Status report complete....
Sensors: Photoreceptor functional | Infrared functional | Rangefinder damaged | Audio receptors functional
Equipment: Spotlight damaged | Comlink functional | Reader socket damaged | I/O Socket functional
Physical Assessment: Locomotion functional | Chassis damaged | Right Arm destoryed
Rebooting system....

Functions had been restored and the Security droids optical sensors were initiated. After completing its damage report it struggled to stand as its bent chassis redistributed its standard weight. It adjusted its motivators and realigned itself to suit its damaged status. It evaluated the surrounding situation, determining that it had failed in its apprehension of the suspects. YD-313 activated its comlink and sent out a broad transmission that could be picked up by authorities, both local and sector, distressing the situation at hand. From what it could observe there were several destroyed security units and a few organics that had been injured, though none displayed the signs of ceased function. As per its protocols it sent out a report to medical teams to ensure a prompt arrival of aid to those in need. YD looked at its right arm which had been destroyed and its chassis had been bent due to several impacts during the confrontation with the criminals. Its only regret, if droids could express such an emotion, was that it had failed to identify the culprits. Further more it had failed to distract them long enough for back up to arrive.

The bank in which the damage droid occupied was in disarray as employees ran out in panic, with a few alien clerks displaying signs of mild torture and bruising around their necks. If the droid was ever probed to unveil the situation which unfolded within the duracrete walls, it would be unable to comply. It was unaware of the nature of the Force and thus unable to explain what occurred. Once it stood erect it began to slowly move towards the front door where local authorities were arriving, holstering its gun as to not alert those entering the fray. While traveling its vocal programming switched its once imposing voice to a more subtle and calm audio, telling those who failed to exit the building "Please evacuate the building. Authorities have arrived and will process you in due form. Exit in an orderly fashion. Your cooperation is appreciated." The sparks of energy which spat from its right shoulder joint caused it to jerk slightly as it paced out the building.

Outside the bank, the police officer stood still while his hands appeared to be moving every which way; pointing toward a subordinate to help out at the barricade and keep the audience behind it, waving over a medic who entered the building behind him, and holding his hand up to the Ranger who had tried to.

“Stop right there, big guy!” The cop had a reason to look up at his guest as he addressed him with little time and patience. “Nobody gets in without ID. Now show me yours or kiss the concrete.” He gave out a little cough just then, cigarette smoke blown subtly enough to where it accidentally got in his face.

“Fair enough,” the big guy complied. He kept his cigarette between his lips while he opened one side of his black leather duster to reveal an unmistakable badge. The cop blinked at it, unimpressed, so another hand came out with an ID card.

The cop studied it for a moment before handing it back with a forced frown. “Nice smile.”

“It helps with PR.” Zad shrugged, looking between the bouncer and the building.

“All right, head on in, Mr. Sector Ranger. After all, no reason this crime scene shouldn’t now have a flesh and bones version of you, right?”

Zad dismissed the comment and the cop as he strolled into the bank, almost getting knocked over by scrambling suits, one of the panicked employees a Twi’lek whose lekku nearly slapped the Ranger across the face. Inside, the first thing he spotted was the metal and wires version of himself. YD-313 was the first of their trade to arrive at the scene, having done so when the crime was still kicking off, and the Ranger droid's transmission had been picked up and leapt upon not long after.

“Howdy,” Zad greeted the droid as he stepped closer, exhaling smoke toward the ceiling, though he reckoned that his colleague would not have coughed over it. “Name’s Zad, Zad Ruzed.” He opened his coat for that badge again. He didn’t think he’d need the ID. “Got your call while I was flying sector.” Amid wisps of silvery grey that danced in a haze, Zad’s gaze drifted around the room, eying up and down the fallen security droids, the overturned furniture, the corners and the cameras.

“So,” he looked back at 313 whose entire head was like one big camera. Metal and wires. Flesh and bone. Beer and whiskey. “What do we got?” Zad had surely been briefed on the basics on the way over but something felt very off about not asking the winning question. Apart from being big and bad, a Ranger had to play the part too.

The Class 4 Security Droid scanned the badge which was presented, confirming that the humanoid before it was indeed a Sector Ranger. Its programming kicked in, YD-313 standing at full attention (or as close as it could with its damaged frame and components) as its artificial voice crackled in response "This units designation code is YD-313, appointment of secondary Ranger. Your response is appreciated, though this unit failed in its detainment protocol." The droids ocular sensor stared blankly at the newly arranged Sector Ranger, one that stood a full head taller than its own stature. YD observed his dark skin tone and the casual demeanor he exerted in the roles official capacity, though made no comment.

Its head rotated in a 360 degree axis, noting the damaged infrastructure and the destruction of the locally based security droids, a fate it could have very well shared. In all accounts it was lucky it was still operational but any emotion relating to ones death or ceased functions was absent in its programming. YD dug into its archives, retrieving the files stored in its databank relating to the robbery of said bank, and the series of events which led it to this moment. Once again the droid addressed its colleague "This unit was contacted via the buildings security alarm. Per my programming I responded to the distress-" a port opened on its chassis and the droid proceeded to plug a handheld holoprojection in its socket, information flowing from its memory core to the device. A blue hologram popped up in the droids perspective, showing the unit entering the building to find it in disarray "This unit arrived at the scene while the heist was underway, and from the data collected it was concluded that the culprits arrived much earlier than I. After inspecting the building and advising all organics to remain calm. Sensors indicated blaster fire further in the building at which point my response requirements were activated."

The Droid Ranger proceeded to show Zad how the scene unfolded, the holoprojector showing the unit progress into the center of the building. It was there he encountered the first culprit, a masked being holding one of the workers against their will. The projection also showed YD-313 alerting the intruders of his presence while citing the necessary script describing the reason for their arrest only after a duo of stun bolts was ejaculated from his blaster. What occurred next was an anomaly on the droids account as the masked culprit extended his hand out, seemingly pulling the hostage alien towards his grasp as a meat shield. The transmission halted and YD once again fixed its ocular sensor on the larger Ranger "This unit must be experiencing malfunctions. The account given by the projection cannot compute, yet diagnostics indicate systems are functional."

For some reason, and he could not quite pinpoint why, but watching a head of flesh or metal or otherwise turn full circle always brought a quiver to his lips. This was only enhanced by the droid’s destroyed right arm and its generally damaged persona. Creepy… It was a simple, passing thought. He had had his fair share of dealings with droids over the years, enough to squash prejudice (you didn’t need to have flesh to shake a hand or cut it off), but sometimes there was just a very clear separation between bone and iron.

The living Ranger listened more intently than he might have given off, holding his cigarette as he studied the droid’s hologram like it was a film out of fiction. He saw the Ranger droid engage the masked robber with live fire and witnessed the former’s restraint when it came to pulling the trigger. Checking with Command first… Okay, so the wire’s live and functional. That’s always good. Mask used the clerk’s body in the line of fire; 313 called for backup; a third assailant plugged the droid’s shoulder, leading to its right arm being what it was.

Zad’s eyes wandered as he took a deep drag from his cigarette, like it was a guide in its very own right. By the time he breathed out, he saw bits and pieces of the crime scene that did not show up on the Ranger droid’s display. Yet between it, authority reports and the evidence around, the whole picture was becoming clearer and clearer. Zad blinked away from his metallic companion, turning himself around the room, if not turning the room around himself.

Eiattu Treasury Banking had been hit by a small offense. Internal security systems were disabled. The bystanders hid instead of escaped, indicating that they were too afraid to attempt the latter, despite the limited attackers. Alarms were tripped, and with the timing of Zad's own arrival the robbers had apparently been faster than the law’s response. The motionless security droids around had been given a blade through their wires or otherwise enough pressure to render them motionless. Heck, one took a bolt to the head. Further, though Zad had not yet seen the vault door with his own eye, the local police had briefed him of how absent it was. The speed. The skill. The show from the droid’s own display. It was all too clear that 313 was not experiencing malfunctions. He just doesn’t know how to comprehend what he saw.

“You’re functional, all right,” Zad smiled in reassurance. “So is this bank, its surveillance and every one of its security systems.” Sighing, he dropped his cigarette to the floor and twisted its dying light out with a boot as a Sith might to any given living being. “You got thrashed by Force-users, Three-One-Three. It happens. And I don’t know much about the Force but I know the ash it leaves behind as much as I know a cigarette’s.”

Its colleagues explanation of the culprits went over its head, and it was unable to find records of Force Users in its databank. The droid simply stood there, the lens within its ocular sensor adjusting to the sudden influx of light shining in through the doors and windows. YD-313 tilted its head up and meeting the darker Rangers gaze as he disposed of his cigarette "Littering is a minor offense on this Planet, but law is law. I must ask you to properly dispose of the contents in the appropriate manner. You will find rubbish bins located near the entrance". Protocols and programming. That was all the security was, housed in a durasteel frame. There were instances when a droid had gained a 'personality' through anomalies in their programming or glitches in their code, prompting them to adopt their own persona with surrounding influences. Once upon a time YD belonged to another Sector Ranger as a glorified side kick and 'he' too developed his own unique flair. With the death of his partner the unit was reset to factory settings and his individuality was lost forever.

"My databank shows no reference to Force Users, please advise." The security droid had not returned to HQ in quite some time. Without the need for provisions or even credits it had very little use to return to its place of origin. Instead it patrolled the Sector as it was designed to do. Due to the nature of its composition it regularly enforced the law on hostile Planets where organics could not pursue. It was also unaware of the events which took place, and the following destruction. "I am programmed to switch all authorization to any organic Ranger within my vicinity. You are now recognized by this unit as the superior. Despite our shared ranks you are recognized as having seniority. I will assist your investigation to the best of my ability" it was perfectly aware of its current handicap, but felt it was still capable of lending its expertise on the situation. After all, it was the only ranger present when the events unfolded. "Ninty percent of my sensor modules are still functional. This unit is still capable of executing its programming. I await your orders"

The younger Zeltron ranger looked at Darmus with one eyebrow curiously lifted, "So, you're saying that-" her sentence momentarily interupted as she unbuckled herself from her seat in the cockpit and turned to follow the older human ranger towards the ship's exit, "-after explaining to me for the entire trip from Coruscant-" she joyfully shook her head as she caught the older ranger purposefully avoid eyecontact, "-about how a ranger is most effective staying far away from danger."

Darmus sighed preemptively, knowing fully well what's about to be said and not having any smart retort. "We still needed to make a stop on our journey to investigate a violent bank robbery?" She could barely suppress her laughter as she and Darmus exited the spaceship and walked out into the somewhat clean air of Eiattu 6's Banking Sector. They were soon met with a barricade eracted by the local security officers, prompting Darmus to take his badge out of his pocket and show it to them.

eRYvNnY.png

The officer on duty looked at it briefly and gave it back, "Another one, eh? Thought you guys would be busy cleaning up after Coruscant," Darmus' eyes flashed murder. The nerve on that kid to make a comment like that! He was about to lay it on the younger officer when the latter looked expectedly at the Zeltron, "Well, where's yours?" in turn the Zeltron ranger looked at Darmus, "She's new. Too new considering Coruscant HQ used to issue the badges." The officer seemed to mull this over, realized he had made an insensitive remark and nodded apologetically. "Come on through."

A few moments later they walked into the bank, "Go talk to the witnesses" The Zeltron nodded and walked off, leaving Darmus to approach the other ranger and the busted droid on his own. "So what's the deal here?" he asked, butting into the conversation as if they were all familiar. "The call said this wasn't the usual robbery shtick."

"Littering is a minor offense on this Planet, but law is law. I must ask you to properly dispose of the contents in the appropriate manner. You will find rubbish bins located near the entrance".
“Oh. Right.” Zad had to admit that he had a nasty habit of smoking his cigarettes at all the wrong occasions. Clearing his throat of mild embarrassment, he squatted low to pick up the cigarette butt. “Sorry,” he offered as he properly placed his rubbish in the bin before returning to the droid. The latter had said something that made the Human cock a brow. No reference to Force users? That standard? He didn’t know enough about SR droids or droids in general to do more than wonder for now.

“Well, they're..” he scratched his head. He suddenly could not remember the last time he had to explain this to anyone and had no idea how to. Space wizards? “...Powerful individuals who can ruin bone and metal just by waving their hands, and they carry these handles that ignite these blades of energy, sometimes blue and sometimes red.” That was more of an important distinction than he had credited. “I’m guessing it was the boys in red who did this...though apparently without making their hands glow.”

A moment later and 313 was all but handing himself over as Zad Ruzed’s own personal Ranger droid. He didn’t know if this was the best idea, cool as it sounded. Then again, when’s the next time I’ll get this opportunity? Twisting his lips between a smile and a frown, he nodded in acceptance and met the droid’s lens with his eyes.

“All right, Ranger...but that means I get to call you something a little smoother than YD-313 or anything in between... How about Green Iron?” He left that for the droid to decide. If he didn’t like the name then Zad would just have to keep thinking.
"So what's the deal here?" he asked, butting into the conversation as if they were all familiar. "The call said this wasn't the usual robbery shtick."
Zad regarded the new arrival as one would a teammate who had just come off the bench. More hands could not hurt the situation but only help it, especially when it came to Force users.

“Partner,” Zad greeted the other guy. It was a manner of courtesy that he never wanted to let up but he would not hold that against his counterpart. On that note, Zad recognized the face for a Ranger’s, though the name was slipping. “Nope, not usual, at least not yet. Galaxy keeps up the way it is and maybe it will be."

“My diligent sidekick can fill in but the gist is that we appear to have a few Forcey’s who crashed this joint. One male, one likely male and one female. No one was killed but more than a scrape and bruise were given, beyond the loose wires around."
He nodded at the ruined droids then sought his sidekick's forgiveness. "Eh, no offense..."

"Anyway..."
Zad took a deep breath and held it for as long as it took to give the room another look. "Security systems were tripped but these guys were in and out before loc-auth responded, and only our Ranger droid here arrived from our team. Tangoed with a perp in a mask while a guy in tattoos raided the vault . . . "

He pointed in its direction then at the one toward employee parking. " . . . Then kissed the bank good bye and kicked the dust outta dodge."

The description given by his now assigned superior was illogical and something obviously it could not understand or process. But it also determined that its fellow Ranger gained nothing from deception, meaning only that its drives and software required updates to compensate for its lack of information. YD-313 responded with a simple robotic nod, affirming it more or less understood what it was being told. Apparently the unit came out of this encounter lightly, though the destroyed security droids surrounding them painted a pretty clear picture. It had come out lightly damaged in comparison. Then its temporary superior put forth an alternative call sign, its designation code being too much of a tongue twist upon every individual address. YD-313 processed the request, a consensus being made almost immediately due to its advanced processing power. Its slightly broken artificial output spoke "Green Iron...confirming designation. This unit will now respond to similar hails."

Not surprisingly another Sector Ranger showed on the scene. It was common knowledge that Rangers traveled in small teams and their response was almost second to none. With his arrival the Droid Ranger stood erect, its head turning towards the newcomer while offering a motorized nod. It was devoid of emotion or intent, merely a protocol executed in its many programs "Ranger. This unit was first to respond. Per my protocols I have designated Ranger Zad Ruzed in charge of functions. As he has instructed an account on what transpired here, I will elaborate." Once again the droid activated its holo projector, pulling the recorded files from its databank and playing the contents of the robbery from when the Security Droid entered the SCENE.

Three confirmed culprits, 3 injured banking individuals and several accounts of destruction to assets and property. This unit failed to capture or detain the criminals. I am unable to explain failure, the variables were in this units favor.

Darmus listened to his fellow rangers and watched the footage with a sullen look on his features. Maybe Lt. Aran had been right. Maybe the ranger service should have militarized faster to provide more of a challenge against the Sith... they appeared to be more numerous that Darmus had ever anticipated. "Seems they echo behavior types of syndicate crooks," the older ranger began, trying to recollect everything their criminology trainer taught them in that crash-course on that security academy he attended before joining the ranger service. "Suddenly every lowlife with the Force thinks he can act up because we're too afraid of the Eternal to stop them." and Darmus hated to admit it, but they were right. He had seen and experienced what the Force could do and what it could do terrified him.

Still, since these forcers didn't kill anyone, as far as Darmus was concerned they could rob as many banks as they wanted. The ranger service was stretched thin and their priority was on finding the Eternal. Not engage the Eternal, mind you, just find him. Oren Zapan and the other Jedi Masters were best equipped for that fight. "Bundle the data and forward it to Master Zapan of the Jedi Order," Darmus sighed, "We'd have no better luck than the droid here."
