NAME: Samuel 'Electro' Dyer
FACTION: Republic/Border Alliance
RANK: Luieot- Leuitant- Gah. Loo-Tent-Ant.
SPECIES: Human
AGE: 19
GENDER: Male

APPEARANCE:
Samuel stands at 6'2" on a good day and weighs in at 160 pounds soaking wet. There's not a scrap of fat on him and the only place you could pretend he has muscle would be his legs. He has a baby face when he's clean shaven, his dark blue eyes and curly brown hair only seem to make him younger. He will grow out a beard on occasion, more due to laziness than anything, which ages him several years. He is fairly active outdoors and has gained a dark tan as a result. Other than his distinctive jacket, which he always wears, he has a scar on his left arm from a broken bone in his youth and another scar on his right shoulder from his first battle. The jacket is an heir loom emblazoned with a fire emblem, the symbol of a militia movement that fought hundreds of years ago.

ATTRIBUTES:

Strengths:
Technical abilities
Runner
Book Smart

Weaknesses:
Weak willed
Lacks courage
Unwise in actions

Samuel is a tall and fairly thin young man. He enjoys running and as such has quite a bit of stamina to offset his physical weakness. Samuel is book smart. If he's read it, chances are he'll remember it. Unfortunately he is incredibly weak willed. Others have, on many occasions, taken advantage of him. He is also fairly cowardly and will run from a fight if given the opportunity. While smart, Samuel is quite unwise and falls into others traps quite often. Samuel has tried his hand at a number of different trades and has gained some proficiency in technical ability.

PERSONALITY:
While certainly not a know it all, Samuel is very knowledgeable about a great many things. He usually stays quiet however and keeps his opinions to himself. He doesn't believe it's his place to try and change everyone's mind and doesn't need people to think he is right. The only time he takes action is to help save those around him. In his profession as an electrician, many times he's had to speak up and inform others that "they're doing it wrong" and "it's going to catch fire like that." These situations make Samuel very uncomfortable. He greatly dislikes confrontation and usually lets others dictate what he does. A bosses nexus needs walked? Sure. Wash his air speeder? I guess. Hand me the controller that's two inches from my hand? Why not?

This has led to serious trouble. A boss, Garza Jones, asked him to turn on an electrical service. Samuel responded that there were still people working in the area that would be energized. Garza threw a wrench at Samuel and told him to just turn the [expletive deleted] switch on. The headline the next day was Three dead in Speeder manufacturing plant. After that the head honcho "suggested" he find work off planet. So he did. The pirate transporting him "suggested" he go to a border alliance world in exchange for a pile of credits and retention of both arms. "It'll be like a nice vacation." The pirate said.

He is generally kind and easy going. Even when he knows people are taking advantage of him he tries to see the best in their intentions. He's not one to crack jokes but he enjoys a good laugh with the crew. He is fiercely loyal to the few people who can put up with him and they are the few people he would stick around for in a fight.

BIOGRAPHY:

Samuel had a pretty normal and monotonous life until he left home and started working. He'd had private schooling and became quite learned in various subjects. He was for all intents and purposes the snooty child no one wanted to play with. Against his family's better wishes he decided to pursue a more hands on career that would get his collar much dirtier than his politically minded parents wished. He tried his hand as a droid mechanic for a few months but it became clear quickly that this was not his true calling. He didn't want a collar *that* dirty. He went on to engineering and then architecture but neither of these gave Samuel enough time working with his hands. Next he decided to try being an electrician. He found the work enjoyable and stimulating. The troubleshooting alone created enough of a mental challenge to keep him interested and the work left him feeling fullfilled.

As mentioned earlier, he was helping his direct superior Garza Jones, superior in title and pay only, at a speeder manufacturing plant when an accident caused the deaths of three people. Samuel had mentioned that it would be an unwise decision to power the station while there were still people on the floor. He'd been shouted at, ordered to flip the switch, had a wrench thrown at him, and as a result three people died. The owner of the electrical company offered Samuel a large sum of money to move off world and find employment elsewhere. Initially Samuel thought he was an angel investor and this was a new joint venture. After requesting a meeting to discuss business ideas, Samuel realized the money was a bribe to keep quiet and planned to simply travel to the next system over and find work there as instructed.

Samuel caught a ride on a cargo freighter carrying stims. It turned out however that they weren't carrying stims, *yet*. And that they would be obtained mid flight by force. Samuel asked how many credits the pirate, Olos Nah, would have gained from the stolen goods. The number was remarkably close to the amount Samuel was traveling with and related that odd coincidence to the pirate. The pirate offered him a good deal. A trip to Botajef for all Samuel's Credits or a trip to Botajef, two missing arms and all of Samuel's Credits. Prosthetics being as expensive as they are these days, and terribly out of style, Samuel decided to go to Botajef with both arms intact.

That's how he found himself on Botajef. It really was a nasty planet. But he found enough work to keep himself above water. His first real break since landing on Botajef, was the worst day of his life. While working on a three story factory shots began ringing out all around him. Not only was the factory coming under fire it seemed that there were people within the factory shooting back. Samuel was along a cat walk that bordered the outer edge of the building. While looking for the nearest escape route, a man, Sergent Johanas, carrying a large machine gun came sprinting down the cat walk. As he passed a window a stray bolt caught him in the chest. The gun clattered down the cat walk and landed at Samuel's feet. The man screamed for Samuel to take the gun. He did and nearly dropped the massive weapon on his foot. Johanas screamed again, commanding Samuel to shoot out the window at anything that moved. There was a large pool of blood spreading down the cat walk. Samuel soiled his pants. Samuel stuck the muzzle of the gun through the window and pulled the trigger. The chatter of the gun was deafening, the weapon was uncontrollable. Even if Samuel had kept his eyes open it would've been impossible for him to aim something he'd never encountered before.

Minutes must have passed before the weapon's chatter stopped. The floor was littered with metal casings. When the commander in charge of defending the factory found him, Samuel was still holding the trigger, with his eyes clamped shut tight. When he was finally coaxed into opening them, he saw the courtyard below him littered with bodies. The commander, Brec, informed the troops that they had lost a soldier and that a 'civilian' had taken up Johana's charge. The men were impressed with the civilian's 'ability' and asked Samuel to join them. Commander Brec kept quiet while Samuel slowly nodded. They were large men with large guns; it doesn't matter what they ask, you always say yes.

Samuel spent the next several months in training. While training with the recruits it was hard to feign knowledge of war when he had none. Yet they had all heard stories about 'Electro' and the massacre of Bejton Square, so he did his best to at least look like he knew what he was doing. The commander from the factory was gracious to say the least; he kept his mouth shut throughout Samuel's training and simply observed his progress with a knowing glint in his eye and a grimace on his face. Samuel sympathized with the Border Alliance's mission and was eager to help in any way he could. He learned to enjoy the training and the work that was set before him. It was all so new to him that, even though he didn't like the thought of war, just being able to learn new skills and brand new ideas kept him hard at work. The chatter of the large weaponry soon became music to his ears. But there was one thing that loomed over him. One day he would have to kill. One day he would have to keep his eyes open when firing his weapon. He wouldn't be able to run or depend on anyone else. And he wasn't sure what would happen on that day.

SKILLS:

Somewhat proficient with heavy weaponry
Electrician

GEAR:

Repeater Blaster
Scatter Gun
Blaster Pistol
Light Armor
Data Pad

ROLE-PLAYS:

Tangible Possibilities

RELATIONSHIPS:
Garza Jones- The man behind bars for the murder of three civilians. Because of Samuel's actions he has to serve 10 years in prison. Hopefully Garza's pockets are too empty to hire a merc; and hopefully Samuel is well protected by the time he gets out.

Olos Nah- The smuggler that took all of Samuel's money. If he ever sees Olos again, he'll be asking for his money back. Politely of course.

Commander Brec- The man who first found Samuel and inducted him into the BA. A man of few words, Samuel is certain he can count on Brec to keep the truth about the massacre of Bejton Square a secret.

Sergent Johanas - Samuel didn't have much time during training to look him up. But now that training is over and Samuel has some free time, he's started digging. He's found a wife, Ingrid. She lives on Corellia. Why so far from the Border Alliance? What is she doing all the way in the core when Johanas lived in Border Alliance territory?

Updated and edited a little bit; mostly adding fluff and refining a few things. Also, I've decided my next character is going to be Ingrid Johanas. If you have any ideas for her story and what faction she'd belong to let me know! I'm thinking something like a smuggler, pilot ace, or senator right now though.
