Personality Assessment - Prisoner #23357
- Assessment by Dr. T'rani Varga
As a former career officer in the Capital precinct, the prisoner has been seen to isolate himself ever since his introduction into the prison system. While not seeking conflict with fellow inmates and at times having been observed actively attempting to avoid it, the prisoner will eventually quit trying to evade antagonists if pushed far enough, and the results have often sent several inmates (including #23357) to the infirmary for up to weeks at a time as a result.

There are few in the prison who claim to know #23357 very well, with perhaps under a dozen who can claim to know more of his name beyond the surname printed on his jumpsuit. While he has not seemed to have forged many friendships, he seems selective about who he associates with. Examples include his Floor Head Watchman (Prisoner #23378) and his Floor Head Supply Master (Prisoner #23369). I've also heard rumors from among some interviewed that he's been known to speak with certain providers of illegal materials smuggled inside the prison. All those questioned refused to give names or identification numbers. I advise security to investigate, albeit as discreetly as possible, to eliminate possible security risks.

Physical Assessment - Prisoner #23357
- Assessment by Dr. T'rani Varga
As requested due to his time spent in a coma, I have performed a full physical assessment of prisoner #23357 to bu submitted to prison staff in the event of a medical emergency or consultation. Overall, he seems to be in good health at the present time. Reconstructive surgery was successful and he's recovered full function in his lower body. Proper diet provided by the prison and regular physical fitness and therapy have kept him in healthy physical shape. He spends his allotted time in the yard productively and has even recently requested allowable modifications to his cell to enable him to continue his physical therapy and exercise in the safety of his cell (note, likely due to his history as a law enforcement officer).

Iziz Citizenship Records - History
Nobody knows where Mr. Zarmer originally comes from, though it is suspected that he was likely born in Iziz, or at least on the planet of Onderon. He was found as an infant not even one year old, left on the porch to the New Hopes Orphanage one morning by on of the orphanage staff. While he was housed there, the staff spent the next several weeks trying to look in to who it was that had left the child in hopes of finding his parents. The lack of birth certificate and only the barest wrappings to keep him warm led them to believe he either was left by members of a financially destitute homestead or simply by somebody unwilling to confront the orphanage staff. After going through proper procedures and giving him a name, he was raised in the care of the orphanage until the age of six when he was finally adopted by Lieutenant Kane Zarmer (Iziz Capital Security) and his wife Amadela Zarmer. After proper paperwork and legal issues were worked out, he was officially adopted into the family.

Schooling records show that he was both an academically capable and socially somewhat reserved student. While he was not of incredible intellect, he was more than capable of handling the materials presented to him. Socially he preferred to keep to himself and its known that he didn't make very many friends in the early years of his life. Most free time is noted as being spent playing sports after school or going to his father's office to spend time with him on days when his father had a shift getting off in the afternoon. It was at this time when Sarith began to display a pointed interest in Capital Security. After graduating from high school at the age of eighteen, he immediately applied for training, and later acceptance as a Patrol Officer in Iziz Capital Security at roughly the same time that his father retired from the service.

As an only child and having no spouse or children of his own to occupy much of his time, Officer Zarmer showed himself to be an exemplary officer who was willing to volunteer for any shift or case presented to him. He advanced through the ranks fast, reaching Sergeant by the age of 23, and then at 27 he was made a Detective. As a Detective he spent time in Homicide Division for a short time before his record, commendations, and performance reviews had him recommended for service in Internal Affairs Division where he was immediately put on case for tracking down and eliminating a believed insider in Capital Security who was aiding a local illegal trade market in Iziz identified as the Black Ring Market.

At thirty years of age it was revealed that, despite heading the investigation, Detective Zarmer was one of the most trusted informants and enforcers in the Black Ring Market. This was discovered when a surprise raid was launched on a warehouse where it was believed that several influential members of the BRM would be meeting. Several officers and BRM members alike were killed and wounded in the violent exchange that erupted as a result of the raid. Found among the injured BRM members was Detective Zarmer, who had been critically wounded, paralyzed, and as it was found out over the coming month he had been put into a long-term coma. He was kept alive and sustained until he was able to recover approximately one year later. At this time he was tried in a court of law and found guilty. He was sentenced to life in prison.

At the age of thirty five, four years later, he orchestrated an escape from prison along with at least three of his fellow inmates. None of those involved in the escape have been found and it is believed that Mr. Zarmer is still alive, armed, and dangerous. Last witness reports put him as heading to the spaceport in Iziz to likely book passage somewhere off-world. Since then he has made no apparent attempt to contact his adoptive parents or any associates on Iziz.

What you see above is ICly available to any concerned Imperial citizen who requests it. STRENGTHS:
Seasoned
+ He's already had to investigate the deaths of more children than he'd ever want to remember, seen plenty of friends die, and been through too much for many things to make him scared or doubt himself anymore. It'll likely be a long time before he sees something that truly disturbs him again.
Thick Skin
+ Cops aren't treated well in prison, and Sarith didn't get any special exception. He's been slashed, stabbed, and he's come out the other end alive. So that says something.
Charm Of His Own
+ He's no attractive and flirtatious social butterfly that it seems many would prefer, nor is he the kind of soft smile and gentle words that can coax somebody into doing something. But he has a certain niche sort of charm in his rough and seasoned way of going about things. Of course, this is only one side of a coin.
Naysayers Are Encouragement In Disguise
+ Maybe its because he's stubborn or maybe its because he enjoys succeeding just to piss people who say he can't off, but for whatever reason he's rarely been dissuaded from something just on somebody's word alone.
Helped Write The Book
+ It was once told to new officers coming in to Internal Affairs for the brief period of time he spent training those incoming detectives, that he had likely forgotten more about police work and underground crime than they'd learn. That's mostly a lie. He hasn't forgotten that much.

WEAKNESSES:
As Gentle As Sandpaper
- Sarith isn't really the kind of man who can provide gentle words of comfort. Either he'll tell somebody to "get overi t" if he doesn't feel its something worth being upset for, or he'll be painfully obtuse and awkward about his condolences and might just end up causing them to feel just as miserable.
"Charm" Of His Own
- Some people like subtlety and grace to coerce people into doing things for them. Others like seduction and appealing to more carnal desires. Sarith has found that tables and broken bottles can be just as good sometimes.
A Lawman To His Core, Even If It Hurts
- He can't turn a blind eye to a crime. No matter what the odds are, he simply can't. Its in his nature to stand up for what he thinks is right and fight for that belief even if it kills him.
"Trust Me, I'm A Cop"
- While the power doesn't necessarily get to his head from his time as an officer, he can tend to not realize the limits of where his experience ends at times. While he does have a wide array of experience, he does not have something for every situation no matter what he may think or say.

PERSONALITY:
Sarith is very much both an abrasive but simultaneously dedicated and caring man. As far as what he wants to do in life, he is still passionate about helping others against criminals and similar types. Slavers and raiders are particular sore spots for him for some reason that even he has a hard time putting into words. His time spent trying to avoid most other inmates wasn’t out of fear for how he might be treated but more out of a simple desire to avoid fights that he knew he otherwise likely wouldn’t back down from. When faced with danger he is typically a fight-over-flight sort of responder and isn’t keen on backing down, even from superior odds. That isn’t to say he is completely dumb or suicidal, though. Time in prison and simply living as long as he has have both mellowed him out somewhat and taught him to look at things more realistically at times.

For friends he likes to surround himself with those he feels will do the morally good thing without using the excuse of circumstance to harm or hamper the innocent. He’s the sort of man who will stand by his friends no matter what it is they are facing down, so long as he feels they were in the right in what they did. Those who are needlessly cruel or do something he disagrees with on a moral level are quick to lose or damage their friendship with him if they had somehow obtained it in the first place.

BIOGRAPHY:
While for the most part, the official record his his life is incredibly accurate, the events that transpired that resulted in both his being put in a coma, and later in prison were different than what was listed in official police records. He was not actually attending that meeting as an informant, enforcer, or a member of the BRM in any capacity. His investigations had led him to believe that the informant was possibly somebody in Internal Affairs above him and he had trailed the Captain to the warehouse in question. He had radioed in for back-up but had been far too impatient to wait, thinking that it was likely they'd catch wind of the approaching raid teams, and go to ground before more help arrived. So Sarith had saw fit to do his best to keep them occupied by moving in and starting a one-man raid against them. For the most part it worked. Except as the raiding police arrived, he found himself in a position where he was caught in the cross-fire while the Captain responsible had managed to hide out of the way.

Having been knocked unconscious during that time, in a coma as it would later be discovered, he was unable to contest, and the Captain had used his rank and influence to set up evidence against Detective Zarmer during his time in the hospital. By the time Sarith had recovered, the case against him was rock-solid. He was sentenced to life in prison and spent a few years in there. A few years that he spent recovering, planning, and setting up arrangements behind the scenes with other inmates he managed to get with who didn't dismiss him by virtue of his being a former officer. Of course he didn't share his story with them, for fear that having made an enemy of the BRM would scare off the others, but he told them enough that they agreed to help him. It was he, the guard-selected Floor Head Watchmen, the Floor Head Supply Master, and his own cellmate who all worked together to collaborate a silent escape attempt that wasn't even discovered until the next morning's roll-call hours after they had gotten out of the prison.

He ditched his prison clothes for civilian ones and had made best speed towards the Iziz spaceport. He subverted port security to avoid being made for who he was and smuggled his way aboard a cargo freighter bound for the Tatoo system. Hopping off there put him in a place where it was relatively easy to hide, blend with the local culture, and try to forget everything that had happened to him up until then. Of course as he grew tired of that, he set his sights on maybe trying to do what he did before everything went so wrong: working on helping make the world a better place for others. A - moral mercenary, almost.
