BIOGRAPHY

Somewhere beyond the Chaos, the lattice of supernovae that isolated Chiss space from the galaxy as a whole, a classic romance was played out. On the one hand, a prominent member of the Ascendancy by the name of Plikh'ori'anikk: a ranking distant in one of the nine ruling families and a well travelled helmsman of the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet. On the other, a Vak woman that went by the moniker of Starshine: a pathfinder in the Navigator's Guild. They met by chance on a diplomatic endeavor where she was commissioned to aid the travels of the ship Khorian was assigned to. And so began a secretive courting to avoid the ire of his family. From their marriage they bore a child named Plikh'ry'anikk. Thanks to her unlikely parentage, Khrya received many gifts from the pair when she was born.

She gained the appearance and status of a Chiss from her father. From her mother she received more freedom in her upbringing than normally afforded to those in the Ascendancy, and most importantly, she could feel the Great Presence. That power that not all in the galaxy could tap into. Her mother was her guide, showing her how to use her natural abilities as she slowly became more aware of them. Her adolescence was spent almost entirely aboard ships, either training to join the Fleet like her father or on the rare occasions she could join her mother in disguise to watch her work. To most, nature is what makes them feel at home. But to Khrya, she didn't need to hear the song of flying creatures. She had the chorus of a ship's systems working in harmony. She didn't need to watch a sunset, they could never compare to the glow of hyperspace. It was out there that she felt the Great Presence the strongest.

She had a promising career ahead of her and longed for the day she could follow in her parents' footsteps. Unfortunately, her path would diverge dramatically. They had hoped it would never happen, but on the wrong day at the wrong time Khorian and Starshine crossed paths. He was piloting a cruiser chasing after pirates, pirates that had hired Starshine to guide them. Recognizing her husband's vessel she sent him a message pleading for aid. And in blatant defiance of orders he took his ship off course hoping to buy her time. It wasn't enough. The other two ships in pursuit laid waste to the fleeing ships leaving no survivors. Khrya could only watch helplessly as her father was imprisoned for treason after the details of his motive came to light. She was left alone and without purpose, stripped of the possibility of a military career and any connection to the Plikh family. Somewhere deep down, however, she knew she was born to help others. So she sought new purpose far away from reminders of loss. She crossed the Chaos into the greater galaxy, eager to find her new path.
