Grenades whizzed through the window and hit the wall overhead as Padpad took cover behind an Uplink Crate. Harsh, savage voices roared their taunts just outside.
A group of Separatists had entrenched themselves in an old Human structure, evidently some sort of warehouse, and had been lying low there for almost two days now. They had just managed to get a good connection with command, and now were awaiting a Phantom for evac. Or, they had been waiting. Now they were just hoping to survive this sudden onslaught.
Padpad hastily turned on the Uplink Crate he was hiding behind. A charge was visible as the antenna gained an aura of purple energy, and the Grunt said hastily, "Brutes! Send Pha-"
A grenade hit the crate directly, and the connection was lost. Hoping his message had gotten through, Padpad stood up and moved to the window. He peeked out, and saw that the Brutes were occupied with a Separatist Hunter - one ofthe last ones left on their side, in fact. Taking advantage of this, he drew his Needler and began to pick them off, one by one, by filling them with the explosive pink crystals.
It wasn't long before he attracted some attention, and a hail of Spiker bullets whizzed toward him. He ducked, but still took one in the shoulder. He also received a nasty reminder of what a Brute Shot was capable of, when the force of a grenade slammed into the wall and sent him sprawling to the floor. He crawled away quickly, back behind the disabled Uplink Crate, and his eyes darted around the room.
Like a child who needs an adult, to handle matters too great for the small, Padpad needed an Elite.
