OOC: EDIT: From here on out this thread is to be considered ASK. Don't want a ton of people in the thread, this is good for now unless you have a good reason.

Agent Van Pax walked the dirty, dusky street alone. He had just received a most disturbing call from a police sergeant. Someone had murdered an entire family in the mid-levels of Coruscant, with no leads. "I'm coming to your location now, sergeant, I want a perimeter around the home for a block, nobody in or out until I say so," Van had said as he stuffed his morning biscuit in his mouth and dashed for his speeder. This would be his first real assigment alone, and he wasn't about to let it go down the drain because he wasn't fast enough.

The dusky street became more and more filled with onlookers who pressed themselves against the police barricade. A quick flip of his credentials and a loud holler from a heavily armed officer created a path for Van to get through the crowd. Behind his back several members of the crowd spewed anti-authoritarian obscenities at him. The next block was totally abandoned, except the occasional crime scene investigator scouring the area for evidence. As Van neared the house, he realized the gravity of the situation.

Blood had literally spilled out into the streets, all of it was quarantined off with 'vacuum bowls' that created an environment that would prevent the contamination of anything it contained. A man wearing a uniform approached Van Pax. "Agent Pax, I'm Sergeant Plane, I spoke with you on the comms."

"Yes, Sergeant Plane, what happened here?" Van Pax asked as he glanced at the Sergeant's name tags.

The Sergeant led Van into the house, and as he pushed the ajar door open a grisly sight greeted Van. A decapitated, heavily mutilated corpse sat upright at the foot of a circular staircase. Van didn't have to search hard for the head, which was jammed onto the banister, which was scalped and it's eyes missing. "The homeowner, Brenna Siegfield, right here," Plane motioned toward the body and head, "was here with her boyfriend and children when neighbours across the street heard a commotion, some sort of roaring, like an animal, and seventeen minutes later when a patrol speeder arrived, the officer found this."

"Did the residents that made the call see anything?" Van asked, recording everything onto his holopad in audio and writing.

"No, the streetlights were dead at the time," Van glanced outside, the streetlights were flickering, but they were steady and on, "and just before the responding officer arrived they heard a window break and then silence. We think that was the back window breaking as the culprit left the scene."

"I know there is a lot of blood here, but try and find some that doesn't belong to any of our victims, especially around the back window and the boyfriend," Van said, his mind racing. This was gonna be an exhausting case.

Van was leading the Sergeant around the house, looking at the carnage. One child was down there. Van stepped over Ms. Siegfield and headed up the bloodsoaked stairs. At the top of the stairs was the boyfriend, who was yet to be identified. His hands, feet, and head were missing. Just gone. The second child was in a small bathroom. This wasn't just a multiple murder. This was a slaughterhouse.

Burc'ya Dar Marren stood outside the banner tape. It read CRIME SCENE DO NOT CROSS!. Burc Leaned on one of the posts and motioned for an officer to come over. The officer complied.

"Yes Mr...Uh"

"Marren. Burc'ya Marren. What the hell happened here?"

"Uh...Well a familiy has been murdered."

"Damn....Ain't that the osik of the galaxy?"

"Yes sir. I uh need to get back to this."

"Sure sure. Go ahead." the Officer left. Burc checked to make sure nobody was looking and ducked uner the tape and walked into he crime scene. Holy osik he thought. I've seen lot's of stuff but this one takes the cake. He looked around. What in the hell?. He looked around for the one that looked to be in charge and approached him.

"Hey" he called to the man in the business suit. "What happened here sir?"

Van was directing the Sergeant to deploy his officers around the neighbourhood to interview residents of the area when he heard a voice speaking behind him. "Hey, what happened here?" Van had been standing at the top of the staircase leading up to the house. He turned around and saw what appeared to be a civilian standing there behind him with an inquisitive look on his face. "Sir, please put your hands in the air," Van ordered harsly as he drew his USP .45, aiming the muzzle at the man's heart.

At the same time Sergeant Plane drew his own sidearm on the stranger. "Who the HELL are you?!" demanded the Sergeant.

Van barked out orders to two passing officers, each drawing their own sidearm. "Sir, I need you to get your knees very slowly and lay face-down, keep your hands up," Van ordered in a steely voice, drawing the attention of several other officers in the area, who drew their weapons. "You two, search him thoroughly after he lies down," Van spoke to the two officers nearest the man, but his eyes or hands never wavered. What is he doing?, thought Van. He had his trigger halfway pulled. If this stranger tried anything now he would be riddled with armor-piercing, anti-personnel rounds from several spooked officers and a stone-faced RSF agent.

"Look kiddies. Name's Burc'ya Dar Marren." Burc said as he laid his blaster pistol on the ground. "You the one in charge? And tell these idiots to calm down. I ain't gonna hurt you guys. Thought you boys needed some help." Burc noticed each of them had their fingers on the trigger. "Could you guys get your fingers off the trigger you're making me nervous! You guys new or something?" he flashed a Republic Mercenary pass. "Damn, I'm one of you guys."

Alex had been patrolling a heavy trafficking sector when her com system alerted her about the incident. A multiple homicide, with some bizarre circumstances surrounding it. Setting her speeder down in a vacant lot, she attempted to call up additional information, but was simply informed that no further crime scene information was available at the moment, and an RSF agent was on the scene. Alex pulled her speeder back into the air traffic and set a course for the scene.

Upon arrival she set the black, unmarked speeder down in one of the complex's vacant spots. A local police deputy approached her as she exited her vehicle, calling out, "Excuse me, Ma'am, I'm sorry but there's no parking here, this is a crime scene."

"Field Agent Trellin, RSF," she said, pulling aside her suit coat to show the gun and badge hanging on her belt. She continued nonchalantly past him.

"Sorry Agent Trellin," he called from behind her, running to catch up. He lifted the crime scene tape for her to pass under. "Here, Ma'am."

She nodded, acknowledging the help. As she was a few paces into the scene, she called back over her shoulder, "Keep our perimeter tight."

"Will do," responded the deputy under his breath, rather nervous about the presence of two federal agents on the premises. Who could have this that the Republic's sent two federal agents?

She immediately noticed the man subdued by agents, and saw him pull out some kind of identification. She pulled out her badge and held it in the air for the other officers to see, which simultaneously drawing her blaster pistol from her side. "Agent Van Pax?" she called to the other agent. She recognized him, and had heard good things about him, but had never worked directly with him in the past. "Is everything under control, here?" she asked. The question was not meant to question his ability or judgement, she was merely offering any kind of assistance she could. RSF agents all tended to have different strengths, and working in tandem or within groups made them exponentially effective.

"Sir, we get very nervous around here when strangers enter our crime scenes heavily armed," Van stated, looking over the man's identification while the officers searched him. Now that the immediate threat was subdued, training kicked in and the officers placed their fingers along-side their blasters. "Who authorized you to enter the crime scene? Nobody from my office contacted me," Van asked aggressively when he heard a voice.

"Agent Van Pax? Is everything under control here?" Van looked at the speaker, whom he recognized as Alex Trellin, another agent stationed here on Coruscant. He recalled once seeing her practising with several weapons at the firing range, and had remembered how impressive a marksman she was. In the top percentile, much like himself.

"Agent Alex Trellin? Yes everything is under control, thank you. Mr. Marren here decided to startle us, I am running a background check on him as we speak," he still was wary of this Burc'ya Marren, keeping his pistol trained on him. "I take it we will be tackling this case together?"

Burc stood up and dusted himself off. "You ever tried getting on a crime scene with just a merc pass? It would have taken me an hour to get on site. And if that had happened I might not have caught the top dog." Burc raised his arms as he was searched. "Who trained you guys? A squirrel?" he turned to the woman "Burc'ya Marren. You guys want to introduce yourself? I figured if this was a mob hit I could help you guys out. I have a...ah...interesting history with them. I have a few contacts down there." the Officer thrust his hands into Burc's pockets "HEY! Watch it down there." the Officer presented a knife, a blaster pistol and 250 credits. "See. I'm clean."

Lights, sounds, noise from any angle. Flashing, blinking, pounding and screaming, everything felt blurry and dark down here. He had never been too a city in his entire life, and now he found himself lost in the biggest city in the entire galaxy without food, sleep or anything.
His body and clothing was covered with blood and he had large open wounds all over his body. Worst was his left foot with a big slash stretching from under his knee and up too his hips. In his right hand he dragged a big black sword soaked in blood. One could wonder why someone like himself was wandering around in a place like this, he did not know the answare himself. Neither did he know what time it was or how long it was since he had any sleep, he was tired and his legs were about to collapse beneath him.

Then suddenly the noises and sounds faded as he walked over too another sector. Little did he know that he was walking right into a scene of crime. There were some people in some matching uniforms a few meters away from him but he didn’t bother, neither did they see him in this poor light either. He sat down and leaned his back and head onto the huge wall. It had been a long day for Trank, and it was not over yet.

OOC: Sounds good. If this is an investigation its best not to have too many people.

"Mr. Marren, there's a reason it would take you hours to get in here with a Merc ID," she said, re-holstering her blaster and holding him in a firm glare. Her voice betrayed a small amount of condescension, for she didn't much bother to hold back her contempt. There was a very good reason for their procedure. Herself and Agent Van Pax had spent numerous years training for these situations, and the last thing they needed was some grunt fumbling around, disturbing evidence. "We will take care of this. If you think you have something to offer, one of these officers would be glad to take your statement outside of our crime scene. If you want to talk to myself or another RSF agent, you can take a trip to our field office." Pointing in the direction from which he came, she repeated herself, "You're not authorized to be here, please step off our crime scene."

A patrolling sergeant cried from one of the darker corners of the crime scene, his flashlight and weapon trained on something very unexpected. "We've got a live one here!" he called.

Trellin drew her weapon with grace and ease, pointing to the officer that had confiscated his belongings. "Get him out of here. Give him his possessions on the other side of the tape." Without waiting for a response she dashed in the direction of the sergeant, her weapon trained carefully on the bloody swordsman. She was focused, calm, and collected. "Sir," she called to him loudly, "remove your hand from the weapon. Sergeant, radio in a medical unit now. Sir, hand off the weapon"

Burc reluctantly was led into the crowd. He thought to himself I guess I probably shouldn't overextend myself so much. Might get kriffed up someday. He decided to do this the legal way.

Burc was officialy bored out of his mind. Yes I have a particular case I want to work on! The kriffing advisor put me on it!. He filled out the form. "Have you ever commited a Felony??" Surpisingly no.

****

"So Mr. Marren. You've been assigned to the slaughter house case eh?"

"It would seem so."

"You'll be working with two RSF agents are you aware of this?"

"Yes"

"Ok. Good."

"We had a little run in sir."

"I heard about that. They tend to draw weapons on you when you enter an active crime scene."

"I found that out. Is that all sir?"

"Thats about it. Have fun"

As Agent Trellin stepped in to deal with the mercenary Van took a step back and let her handle it, holstering his side arm, after engaging the safety with his thumb. She was the epitome of authority and handled Mr. Marren efficiently and in a no-nonsense manner. She was obviously leadership material. She was a veteran of the RSF, while Van was relatively new. "Okay so th..." Van began explaining the situation thus far to Trellin. He didn't get far, a shout near a dark alley drew both Van's and Alex's attention.

Van sprinted alongside Trellin as he drew his sidearm once more, disengaging the safety. This large man carried a huge sword, and was gravely injured. Van and at least two other officers were on comms asking for a medical unit. Van kept a bead on the man's forehead. "Sir, I suggest you do as Agent Trellin has ordered you to do and DROP. YOUR. WEAPON!" Van loudly and clearly enunciated the last three words to get the message across. He had had enough bad experiences to know how quickly this situation could go south. First an unidentified mercenary strolled into the crime scene, now this bloody mess with a huge saber. What was next on tonight's list?

Trank stood up slowly, his left leg was now so injured that it couldn't support him so he used his sword to lean on. He looked at the two standing in front of him
"I... I chh.." blod began pooring out of his mouth. He coughed and spat out some more blood to clean his throat.
“I can’t.. hear you… speak, louder” he managed to force out of himself before coughing again.

Agent Trellin ran through numerous scenarios as fast as she could. She took a step back as the man began to stand up, trying to assess just who this mystery man was. His wounds were grave and extensive, and she doubted he could muster to the strength to truly do any damage. He had gotten this far, though, and left a trail of blood leading into the crime scene. He was obviously of extraordinary strength and endurance.

As the blood began dripping from his mouth she made a decision. Turning to Agent Pax, gave him a nod to carry on and began holstering her weapon. She called to the sergeant who followed suit. She began moving towards the subject, slowly and cautiously, with her hands stretched before her, equally ready to either defend herself or aid him. "Sir, we're going to set your sword down," she said, calmly. There was something about the way he clung onto it that made her cautious. He was hanging on just as tight as he was hanging onto life itself. "We're just going to set it down, then get you to lie down, okay? You need medical attention."

Though this was her first time working with him Pax, Alex trusted that if she were to look over her shoulder, his blaster would still be trained on the man's forehead. The types of assignments typically forwarded to RSF were extremely high risk, and thus the agents were trained to be brave, yet take every necessary precaution when available. On a joint operation it was much more possible than when going solo.

Trellin reached the bloody man and put a gloved hand under his wrist, applying force upward to try and help support him. Gently she used her other hand to grab the sword, adjusting her feet so she was supporting him rather than the sword. The sergeant followed her lead, taking his other blood-soaked arm as Alex set the sword against the wall a few feet away. "Alright, let's get you on the ground," she said firmly. Her voice wasn't rigid or harsh, just one of authority. "Don't try to speak. Help will be here momentarily."

Van was running various possible outcomes of this encounter in his mind when Agent Trellin looked back at him and gave a curt nod. She was doing what Van had thought of, but was unsure of the large blade, as she moved in to assist the apparently injured man, Van sidestepped to the left to keep a good sight on the man from several feet away. Any threatening movements and Van wouldn't hesitate to put a slug through this man's head.

As Trellin went to tend to the man, Van's mind was racing. Trellin wasn't overly-harsh, but commanding. Van had always been in scenarios where he was forced to be tough and overbearing when dealing with civilians on the streets, but he had been assigned to one of the meanest beats in the city as soon as he graduated. Although this was a risky move, this man obviously needed assistance. Chances were if he DID try anything, Agent Trellin would be unharmed, as several officers had taken the precaution of drawing their own weapons. "Trellin, be ready to move," Van stated as he stared down his sights at this man. "Sir, it's okay, please drop the weapon," Van said loudly for the man to hear.

One of the charecters came walking towards him, it was all blury and dim, then suddenly he saw the face of a whoman, she looked calm and her voice sounded much clearer at this distance.
"I didn't mean to.. trou.. trouble... anyone" he managed to say after some serious efford.
There was one more beside him now, they were helping him and he felt relieved after all this time. but as the woman tried to take the sword from his hand he tightened his grip around the handle. He turned to her looking her in the eyes and tried to speak, his eyes were unfocused and one of them was blue.
"I.. hhHHRRchh.... I... needh... thhhis... hhRRhhch this sworh.. mam.. please" just as he finished his eyes rolled backward and he faded.

Alex and the sergeant brought the man to the ground as his body went limp. Since his hand was now limp around the hilt, Alex moved the enormous blade away a short distance before checking his breathing. It was shallow and quick; his body was going into shock from the lack of blood. "Sergeant," she said, "Use the crime scene tape to tourniquet his leg, that bleeding needs to stop." It was only a few seconds later that the trauma team arrived, having fortunately brought a mobile unit with them.

"Careful with him," she instructed the lead medic as they loaded him on the hover-gurney, "We're not sure if he's mentally stable. Keep him under sedation if you can, and we'll send an officer along just to be safe." She saw to it his sword went along with the supervising officer, just in case.

Exhaling deeply, Alex removed the glove from her right hand and ran her bare fingers through her dark brown hair. I'm really going to need a drink once this one is over, she thought to herself. With any luck this would be the last of the surprises... at least the end of the living ones. Turning to Agent Pax, she grinned and shook her head. "Try explaining that, I dare you," she said with a sense of weary humor. She wasn't really complaining, she loved her work more than anything. These types of surprises along with the thrill of the hunt made it all worthwhile. It was important to keep ones self from being too dragged down by the gravity of the crime scene. She of course took it with utmost seriousness, but looking back on the two exceedingly random visitors with a touch of humor helped to get through the day.

"Thanks for the backup, Pax" she said. Alex realized she had taken lead in the past couple events. It was in her nature, and part of the reason she was up for promotion. This was his crime scene, though, and she willfully and contently acknowledged his authority to take point from here on out. "Now, what is it we have here?" she asked, ready to begin the investigation, barring any more interruptions.

Burc stood in front of the officer, his patience wearing thin. "Look kid," he said to the young officer. "I have my papers right here. See?" he pushed his papers in front of his face. "Signed and everything."

"I'm aware sir but we still haven't gotten the call from the station to let a non-RSF personnel on site. Regs sir."

Burc sighed and shoved the papers back into the envelope he had been given. He was no longer wearing his armor but a regulation RSF jumpsuit. With matching cap. He no longer had his custom pistol either. Now he had a standard issue slug thrower. He had to play by the rules like a good boy....Well with a few rule bending exceptions. He could pursue suspects into certain areas RSF couldn't. He had authorization to use unorthodox methods in interrogations. But other then that he had to play by the rules.

The RSF agent seemed to get a comm. line with his HQ. He motioned for Burc to come over. He complied.

"Look Mr. Marren. You have to-"

Burc cut him off "I've been reviewing the guidelines for the past three hours that I've been stuck out here with you. So thank you Officer."

"Ok. In that case don't touch anything without the Agent in charge's permission. You now have permission to enter the crime scene."

Burc walked under the yellow tape and onto the crime scene. It was the most boring thing he had ever seen.
