Not for the first time, Moarae's caravan had stopped by Eufornis Major. The prosperous metropolis had been for the last century a beacon of sophistication and freedom in the Core Worlds. The planet's economy had been galvanized by modern scientific developments facilitating the extraction of a valuable combustible from the depths of the gas giant planet. As a result, many luxurious hotels had recently been erected on the surface of the station and it was in the lobby of one such hotel that Moarae was conducting her business for the time being.
The Vahla had initially been worried that she would be tossed out for disturbing paying customers, but she soon realized that as long as she dressed the part no hotel personnel would come to bother her. She had adorned her finest garments: a large sheet of scarlet fabric that draped her from shoulders to toes in the latest New Alderaanian fashion. While this might not have been the most flattering for her silhouette, at least she didn't risk been mistaken for a more disreputable kind of solicitor.
Nonchalantly shuffling the cards in her hands feeling their energy rippling against hers, Moarae rested against a column near the foyer. She scrutinized the passerby hoping that one would catch her eye.
She always knew how to identify prospective clients: the lost, the broken, and the disheartened were particularly drawn to her like so many misaligned satellites gravitating around a star. Of course, there were always the odd ones out; the bold and the successful who found themselves in need of guidance or perhaps just sought diversion from the bustling of their everyday life. Somehow, these always ended the most interesting readings for the cards could not reflect what wasn't already part of the self.
Gazing through the glazed curtain wall that served as the front of the opulent building, Moarae considered heading back to her ship for the night. Her gaze lingered at the myriad of clouds above, lost in the rhythmic dance of ephemeral waves coalescing into one another, her face aglow with the last orange rays before twilight beckons the sky.
