Some futures weren't meant to be...

Origins
Like many young ones within the Order, Saro was delivered to the Jedi as a child. Unlike many of these younglings, Saro is quite aware of how and why he would be given over to the Order. The Keldan Family originates from the planet Ord Mantell, and heads a prominent robotics, mining and construction corporation known as the Keldan Organization. Saro’s father, Rycar Keldan, is the current CEO of the company, and is quite influential in Ord Mantell’s circles, as well as other sections of the Mid Rim where the Keldan Organization is active.

His mother, Thenala, would die giving birth to Saro, causing early estrangement on the part of his father. Being the youngest of three brothers and two sisters, Saro’s role within the future of the corporation’s activities seemed in flux, and Rycar was consistently unsure of what to do with the young Saro. That was until a four year old Saro began showing signs of force sensitivity. Almost at an instant, Rycar contacted the Jedi, and not long after, Saro was given over to the Jedi, partly as a publicity stunt, partly because he foresaw no immediate future for Saro within the Organization. More privately however, it was because the sight of Saro often reminded Rycar of his wife's death.

Saro does not remember much of his original family. He knows their names, as well as their appearance, having searched them up out of curiosity, but he has little recollection of their personalities, what they meant to him, or how they treated him. For all intents and purposes, Saro’s real family is the Jedi Order.

Life in the Jedi Temple
When Saro started out as an initiate, he often lagged behind his contemporaries as a result of his lower force sensitivity. Training in matters of the force was often more draining for him, and there was a time where there were doubts that he would make the cut as a Jedi. Time and time again, he would fail to utilize even the most basic of force abilities, causing him to become something of a class dunce for a while, and a subject of ridicule and mockery. The selfsame Jedi who upheld a strict moral code pertaining to compassion and tolerance, were quick to abandon it behind closed doors. This only served to fuel Saro's determination to overcome these difficulties. Saro made sure he would excel in the art of combat, and trained towards that effect with rigorous discipline. He was placed among the more proficient in his age group in lightsaber training, and performed quite decently with the Shii-Cho Form. Over time, he would also begin overcoming some of his difficulties with using the Force, however he would always lag noticeably behind the rest of the Jedi.

Other futures were destined...
As years went by, he would discover more of his own strengths, and replaced the Shii-Cho form in favor of Makashi. In secret, he also did this partly as a matter of dignity, aware of his family’s wealthy origins. Adopting Makashi was at some level a decision to emulate the dignity he had lost. At this stage, he got along with his peers well enough, although he was more quiet and reserved than most, preferring his own company to that of strangers. Still, he did maintain some close knitted friend circles. When he traveled to Illum as part of the old traditions of the Order, he obtained a blue crystal which would serve as the basis of his newly constructed lightsaber. As his progression continued, he would eventually prove himself to be the equal of his contemporaries, despite his lower connection to the force. Where his strength in the force lacked, his willpower and discipline could carry the day.

Meeting with Liana Mason (Current)
After years of training, he was chosen to be the apprentice of the recently anointed Jedi Knight Liana Mason...

On the surface, Saro has about as standard a personality as can be expected of a Padawan. His trust in the Jedi Order, their code and way of life runs immensely deep, although some might argue to the point of naivety. Though he’s fairly reserved and shy in the face of strangers, he strives to be the best Jedi he can be, and maintains an overall optimistic attitude towards most things.

His mindset is very collectivist in nature, and he makes efforts not to stand out, or deviate from the expectations of the Jedi. This, combined with his shyness, often causes him to be a rather forgettable face in the Order, though he rarely gets into trouble. In extension of his mindset, he also tends to look down on individualists, deviants, and others who bend, twist or freely interpret the Code.

Hidden beneath the surface of his apparent humility, there exists an immense wellspring of pride, and a desire to prove himself. This pride is a great source of strength in a time of need. But its function is double edged, as Saro is slow to let slights go, and is prone to fall victim to his own ego, even when he knows better.

Despite this, he’s a compassionate young Padawan who looks out for his friends, and strives to better both himself and the world around him.

Linguistics
Saro is able to speak and write in both Galactic Basic and Huttese. In addition he’s able to understand Binary.

The Force
Saro has mastered the fundamentals of the force, but finds it difficult to push beyond this basic level of force sensitivity. In these things, he lags behind his peers. While he’s able to do just about anything expected of a Padawan, be it telekinesis, tuning into his surroundings, or enhancing his mobility, he struggles to utilize advanced force abilities, and prefers to avoid using them if possible, sticking instead to simple force tricks.
(Skill - Weak)

Lightsaber Combat
His skills with a lightsaber is beyond most of his Padawan peers, largely by necessity, as his ability to come out on top in close quarters combat is what ultimately makes up for his lacking connection to the Force. He fights wielding a single lightsaber, and specializes in Makashi, though he usually retreats to Soresu as a secondary style when facing multiple opponents.
(Skill - Proficient)

Blasters
While he is familiar with how to wield a blaster, he’s by no means skilled with them, and would only ever use one as a last resort.
(Skill - Weak)

Technological Affinity
Saro is not well versed in the functioning of technology, and is as such almost completely reliant on others when in need of maintenance or particular skills pertaining to technology. He is also unable to pilot ships.
(Skill - Weak)

Vehicles
Saro is able to ride common vehicles, although not with any particular flair or style.

Intellect
One of Saro’s more prominent features is his intellect. With sound reasoning, he is quite capable of assessing the situations he’s in, and how to make the most of what he has. Although his orthodox mindset tends to limit his creativity.
(Skill - Proficient)

Agility & Endurance
Throughout his training, Saro focused on agility and endurance. This has made his reflexes sharp, his movements quick, and his stamina lasting. As such, he’s in his element when he’s in a position to outlast and outpace his opponents.
(Skill - Proficient)

Strength
Though his training renders him more able than the untrained, as far as Jedi go, his strength isn’t very impressive. He is often outclassed by non-force users. Still a young teenager, he will also struggle keeping up with adults.
(Skill - Bellow Average)

Force Sensitivity
Though he is force sensitive, his sensitivity is lesser than most, and he often struggles to utilize the force to its full potential. He makes up for this by focusing on simple, effective and less taxing force abilities. Thus he also tends to resolve situations with close quarters combat, rather than relying too much on the force.
(Skill - Weak)

Personality Flaw
In addition to these shortcomings, his pridefulness is a feature of his personality that can often be turned against him, and he may struggle to overcome his ego when encountering people capable of exploiting this side of him.
