach is enough to correct this behavioral issue, ensuring his respect.

BIOGRAPHY
latest

Anto and Calriaa Andarre were both wrongfully imprisoned and sentenced by the Republic as Sith conspirators. This left their son, Rex Andarre, orphaned at 8 years old. Rex was adopted by Anto and Clariaa’s friend, an Ithorian trader, Maza Dato.
This is the story of Rex’s parents, as told by Maza, the Ithorian:

(in ithorian)

“Telos IV has been a part of the Jedi way for hundreds and hundreds of years. Jedi who fail their training are sent here to work the fields and serve the Republic—not as knights—but as laborers in the Agricultural Corps, harvesting and communing with the Force in the way it binds this world together.”

Wide-eyed with excitement, 10-year-old Rex shot up from the floor, shouting, “MY PARENTS WERE JEDI?!”

Maza Dato sighed and shook his long, curved neck, “No, child. Your parents were harvesters as well, immigrants from Taris who had escaped a great debt to a Hutt crime lord.”

“Oh.” The smile melted from Rex’s face into a deep frown. He sat back on the tile and crossed his legs, resting his chin on one fist. Sardonically, the boy said, “Please, go on.”

“Ahem. Well, while your parents worked alongside the failed Jedi, great tension was brewing on Telos—a scare. Strategically, Telos is of great importance to the Republic and many believed that the Sith would make an attempt to seize the planet, loosening the Republic’s grip on the Outer Rim. Accusations were made and tensions grew, until finally a civil commander here in the city moved to arrest a young force user by the name of Jogao Port, under the allegation that he was a Sith spy… Your parents fought to protect him. They too were arrested and killed. Of course now, we know it was what you’d call a ‘witch-hunt.’ The civil commander himself was punished and re-stationed offworld.”

The Ithorian Guardian moved to a storage unit near the back of his wares shop and pulled out a small bundle, wrapped in a heavy, crimson cloth.

“Your parents and Jogao Port, the failed jedi were both wrongfully sentenced to death. Afterwards, Jagao’s companions went through his belongings and found this. It was Jagao’s dream to become a jedi. It is against their custom, but I believe Jagao kept this contraband as a reminder of his dream—and of hope. His friends believed that it should be given to the child of those that died to protect him. This is now yours.”

Rex Andarre took the bundle carefully into his hands. It was heavy--almost hard for a 10-year-old to hold comfortably in one hand… He unwrapped the crimson cloth away to reveal the hilt of a lightsaber. It was marked by what looked like carbon-scoring and the panel was cracked enough that Rex could tell there was no crystal inside. Rex looked up at his Ithorian guardian and said, “It’s broken.”

Laughing, Maza Dato said, “Of course! What, I would give a working light saber to a child?! You’d slice your own knee caps off!” Maza Dato thew back is great leather head, and Rex could see both mouths laughing down at him. “You have chores to complete, child. Or would you rather I took that lightsaber back—“ playfully, Mazo reached as if to reclaim the broken weapon, but Rex Andarre pocketed it quickly and ran out to retell the tale (with a little more embellishment) to the other children among the pathways in the Wares District of Telos IV.

Since then, Rex has grown. He’s lived day-today, credit to credit, working as a gun for unsavory, underhanded arms dealers in the Entertainment District, even spending 3 years in “collections” retrieving payment for an underground gambling seen in the Quar-kaak Cantina. Only recently, Maza Dato, his Ithorian guardian died. Rex sold the wares shop to a Durosian. Now he’s only a about 10 or 12 thousand credits away from buying his own ship. Leaving Telos IV on a convoy ship with more credits than he's ever had before, Rex Andarre is looking for opportunity, for adventure, for companions, for women…

And for trouble.

REX ANDARRE - THE STORY SO FAR
Edit: Rex has become the traveling companion and pilot to Jade, after she saved his life in Help Me!.

SKILLS: Great with a blaster—both rifle and pistol. Decent at ship repair. Knack for finding the underbelly of wherever he’s at, making it easy to find what shouldn’t be looked for. Speaks Galactic Basic Standard, Jawaese Trade, and Ithorian. Exceptional ship and droid repair. Extremely clumsy, extremely lucky (despite the name.)

GEAR:
Weapons: Only unusual weaponry is the broken lightsaber hilt he keeps with him at all times, purely sentimental (see biography). Normally, Rex carries a 434Deathhammer blaster pistol.

SHIP: THE SWIFT
Rex finally obtained his Ship in Help Me! from Jedi Knight, Jade the Protector.
Model: Consular Class Space Cruiser

Great first character. Complex personality, but still plenty of room for RP development. Looking forward to seeing him in action!

Wow! Thank you so much!
I would recommend removing the "- First Char - feel free to advise" from the title and just leave it as his name, people will see that you are new and will be sure to post their thoughts. You can also choose his indie tag by clicking the "thread tools" button in the far right corner.

No worries! Will he be joining an indie faction or just being... indie indie? XD
I actually just submitted my character to the Exchange, thinking that Rex would be down for any low-level henchmen work that got him the quickest buck. They asked me to edit my rank request. I did that, and now I'm waiting for the reply with bated breath lol

Ahh great! I'm sure you'll be fine, faction application usually isn't an issue. Good luck and have fun.

I hang out with the Sith mostly, but who knows, we may cross paths!
