Hey guys! This is the intro to our Mercenary Alliance and I'm really excited to do this plot with you all :3 Feel free to sign up for what missions you want to join. It'll probably be two to three people each. I'll put three, but we can go with just two as well. The rules for dice below the signups are optional, but make for a fun divergence from the normal dice rolling we've been using. I can happily explain how it works as needed, or you can get a DM or use regular dice rolling for your threads as needed. Let's get this show on the road :3

Please post the thread number youre interested in and @yoursub

1. Show me the Muuns
Despite the moderate funds Chris has, he knows he needs more funding for future operations than what he has. He tasks three members of his Alliance to go secure funding from the Muuns and the Banking Clan on Scipio. This will be a mainly diplomatic mission.

3.

2. From the Ashes of House Harlow
After the assassination of Albrecht Harlow, Chris offers to his grand-uncle Cidney to take some non-combat and academic members of the House who hadn't left the city yet to safety, which in exchange some of those teachers would help instruct officers for the Alliance. As they prepare to leave the planet Chris and another have to fend off an attack by opportunistic independent parties trying to curry favor by killing anyone from House Harlow.

1. @Christopher Harlow
2. @Sleegath
3. @Tak Solari

Participants:

2. @Eice Frex

5. Staffing Solutions
Chris goes to recruit some personnel on Ord Mantell to join the Alliance's crew, needing all sorts of crew still for the upcoming acquisition. One of these potential members being the brother to Cregan Doldan, thought lost in the Unknown Regions long ago, the two must successfully pitch the benefits of joining to acquire the crew they need for their ship.

6. Hyperion
Chris goes to the Order of Hyperion's base on Vrogas Vas to convince them, as the son of their Founder, to help fund their growing company and to use the refueling station as a base. A diplomatic thread, they must convince the leader of the Order to allow their mining operation to help out.

Participants:
1. @Christopher Harlow
2. @Allard Keever

Optional Dice Roll System
But, no matter which thread we're in, or what we're up against, this is how all accompanying dice rolls shall function:
  1. Each player shall produce a "Skill Table" below that accurately represents their character's skillset. The skill categories shall be as follows: Superb (+5), Great (+4), Good (+3), Fair (+2), Average (+1).
    • Players can have one Superb skill, two Great, three Good, four Fair, and five Average.
  2. Rolls shall be conducted with three (3) six-sided dice. Roll numbers determine whether or not a plus or minus can be added to the numbers in each category. A roll of 1-2 means nothing is added. A roll of 3-4 means that +1 is added. A roll of 5-6 means that a -1 is added.
  3. After rolling and math are done, the total number indicates how successful an action is. The higher the number, the better the character does. Below is a table that shows how to determine success:

Success Ladder
+8Legendary
+7Epic
+6Fantastic
+5Superb
+4Great
+3Good
+2Fair
+1Average
+0Mediocre
-1Poor
-2Terrible

Combat System
Combat works differently in this dice-roll mode than in traditional PvP. Each player must declare an action, from among their skill set, then pit it up against the NPC to determine success and/or damage. Below is how damage is to be calculated:
  • The NPC does not have a skill table. Instead, all of its attacks are considered Great (+4).
  • Each time a player rolls to attack with their own character, they must also do an equal number of roles for the NPC. After totals are calculated:
    1. If the NPC's total is less than the PC's total, a Wound is applied to the NPC.
    2. However, if the NPC's total more than the PC's total, a Wound is applied to the PC.
    3. In the event of a tie, no damage is taken and both actions are canceled out in the RP.
    4. The greater the difference in results between NPC and PC, the greater the number of wounds caused. A difference of 1 to 2 causes 1 Wound, a difference of 3 to 4 causes 2 Wounds, and so on as the difference escalates.
  • When both PCs receive their total number of Wounds they fail. However, if the NPC reaches its full number of wounds, the PCs are victorious.

Use the following template to make a character sheet, you can keep them here to reference in the threads you are in. The skills you put here should coincide with the skills your character would know on their approved Character Bios. You can use skills like from D&D or KOTOR here, but if you want to use something more unique please contact me first to make sure it would work out.

Superb (+5): -Skill-

Great (+4): -Skill-, -Skill-

Good (+3): -Skill-, -Skill-, -Skill-

Fair (+2): -Skill-, -Skill-, -Skill-, -Skill-

Average (+1): -Skill-, -Skill-, -Skill-, -Skill-, -Skill-

Note: Anything specific about your character that should be known goes here[/fancybox3][/abox3]

The 'Wounds' that a thread's opposition has will be determined by the average level of the participants, rounded up. Not every opponent will be an actual person, some will be a situation such as a diplomatic mission. The same rolls will apply, you will just have to get creative with how your chosen skill works to get you towards the goal you want. If you have any questions at all, please reach out to me and I can answer them. Have fun!
